Bread sold less than 24 hours ago should not already be moldy. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the store's food quality and freshness. This has been a very frustrating experience.

They were individually wrapped and premade, not as fresh as what I have had prior. We got 2 of the walnuts, 2 redbean filling, 2 chocolate looking ones, and the rest in original custard. The others were fun to try but the custard is my favorite. A nice snack if I'm already at this H-Mart picking up groceries but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. I finally…read morestopped by to pick up some meat for our shabu-shabu this weekend, and I'm already excited to come back! Everything in the display case looked incredibly fresh and delicious. The owner recommended the thinly sliced Spanish pork, saying it's one of their best sellers because of its tender, chewy texture that keeps customers coming back for more. Of course, we had to give it a try! We also picked up some beef short rib rolls that looked amazing. I also noticed they carry a great selection of BBQ skewers, so that's definitely on my shopping list for next time. The shop itself is spotless, well-organized, and easy to browse. What really made the visit memorable was the owner--she was warm, welcoming, and took the time to explain the different cuts of meat and even shared details about an upcoming promotion on packaged steaks. I was the at Smart and Final, right next to the 24 hour gym, go figure trying to eat healthy. I go to the Pada Sushi area, because they have fresh food and let's be honest decent price for good quality. I have been a longtime customer; I buy their stuff all the time, for like the last 4+ years. This time, I saw they had deal of the day, it's a fat red tag, that is a couple bucks off some of their specialty items, and I am like yes!!!! super excited. There were multiple ones, so I picked 2 plates. One had tuna and salmon, and I was like yeah, getting this. I am thinking should I get the other looks like a crunchy roll not sure or should I just stick with the usual California roll non red tag. Since the fat red tag was literally on the menu, while I was holding both red tag items, I started to peel the tag to actually see the menu because it's a specialty item, I don't know what it is. Not thinking anything of it, thinking hey I just want to know what I am buying or what it is. As soon as I start to peal the red tag, all I heard was: "SIR, SIR, SIR, why are you changing the price tags, you are changing the price tags... in the middle of the store, people looking at me like I am stealing or doing something completely wrong ." At this point and time, I know cameras are everywhere, I never switched any price tags, and the only thing I was holding in my hands were two deal of the days (both same price of 12.95) and a Caesar salad. The other option in my head was a California roll which was 7.95, so why would I even wish to pay 12.95 for an item that is 7.95. It would have been a different story if I was trying to switch the California roll price tag, but that wasn't even in my hands, and I have never done that. The thing that really got to me was she accused me of doing something she literally didn't see me do, and who ever put the tag on the sushi is negligent. 1. WHY WOULD LITERALLY PUT THE RED TAG ON THE MENU THAT COVERS WHAT YOU ARE SELLING AKA THE TYPE OF ROLL, I took pictures if need be. 2. WHY WOULD YOU ACCUSE ME OF DOING SOMETHING I DIDN"T DO. SHE WAS LIETRALLY IN THE STORE, NOT YELLING BUT LOUD ENOUGH FOR PEOPLE TO TURN AROUND AND SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON, WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE. I FELT SO EMBRAASSED AND WRONGED. I take the plate of sushi, I told her how can you tell what this is? she starts to explain its this type of roll, it has this and this, and I tried to explain to her, guess what, your red tag is covering the roll, you work in the industry, you know it, perhaps you even made it, but me as the customer, I don't know what this is..... I was trying to figure out what it was before you accused me of switching labels, (without evidence I will add). So, now, this sucks, because of her judgement and accusation, I don't even want to buy this sushi and now I question if I should even go to the Smart and Final after the gym to get food, showing up all sweaty in gym clothes being labeled as the guy that was "switching tags" when that was never the case over customer service and their negligent act, like really you are covering the type of roll it is. I am really hoping they make this right.

I went here kind of late.. around 5 pm and most of the baked goods WERE ALL SOLD OUT.. so i settled for a bun w/ taro filling.. cost me 1.10 but w/ the discount it was 82 cents.. the cakes are temping.. you can get a mini cake for only 5-6 dollars and the cake rolls for around 5 bucks!! i think the prices here are great.. but i've only tasted their taro bread.. which didn't really give me a great impression the filling was not firm enough.. never had such.. unfirm taro filling.. i dont even know what word to describe it.. and i just wish they didn't run out of bread so fast.. but then again.. that makes sense for bakeries to run out.. esp if they just opened because they don't have too many customers yet.. the bread texture was nice and chewy but most asian bakeries are the same.. so what can i say.. none beat 85 degrees in irvine but for the price you settle

The Durian roll is super moist and super thick, and has a generous amount of cream filling. Usually I find roll fillings a bit of a nuisance but this one was mixed in with actual Durian, which gave it a really yummy fragrant flavor rather than that fake whipped cream taste. Also, it's pretty cheap at $5ish per roll (minus a bit for their current Grand Opening discount) which is a great deal for rolls these days . The rest of their bread selection is pretty standard for a chinese bakery. There was nothing really extraordinary here to try, but that Durian roll is pretty damn good. I had a piece of their Taro roll once, but my mom had stacked it next to the Durian roll so that absorbed all the jacked up goodness. All in all, if you're looking for your typical breads and want it at a low price -- Tanbii does it. They even have a discounted selection of breads! Tough times yo!
