Never knew this place was here. Drove by so many times, but what a pleasant surprise! Food was delicious and the music was great. Definitely a place for an older crow at night with a DJ. The service was a little slow, but the fact that she was so sweet made it up and very accommodating to our requests. I'll keep coming to enjoy the food and music on weekend, I almost forgot they are open super late unlike most places in the are.

    two trays of fried shrimp

I had been meaning to check this place out for a while, being that it is very close to home. The staff was very friendly and you could tell that they are trying to establish a customer fan base. I ordered a combo that came with shrimp, chicken wings, whiting fish, and fries. When the order came out there were two trays off food and I initially thought, wow, that's a lot of food for $20. Then he said the total, $37.00.... He definitely got my order wrong but I didn't make a fuss and just paid for it. Not sure if he thought I wanted two or added on someone else's order. So let talk about the food, shall we. The shrimp were nice size, seasoned well and fresh. The fish was pretty good too, I just wasn't crazy about the dark meat on the fish. Now for the chicken.... Chicken and fish shouldn't share the same seasoning or grease in my opinion. I was not a fan of the chicken, but the place isn't "chicken n' chips". I'll definitely order again, and next time I'm getting a slice of their cakes. They have delicious looking desserts.

    Brown Stew Fish Dinner

Wanted to try here after picking up GrubHub orders here and they smelled amazing. So I took a sit at the bar to order take out since the take out side of place was closed. The guy at bar, was very friendly and awesome. He took my order and explained my options for sides and made suggestions since it was my first time trying them myself. So I ordered brown stew fish dinner. It was nice he served me a drink of ice tea while I wait for my food. Incredible service here, can't state that enough , since it's hard to find places like this that good to their customers. So now the dinner, best fried fish ever, perfectly seasoned and crispy, the brown sauce poured on top was amazing, perfect balance of sweet and savory. Cornbread was sweet and loved how it had just right level of crust. Onion rings were crispy and well seasoned. have try them again

New location/sister restaurant to the Newburgh location. They have deliveries with a minimum 20.00 order as well they added some Caribbean/soul options I don't like the fries, hopefully they change brands or even better make fresh cut. All the fish we had was delicious I'm a big fan of the shrimp. The crab cakes were very good and the cornbread was sweet and moist. They are only open a month so give em a visit

To say this restaurant's location and exterior is unassuming is very much an understatement…read more Inside, it is beautiful and has a wonderful ambiance. It was most unusual that our party of four all ordered the same. We started with a special app - Fried Shrimp & Calamari. Soo Delish! We followed with the signature dish, Cod Fish & Chips. I have had this entree in, I'd estimate, 50 restaurants, including several in England where I think it originated. NONE even come close to here! Oh My - the two big, thick pieces of lightly battered fresh cod fried to perfection! Flaky, moist and delectable. It just doesn't get any better! Wow! The fresh, hand-cut thick fries were again fried to perfection. Golden crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. I don't know what their secret frying technique is or the type of oil they use but the flavor is light and delicious. Even their homemade coleslaw tastes like they just made it - so fresh with a little tang - Mmm! We ended with a very unique lemon flan, even though we all said we couldn't eat another thing. Overall, portions are generous (we took home some left overs!), service staff were friendly and attentive, and the Owner & Head Chef, Elmer came out to check on us and tell us some of his culinary encounters with blue fin tuna. Fascinating! A most enjoyable meal and experience. If you've never been, What the heck are you waiting for!

Chef Elmer works magic in the kitchen and behind the bar in this intimate setting designed to make you feel like the important guest you are. I went for my birthday last week and was fortunate enough to get to witness a Chef's Tasting event. The food my husband and I ordered for our meal was amazing, but now I have to go back for a tasting. If you haven't been, get there. If you're not interested in gourmet dining, enter through the door on the right, and get the fish and chips. They're the best I've had in the US. Either way, unless you have an aversion or allergy to seafood, it's a must do. Thank you Chef for a spectacular birthday meal and experience.

I've eaten at Brothers BBQ a handful of times and I feel confident enough at this point to tell you…read moreabout it. Now this is just my opinion, so don't get crazy. Compared to other bbq in the area, I believe Brothers is a winner. The food quality is great, and techniques of prep and cooking are perfectly mastered. The brisket has a flavorful crust and it breaks apart with a fork. The baked beans have all the right stuff to make them excellent. Baked Mac and cheese is BAKED. The chicken falls off the bone and smoked perfectly. Candied yams are perfect and you can actually taste the butter that you're SUPPOSED to bake into it, (they're the only ones who make it right) in my opinion. We ordered an appetizer of "burnt bacon ends", and so much flavor, and fall apart with a fork. The cocktails were potent, so beware . Did I say enough about the food? Even the service was great. One of the owners even swung by to see if we needed anything. If you haven't already gone, go. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere, and sometimes has live entertainment. You'll love it.

Still, it misses a few foundational beats when it comes to true Southern hospitality and comfort. Atmosphere & First Impressions From the outside, you might easily mistake the restaurant for being closed. The windows make it tough to see in, and on a rainy day with the outdoor seating empty, it feels a bit hidden away. You are greeted by a wonderfully comfortable waiting area featuring plush sofas and a seating bench. I also really appreciated seeing such a diverse crowd of customers dining here, which is especially refreshing to see for this area. Be warned before you walk through the door: bring a sweater. They do not skimp on the air conditioning; they blast it! On the positive side, the bathrooms are immaculate while keeping that traditional, classic BBQ joint feel. Seating & Service When we arrived, I requested a quieter area due to sensory sensitivities. We waited a bit and were ultimately seated right next to the noisy bar. It looked like there was a cozy little nook past the fireplace that would have been ideal, but it had a laptop sitting on it. Even for a Sunday supper, keeping areas like that closed off when a guest needs a quieter space felt like a missed opportunity. Our waitress was working double duty as a bartender, so she was straight to business. She was efficient enough to give us what we needed, but lacking that warm, conversational touch. At the end of the meal, we weren't thanked for coming in but told to drive safely. We were accidentally overcharged for a fountain soda we never ordered. While the waitress corrected it when pointed out, there was an absolute lack of an apology. Taking responsibility is part of the package. The Meal: Highs and Lows The Cornbread: Starting off, the meal kicks off with complimentary cornbread, but it comes with a couple of caveats. Depending on how you were raised, cornbread camps are deeply divided on sweetness. This version is very sweet, crumbly, and honey forward. It is almost tasting like a boxed Jiffy honey mix with some extras. Unfortunately, it was cold and served with ice cold, solid butter that wouldn't spread. If you want more, it's $2 a piece, a detail they really ought to mention upfront rather than leaving it as a surprise. It is nice that they give it complimentary but they are banking on you consuming it and when you get your BBQ you want more but have to pay. It would be nice to be upfront about this. The Meats: The barbecue itself delivers. The meat is smoked nicely. We sampled the pulled pork, brisket, chicken, and sausage, paired with table-side salt, pepper, and just one single type of BBQ sauce available on the table. The Sides & Fixins: The baked beans were good, but the sides could have been much hotter. The collard greens had a noticeable crunch from the stems and consisted strictly of greens without any pieces of pork or turkey mixed in. I liked that it was not too salty for my liking. As for the mac and cheese, it lacked that signature baked cheese crust on top as seen in photos online. Visiting around 5:30pm on a Sunday evening left us wondering if we caught the tail end of things or were served leftover portions. Tableware & Details The tableware leaves room for improvement. Aside from the metal meat trays, everything is served on melamine (plastic) plates rather than real ceramic and you are each given a cloth napkin. Furthermore, guests are only given butter knives, and the cutlery could definitely be elevated to better enjoy the experience - especially to ensure proper access to napkins for a messy barbecue meal. Drinks & Hospitality The Sweet Tea: The sweet tea is sweet and good. However, you are not offered a refill here. For a Southern style spot, not offering a complimentary or even low cost refill on sweet tea felt neglectful and impolite. It's a small touch of hospitality that goes a long way. With roots that spread throughout the south, I have not experienced this even consuming BBQ at home in NY. Other Drinks: Cocktails run around $16 a person (which made neighboring tables wince a bit at $32 for two drinks), but I thoroughly enjoyed a cold Shiner beer straight from Texas. My beer was $12 tall boy and COLD. Ultimately, despite a few missteps with the sides and service, they have the smoking technique down well. True Southern hospitality is about making folks feel welcome, warm, and genuinely cared for from the moment they step in to the moment they leave, and bringing more of that heart to the dining room would elevate this place immensely.
