Had a wonderful experience at my first time eating at Lucy's Taco Shop! I ate in their spotless…read moredining area (the restroom was immaculate too). They have a huge menu on display. There are 27 combo plates that include rice and refried beans. Most are bargain priced at $14.25 (only three were $17 for shrimp). I had a burrito bowl with carnitas. It was very tasty with a large portion of pork, pico de gallo, rice, refried beans, guacamole and sour cream topped with shredded lettuce and cheese. It was a lot to eat for $13. Portions are substantial and most patrons left with a box to take the remainder of their meals home. They have long hours from 7 am to 11 pm seven days a week. I noticed that they have an extensive breakfast menu too. Delivery of the food was very fast both for the dining in and drive-thru customers. One thing to note about their location. They're in the former Jack in the Box building on the corner of Cheryl Lane and Highway 99 across from the vacant Ray's Food Place in Phoenix. If you're driving from the south on Highway 99 you cannot cross the median to drive into the restaurant. You need to turn left at the light into the Ray's parking lot (or drive straight at the light into Ray's if coming from I-5), turn right and cross Cheryl Lane to get into their parking area or turn into the drive-thru for Lucy's Taco Shop. Leaving is back through the parking area to Cheryl Lane. Phoenix has a confusing interchange to get onto I-5. When you're leaving. drive past the Chevron station to turn left by the former Rite Aid to head towards the freeway entrances. Join Highway 99 in either direction from the light coming out of Ray's parking lot. It's worth the driving logistics the first time to get to Lucy's Taco Shop to support this family owned business. I know it won't be the last time I eat there!

We've been stuck on the East Coast for 15 years and I legit almost cried after my first bite of tamale - it tasted like home. Pro tip: get the half order of nachos unless you're trying to go into a food coma. We still crushed every last chip and were absolutely stuffed, but there was no way we were letting any of it go to waste.

There is not one thing I would change about this restaurant. Making the reservation on their…read morewebsite site was easy. We showed up at 5 and were greeted by the same fabulous woman as last time. You just know that someone that kind and welcoming would not own a place she wasn't rightfully proud of. She sets the tone and all the employees carry it through the entire meal. We chose to try the patio tonight and it was cozy yet open, darker with a couple of fire lights around the room. Intimate. Some of the tables are separated by live plants in planter boxes. We loved it. We started with the beets (with shaved fennel pieces and a citrus vinaigrette with a tahini yogurt sauce on the bottom) and burrata (with grilled pieces of bread and sugar snap peas and capers) appetizers - both were delicious. Randy wanted to try another of their off menu drinks. We can't remember what this drink is called but it's not on the menu and has some Mai tai mix and orange bitters ... like a mock Mai tai spritzer. Delicious - Randy had two! I got the mushroom bolognese - so good. It's home made (!) bucatini pasta with a mushroom (cremini, oyster and shiitake) and san Marzano tomato sauce with burrata on top. I love mushrooms but Randy does not and he loved this dish. The mushrooms taste meaty. Randy ordered the Carbonara again and it was also delicious. We also got an order of garlic bread this time and wow. We each have half of our dinners left, lucky us. We shared the creme brûlée which came with a lavender short bread cookie. Perfect. Everything was perfect. The place was packed and all employees were calm and efficient and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Ambiance is perfect. Cocktails are awesome. The only thing we have yet to try is their desserts, only because we are always too full by the end of the meal. Highly recommend Cocorico!
