8/2/26 Would you believe this Melo Melo run is instigated by Hubby? A-yup!! I got dressed as quickly as possible and we were on a quest for Melo Melo! I was just here yesterday & at 4 pm they were sold out of my favorite, Triple Coconut (the entire coconut filled with coconut jelly & coconut pudding with its own coconut meat) I love scraping it off once I eat the goodies. There's nothing like eating dessert that brings back childhood memories, except it's better in this rendition. Lo & behold, they have 3 Triple Coconut even at this late hour (10:40 pm). Hubby wanted the Triple Coconut, too, & 2 more Double Coconut. I also ordered one with mango puree. I learned that the coconut pudding is made at another location and the ones they sell at this location that has fruit added, these staff cut the fruit and add to the bottle. So the recipe is unknown to the staff. Best kept secret, I suppose. Believe me, I tried to copy and I have yet to achieve success. The shop is modern & clean. The staff are super friendly. Parking is free and could get challenging at peak hours due to shared among many businesses at this Diamond Plaza in Rowland Heights. I probably wouldn't get the Strawberry again since it didn't have chunks of fruit like the Mango did, and for the price, I expected some real strawberry bits. The oat-based Pistachio Rose was tasty too, but I wasn't a fan of the mochi/jelly rose on the top layer. The Mango and Sunset Mango are similar, but the Sunset Mango comes with an extra layer of purple rice, which is more filling. Service is fast since it's a counter setup, you pick what you want and pay. The inside is small, with a few tables. I like the reusable glass jars, and if you bring in ten MeloMelo glass jars, you can get a free one. I do think it's a bit pricey since the premium ones are $13.99 and the others $10.99. read more

The flavors were also surprisingly very different from the mango puree one as we found that to be more subtle and my parents actually enjoyed it more because it wasn't as overwhelmingly sweet. I don't know if this qualifies as a hot take or not, but, at the very least, I know I'm in the minority. Either way, here goes - I don't get the hype. Now, before you break out the torches and pitchforks or throw garbage at me, let me just say that I actually think MeloMelo is pretty decent. It's just that, with the way some folks talk about them (a friend's friend comes here every day when she's in town and buys a bunch for the flight back home), I just expected...more. Now, unless you're overtly looking for them, it could actually be somewhat easy to miss MeloMelo - they're not all that large, their frontage is a bit obscured, and their signage isn't very prominent. Inside, though, this place is great. The decor is really cute, they have a handful of tables (plus a few outside), and their display cases are filled with so many varieties of their coconut desserts. While I didn't actually count, it looked like they easily had over two dozen different types to choose from, including their basic Coconut flavor, Matcha, Durian, Red Dragonfruit, Golden Kiwi, Ube, Mango, combinations of multiple flavors, and so many more. In short, a range of offerings that's actually quite impressive! -- RED BEAN MATCHA I was super excited to try this, but, unfortunately, it was underwhelming. The matcha, red bean, and coconut flavors complemented each other really well, but the taste of the matcha and red bean wasn't very strong. The amount of red bean in this felt a little light, too, which was a bummer. -- MANGO PUREE Of the two, this was definitely better. The mango didn't have the sort of bright orange coloring I thought it would have, but it still tasted the part. The mango added just a slight sweetness and a freshness that I liked, especially when contrasted against the coconut jelly. While the taste of the two we tried may not have made a strong impression, I do think that the coconut jelly itself is quite impressive. The consistency is like a cross between jelly and pudding with a silky and smooth texture. Also, I really like how neither of the flavors that we got was super sweet despite how they looked. That being said, I'd be remiss not to mention the fact that MeloMelo's signature desserts aren't exactly budget friendly. Look, I don't mind spending for something unique, but, starting at $10 a pop (saw some that were $13+) for a small jar, this is definitely somewhat of a splurge. All in all, MeloMelo definitely deserves points for offering something that's so genuinely unique. At the very least, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to giving them another shot, especially to check out their only location in the Bay Area (Cupertino). However, if I'm visiting SoCal and happen to be in the area again, I'd rather spend the time and money on something new to try. THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now. read more

When I first tried MeloMelo after a meal in Beverly Hills in 2022, my life was changed forever. I had never tasted anything like it. In other words, PHENOMENAL!!! I really love it so much. I need them to open in the bay area. I like the original coconut to taste the base of pretty much everything there. Any flavor with fruit, like strawberry or mango, is a solid pick. I wouldn't recommend anything with overpowering flavor, like the Oreo flavor I got in Beverly Hills a couple years ago. I wouldn't try anything with matcha, caramel, nutella, sesame, or those kinds of things because I feel like the appeal of the stuff here is the creamy coconut base that is not too sweet. Plus, it would mean less of that premium coconut and more of the cheap ingredients for either the same price or more expensive. If anything, get your own toppings and mix it with the original yourself to get more "bang for your buck", to borrow the colloquialism. Place is small and cute. There's a sign that says you can eat anything in store except please don't open durian due to the smell. Fine by me, I don't like durian! But many people do. The basic flavors are $9.99, so not too bad. I believe they go up to $13.99 for more premium flavors. I kinda wish they didn't come in glass so they could be cheaper. I'd totally buy a gallon plastic jug of this for like $30. Or maybe bring your own container for a discount. I don't really have a use for the glass jars. They're nice, but for me, it's a waste. I feel like if heaven was real, this is what it would taste like. It reminds me of the line from Sailor Song that says: "when you get a taste, can you tell me what's my flavor? My fiancé and I have been seeing melo melo all over our social on our FYP and finally caved in to satisfy our sweet tooth while keeping our sugar intake in check before our wedding. I love coconut, and he doesn't, but we both really enjoyed it! The flavor was light, creamy, and naturally sweet. It really reminds me of tapioca pudding but cold and without the tapioca and strawberries on top. We originally wanted mango, but it was sold out, so we went with the second most recommended flavor, strawberry.
