Whenever I try a new Thai restaurant, I order the drunken noodles as a litmus test for how good the rest of menu probably is. And yes, the drunken noodles at Signature Thai Cuisine is the best I've had. The FBI (fried bananas and ice cream), which I get without ice cream, is perhaps even better than the already dreamy drunken noodles. If you think that you've had fried bananas, you haven't had Signature's rendition. The coconut in the FBI elevates what would otherwise be a cliche dessert. My family ordered mango sticky rice to go and received a complete disaster of a dish. The container was filled with coconut milk and the rice looked visibly tampered with. We called the restaurant to resolve the issue, but were initially told that this could not have happened. It was not taken seriously until we provided photo evidence. Even then, they asked us to bring the food back for evaluation despite the fact that we were already home. They said they needed to speak with a manager and did not follow up, so we had to call them again ourselves. We were then offered restaurant credit, which we declined. They told us we would need to bring the container back in if we wanted to pursue a chargeback. When we returned, staff members stared at us while we explained the situation. At one point, a female employee called over three additional staff members from the kitchen to look at the container, as if that would resolve anything. They offered to remake the dish, but we requested a refund instead. In the end, they only refunded the menu price and did not include the tax. Not only were our concerns not taken seriously, but the entire process was unnecessarily difficult. Despite the cheerful Christmas decor, our meal was not joyful. Santa greeted us at the door but our server was more Grinch than St. Nicholas. I intended to order a dinner portion but then saw the lunch menu on the last page and asked if it was still going on. She answered crankily (because I shouldn't ask questions or because she'd rather sell a pricier portion?). We still ended up ordering the Chicken Satay for appetizer and 2 lunch meals- Drunken Noodles with chicken and Panang Curry with mixed seafood. Service was curt and taciturn from there on. Oh my gosh, I definitely need to come back here. I tried their soft shell crab pad Thai, which was out of this world! It's the perfect amount of savory with that classic pad thai taste. It's not overly saucy and not dry at all. The noodles are so chewy and the soft shell crab really adds a good layer of flavor and crunch that you won't get with regular chicken/shrimp/tofu pad thai. The restaurant is dimly lit, which kind of makes it a more relaxed atmosphere. It's a little small inside so I can see it getting loud or easily busy if there's a lot of people. I've passed this area so many times growing up in La Mesa, but have never tried this place until recently. I only got take out, but the decor and vibes inside the restaurant looked so fun to be in. The staff was so kind when I came to pick up my food, so I would dine in here soon hopefully. My friends and I ordered a few things: pad thai, drunken noodles, papaya salad, and the tom kha soup. The only thing we regretted was not getting our noodles a little spicier because we were worried the spicy level would be high as a Thai spot, but a 4 was very mild to us, so I would say go a little higher than a 4 if you like a medium spice. read more

A gentleman took my father and I here as a way to say thank you. He enjoyed a delicious fish of yellow curry. I think he's a repeat customer Dad and I split a lunch special pad Thai which was so large we had enough to take some home. Although we asked for it not to be spicy it had a bit of a kick. The soup was interesting. Not quite sure what type it was but should have asked them to heat it up as it was tempid. They were kind enough to bring one for each me and dad even though we split our meal. Given the great experience I hate to write this but the Pad Thai was not quite what we are used to do. I found this place while I was running errands with my friend and we decided to try this place out. Ever since I tried this place out I can't stop coming back. I came back again for my birthday and brought my family so that they could try it too. There Is plenty of seating inside and outside. Plenty of parking. The inside is nice, I really like how they decorated it. The food is absolutely delicious! I haven't tried many Thai places in San Diego admittedly, but this spot has been a great starter. The service was great and Server Kwan was attentive and all smiles. Very homey atmosphere and most of the food was great as well. Crying Tiger (comes with rice): Usually a specialty in many Thai places, but this dish surprisingly fell short. Beef was not high quality and extremely tough and hard to cut. There wasn't enough flavor and citrus in the sauce for me to enjoy. Pad See Ew: The best dish here by far. I've tried many Pad See Ew dishes, but this one surprised me by the smoky flavor and the soft duck. So much flavor! Tom Yum Soup: Above average soup. I liked the chili and peppers in the broth and there was a vast amount of seafood with an array of mussels, shrimp, fish, and squid. There was no rice provided alongside and an extra bowl costs $3. Papaya Salad: This was an amazing starter! I love fish sauce and tons of citrus so this was a pleasant surprise. The texture was great with the small bits of fried shrimp and crunchy papaya and carrot. Mango Sticky Rice: This desert was a bit of a let-down. Overly wet and sweet, but at least the mango tasted high quality. Thai Tea: Same as the sticky rice, unnecessarily sugary. Still 5 Star! Came by for a dinner date and the head chef cooked our dinner. We ordered Drunken Noodle. And OMG, we were blown away! You could taste the difference. You could taste the char. Wifey planned a dinner outing with one of her coworkers and what started out as a dinner party of two ended up being a party of five because wife invited me and her coworker invited her parents. When my wife informed me that we'd be having dinner with people who normally aren't adventurous opting for chain restaurants like Applebee's, she asked me to find a good restaurant for them to try out. I asked my wife what type of food and she said Thai food. I looked via my trustworthy Yelp app for a Thai restaurant halfway between us and them and found Signature Thai Cuisine. Although we were supposed to treat and were blessed that Rose's coworker and parents treated us, we're so thankful that we all got to experience the stellar Signature Thai Cuisine restaurant, the amazing Thai food, and the customer oriented staff. Signature Thai is located in La Mesa off of Lake Murray Blvd. a couple exits east from San Diego State University. The restaurant can be found within an outdoor strip mall where there is a now closed down Big Lots retail store. Signature Thai is a few steps across from Thai Sports Massage & Spa, on the same side as Patty's Cafe and Goodwill, and next door to Beverage City Liquor. There is plenty of parking in this strip mall. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't seem too big, but looks are deceiving. As you enter Signature Thai, you can tell Autumn and Halloween are just around the corner as the restaurant was decorated in Fall colors with orange and red foliage throughout, skeletons and other Halloween accoutrements, a giant spider hanging from the ceiling, and spiderwebs adding to the festive decor. It's a spacious restaurant with a good amount of indoor seating consisting of leather bench seating and leather chairs and there's covered outdoor seating. You wouldn't think from the outside, but it's a classy restaurant with artistic depictions of Thailand hanging on their main wall, distressed wooden laminate flooring, and wine bottle selections staged around the restaurant. The restaurant was packed for a Saturday, so do like us and make a reservation. Our waitress and the staff we interacted with were so nice, friendly, and our waitress was so attentive and really took care of us by checking on us at a good pace filling our refillable drinks. There are a few restaurants throughout San Diego that are our go to Thai restaurants and after our first time dining at Signature Thai, we are definitely adding it to our go to Thai restaurant list. Besides the ambience and noteworthy staff, the Thai food here was amazingly delicious. They really don't serve dishes that are family style, but our party decided to order several dishes and share these dishes amongst ourselves. Please feel free to imitate what we ordered because I'm confident that you will enjoy the food we chose as much as we did. We ordered the tasty Egg Rolls for appetizers, which are hand rolled lightly golden fried spring rolls wrapped with cabbage, mushrooms, carrots, sweet corn, and glass noodles served with sweet chili sauce. We ordered a Beef Salad, which comes with marinated grilled top sirloin steak and a medley of vegetables. That steak was cooked perfectly tender. We thoroughly enjoyed their Orange Chicken, which was deep-fried battered chicken with finger licking sweet orange sauce and garnished with a sliced orange, fresh cilantro, and sesame seed. It ate really well with the provided white rice. Make sure to order their Classic Thai Fried Rice, which comes with classic Jasmine rice stir-fried with garlic, egg, cut tomatoes, Chinese broccoli, white and green onions, sliced cucumbers, and we added beef as our protein. A must order is their Pad Thai, which is stir-fried fresh thin rice noodles served with egg, Chinese chives, bean sprouts, fish sauce, and garnished with chopped roasted peanuts. Their pad thai was delectable and satisfying. We didn't make any of our dishes spicy, but you can ask for their homemade chili sauce and chili flakes. To end our memorable meal, we ordered their Sweet Rice with Mango. The sweet rice was yummy, but the mango was tart. We had a wonderful time of fellowship with my wife's coworker and her parents. What made our fellowship that much better was breaking bread with them at Signature Thai Cuisine where they serve scrumptious Thai food, employ customer focused staff, and it's a nice spot to meet new friends. read more

We tried pork fried rice, pad Thai w/chicken, & yellow curry with chicken, all were delicious and served family style in portions that were generous enough for leftovers to take home. However, the star of the meal was the Tom Kha soup! We added shrimp, but we could all eat it with no added meat and would have been just as amazing. Perfect balance of sweet, citrus, & spice.
