*Consider this review to be closer to a 2.5 and not a 3* To start with, the building is cool. Love the vibe and decorations inside. Nice whiskey bar w some rare bottles on the shelf. Service was fast and friendly. Bartender was fine. I got the brisket and wasn't impressed. I know you gotta expect fat but there was a LOT especially for the price. My wife wasn't impressed w her meal either. The BBQ sauce is just ok. Not enough options to spice it up. Cornbread was good. The highlight of the meal were the beans (with chunks of apple!) Delicious. Prices at the bar were ridiculous. Everything was about double or more what they should be / what I normally pay. That left me getting Buffalo Trace for $10 which is still sorta crazy when we can buy a bottle for $30-40 in my area. Stagg for $100 per pour??? I understand it's a slightly rarer bottle but I've never paid more than $35 anywhere. Unfortunately I can't recommend the restaurant but your tastebuds or food order may differ.

My husband chose this spot because he was craving BBQ. He ordered the brisket with 2 sides and I ordered the smoked turkey. His meat was on the super fatty side and he was a little disappointed red in to. He loved their baked beans but the temp was like warm. The smoked turkey was good but the temp was also like warm. The smoke turkey comes with a white sauce but I wasn't a fan of it. The corn bread was very good! But corn bread and BBQ goes hand in hand. Overall, pretty good BBQ for the area.

Sampling of a little of everything.

Delicious BBQ. I'm not a super traveled person but wouldn't expect that quality of bbq in New York State. Don't sleep on the sides too especially the corn bread. Service was great with friendly staff. Highly recommended.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and assisted with how to order. You choose your meat, meal and sides at the far counter, pay, and find your seat. We ordered a pound of brisket, a pound of pulled pork and a full rack of ribs with some sides. We decided to eat out by the picnic table and the same person that greeted us actually came out to see how we were doin - that was nice coz usually you get forgotten. Let me tell you, we were impressed at how tender and moist the meats were!!! - hard to do if you cooked them early and just sitting there and waiting to be served. We do eat at the other two BBQ places around the area and they can be dry. We did comment that it was a little under seasoned for our taste but nothing the sauce can't fix. I loved the bourbon heavy bar, not a typical offering here at Hudson Valley, so if you love bourbon then this is the place to be. The only thing that's missing are the cigars . If you want to taste tender juicy BBQ meats, then head out to Handsome Devil.

Brown bag special, I chose the beef brisket sandwich.

This restaurant is relatively new in this area. There is ample parking, the place is clean and you can smell the smoker doing its thing when you enter. There is a full bar on the right side of the restaurant. You walk straight in and go to the counter to place your order. The waitress was really helpful and explained how the menu was laid out. Everything is ala carte here. I had the brown bag special: beef brisket sandwich, apple pie baked beans (the beans had baked apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon), banana pudding, and a can of pop. The brisket was really tender, and the bbq sauce was good. The banana pudding was good, too. This place caters also. Next time I visit, I will try another option on the menu. Cash/Credit/Debit are accepted here.

It's a beautiful large space that smells amazing when you walk in the door. The food is superb. We love absolutely everything on the menu! One cornbread is enough for 2 people to share.

First off the food is outstanding! Second this is truly legit Texas bbq in NY! Couldn't be more proud of Ed and his team! The food is amazing! Flavor on target! The brisket is met in your mouth good! The ribs are outstanding, Mac n cheese is creamy and rich and the potato salad is very good! Great mix of items along with kick butt smoked wings! Worth the drive if you in NY! Looking for a great bar to wash down your food with? They got you covered! Is we why they win so many competitions and will continue to as the food has pure love in it!

Another awesome experience, the folks behind the counter were so gracious even though we came in only about 15 minutes before closing AND even threw an extra rib in when my son said how much he loved them. Every time I come here, the service is exceptional and this is the best BBQ in the county (I'm no snob or aficionado but will absolutely die on this hill) For my meatless friends, their crispy cauliflower is not to be missed! I'm continuing to work my way through the menu but everything so far has been great, even their desserts!

Good time vibes. Fully stock bar with amazing brisket. Thai chilli cauliflower is great side. Kids loved the Mac n cheese as well

When we pulled in I was surprised, because it's away from the more "populated" area and in a little area with a bank? But the ambiance and vibe of this place is cool. The bathroom is beautiful. But that's not what you're here for, is it? The food was.....okay. I would say I enjoyed the Turkey the most, followed by the brisket. Brisket was peppery, with a nice bark. Pulled pork was cold and greasy. Ribs were chewy. I assumed the onions were pickled, and maybe they were supposed to be, but they were just....wet onions. No vinegar or sweetness, just....wet and strong onion flavor. The pickles themselves were pretty good. The sides and desserts were the saving grace - the apple pie baked beans LEGITIMATELY taste like apple pie filling. There were apples in the beans. The banana pudding was a little sweet for my taste, but it was good! The sweet tea was decent too. The guy that took our order/heated our food was super nice, the woman that we paid less so. I don't think this review is going to hurt them, they definitely have the feel of a neighborhood institution and were busy. They appear to win competitions with their BBQ (but competition BBQ isn't the same as eatin' BBQ...) but I probably won't be back (it was an hour+ drive, sorry!)

The best pulled pork ever! My brother took me here n told I would love and he is right! I don't usually eat meat but this was really good! It's not a table service but the service we got was great- super nice girls. Really cool place.

Very spacious, family style layout with the generous bar and wide open parking lot. That's just the first impression. I got to say they got some very generous servings even of Texas style barbecue being handed out over at this place. Probably some of the best greens that I've ever had of the collard type. Can't really go wrong with anything you order here as you can see from the tray in the pictures below. Easily share between two people. Bartender came by and checked on us a few times to see if we needed A refresher on the cocktails and the folks serving up the food were very courteous and friendly. Definitely would come back again

I've eaten at Brothers BBQ a handful of times and I feel confident enough at this point to tell you…read moreabout it. Now this is just my opinion, so don't get crazy. Compared to other bbq in the area, I believe Brothers is a winner. The food quality is great, and techniques of prep and cooking are perfectly mastered. The brisket has a flavorful crust and it breaks apart with a fork. The baked beans have all the right stuff to make them excellent. Baked Mac and cheese is BAKED. The chicken falls off the bone and smoked perfectly. Candied yams are perfect and you can actually taste the butter that you're SUPPOSED to bake into it, (they're the only ones who make it right) in my opinion. We ordered an appetizer of "burnt bacon ends", and so much flavor, and fall apart with a fork. The cocktails were potent, so beware . Did I say enough about the food? Even the service was great. One of the owners even swung by to see if we needed anything. If you haven't already gone, go. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere, and sometimes has live entertainment. You'll love it.

Yelps rating scale: 1 star: Not good…read more 2 stars: Could've been better 3 stars: OK 4 Stars: Good 5 Stars: Great A Taste of North Carolina in the City: High Smoke, Mixed Hospitality If you are looking for authentic barbecue with roots straight out of North Carolina, reportedly run by three brothers from the state, though we didn't spot them during our visit, this spot has the craft down, and it is definitely one of the better BBQ places I have been in NY. Still, it misses a few foundational beats when it comes to true Southern hospitality and comfort. Atmosphere & First Impressions From the outside, you might easily mistake the restaurant for being closed. The windows make it tough to see in, and on a rainy day with the outdoor seating empty, it feels a bit hidden away. You are greeted by a wonderfully comfortable waiting area featuring plush sofas and a seating bench. I also really appreciated seeing such a diverse crowd of customers dining here, which is especially refreshing to see for this area. Be warned before you walk through the door: bring a sweater. They do not skimp on the air conditioning; they blast it! On the positive side, the bathrooms are immaculate while keeping that traditional, classic BBQ joint feel. Seating & Service When we arrived, I requested a quieter area due to sensory sensitivities. We waited a bit and were ultimately seated right next to the noisy bar. It looked like there was a cozy little nook past the fireplace that would have been ideal, but it had a laptop sitting on it. Even for a Sunday supper, keeping areas like that closed off when a guest needs a quieter space felt like a missed opportunity. Our waitress was working double duty as a bartender, so she was straight to business. She was efficient enough to give us what we needed, but lacking that warm, conversational touch. At the end of the meal, we weren't thanked for coming in but told to drive safely. We were accidentally overcharged for a fountain soda we never ordered. While the waitress corrected it when pointed out, there was an absolute lack of an apology. Taking responsibility is part of the package. The Meal: Highs and Lows The Cornbread: Starting off, the meal kicks off with complimentary cornbread, but it comes with a couple of caveats. Depending on how you were raised, cornbread camps are deeply divided on sweetness. This version is very sweet, crumbly, and honey forward. It is almost tasting like a boxed Jiffy honey mix with some extras. Unfortunately, it was cold and served with ice cold, solid butter that wouldn't spread. If you want more, it's $2 a piece, a detail they really ought to mention upfront rather than leaving it as a surprise. It is nice that they give it complimentary but they are banking on you consuming it and when you get your BBQ you want more but have to pay. It would be nice to be upfront about this. The Meats: The barbecue itself delivers. The meat is smoked nicely. We sampled the pulled pork, brisket, chicken, and sausage, paired with table-side salt, pepper, and just one single type of BBQ sauce available on the table. The Sides & Fixins: The baked beans were good, but the sides could have been much hotter. The collard greens had a noticeable crunch from the stems and consisted strictly of greens without any pieces of pork or turkey mixed in. I liked that it was not too salty for my liking. As for the mac and cheese, it lacked that signature baked cheese crust on top as seen in photos online. Visiting around 5:30pm on a Sunday evening left us wondering if we caught the tail end of things or were served leftover portions. Tableware & Details The tableware leaves room for improvement. Aside from the metal meat trays, everything is served on melamine (plastic) plates rather than real ceramic and you are each given a cloth napkin. Furthermore, guests are only given butter knives, and the cutlery could definitely be elevated to better enjoy the experience - especially to ensure proper access to napkins for a messy barbecue meal. Drinks & Hospitality The Sweet Tea: The sweet tea is sweet and good. However, you are not offered a refill here. For a Southern style spot, not offering a complimentary or even low cost refill on sweet tea felt neglectful and impolite. It's a small touch of hospitality that goes a long way. With roots that spread throughout the south, I have not experienced this even consuming BBQ at home in NY. Other Drinks: Cocktails run around $16 a person (which made neighboring tables wince a bit at $32 for two drinks), but I thoroughly enjoyed a cold Shiner beer straight from Texas. My beer was $12 tall boy and COLD. Ultimately, despite a few missteps with the sides and service, they have the smoking technique down well. True Southern hospitality is about making folks feel welcome, warm, and genuinely cared for from the moment they step in to the moment they leave, and bringing more of that heart to the dining room would elevate this place immensely.
