Had to check out Brothers on Oak since they earned a spot in the Beef Council's best burger in WI contest 2025. The place is a bar, yes, but it has a warm welcoming feeling and is very family friendly. Our server scored a 10 on the happy scale and was attentive & accurate. We both ordered the October burger special named The French Connection. Nicely cooked burger with loads of caramelized onions and melty cheese. We were visiting and looked up the best burger in Baraboo. This is it! I split the Bro Mac and Fat Elvis. The Bro Mac is renewed classic burger that is filled with flavor. The fat Elvis is from another planet. When you hear the ingredients, it shouldn't work. When you taste the flavor, FORGET IT. Cheese, banana, peanut butter, smoked spicy bacon jam, on a bun. On Easter Sunday evening, after a very busy day, we drove north to the Wisconsin Dells to our home-away-from-home resort. We needed to eat dinner before checking in, and you can imagine that due to the holiday, it was VERY hard to find something open! Yelp to the rescue! We had never been to what would be considered downtown Baraboo. It was quite far from the expressway, maybe 12 miles, passing farm homes, huge barns & silos, Heartland scenery that must be beautiful in the Spring/Summer during daylight hours. Brothers on Oak is primarily a bar with a small pool table towards the back, electronic dart board, and some nights with live music. Although not on the printed menu, there are signs as you enter promoting their Reuben sandwich. My husband and I both ordered it, he with fries and mine with onion rings! Oh my.... SO GOOD! Very friendly service, although it took a while for them to get to us for our order. And the restrooms are clean and sanitary-smelling! Great find! read more

4 stars for the food. Service not so much. I went to the restroom and beer and cheese curds were gone. I was told I had been moved for locals to sit together at the bar. The bartender got me another beer on the house but left an impression. I went ahead and left after a few sips. I get the local couple will tip more in the long run but still, I thought it was rude. Very slow service and bar was not busy. It took close to a hour for our table to have our food and one of us had to retrieve the food baskets for our table because they were just sitting on counter getting cold. Unacceptable. They had two cooks and one bartender. The other cook should have delivered the baskets. We paid in advance for our food and drinks and tipped bartender well (which we regret). The red bearded bartender appeared grumpy and ignored one person from our group who tried to order more drinks. They didnt clear table that were dirty and had stacked empty food baskets and empty glassware and beer bottles. Lame place. Food tasted good even though warm not hot so tave them 2 star. read more

Brothers is an experience. It's a dive bar, but has great food (better and more interesting than typical dive bar food), lots of events and activities (trivia, darts, pool table, raffles, etc.), and friendly bar tenders. Good prices on drinks and food. This bar has a sign it is a Safe Place for LGBTQ+ folks, and I have found that to be true. Enjoy! Oh yeah also the bathrooms are CLEAN and NICE- way better than most bar bathrooms. They are Mens and Womens though, no gender-neutral or single stall bathroom. read more

Fantastic food. This place is just a tiny dive bar but the food is fantastic. We had garlic parmesan wings and bacon cheeseburger fries. Wings here are so unique! Breaded but not "bready". Hard to describe becuz I normally don't like breaded wings but these were crispy and to die for. Great sauce. Cheeseburger fries were the best loaded fries I've ever had in my life. We always have an enjoyable and carefree time coming to Brothers On Oak! It's my husband's favorite spot for a drink on the weekend. Great selection of drinks and a menu with items suited for everyone, all at reasonable prices. They don't have my absolute favorite burgers or food in town, but they're decent (still, my husband's favorite though). The staff are great, super enjoyable to talk to and all have an excellent sense of humor -one of my favorite parts of coming here. Even the owner is awesome! Best thing? They throw a mean party! If you don't stop by on Halloween, you're missing out. Apparently they did some amazing things during the last season of Game of Thrones, which I missed but had rave reviews. First of all, friendliest bartenders in the world. Whatever you want, they will make happen and make you feel like you're family. Second, let's talk shots. After all, we are at a bar. Fruit loop shots, sweet tart shots, strawberry shots... The list does not end. Top of all of with their "cheese cubes", you would think you died and went to heaven. We're from Chicago and it was our first time staying at Baraboo. We went to brothers on oak for lunch. It seemed closed at first but when we went in it was actually a really nice sports bar. It had seven tvs and great ambiance. The bartender was super friendly like most people in Baraboo. Anyways, we had a few beers and then we were ready for a round of shots so we asked the bartender what he recommend, so he made us a couple bombs he said was his timeown creation I think it was root beer with an irish liquor... I always have a great time at Brothers on Oak when I visit from Chicago. The music is fun, the bar is clean, and the cheese cubes are amazing! I can't say enough great things about the staff. Grant, Garrett and Cody rocked! Who leaves a bar knowing everyones names and they knew all of ours as well. That's how great they treat you! They even have USB ports alongside the bar so you can charge your phone right next to you #winning If you like to have a good time with your friends I recommend trying the scoopy shots! You legit take shots out of this mini ice scooper and the flavors are so great. I love the loopie but they are all good- you can't go wrong. Great Bar Staff, friendly place to go. Has a good mix of younger and a few older clientele, but mostly younger. Just added a menu, it has some cool items like a duck wrap with orange sauce, cheesesteak, and their specialty burger, which is the Bro Burger, along with the usual suspects such as fries and onion rings and awesome fried mozz. They have a few newer bar slots, a pool table, and darts, clean bathrooms, reasonable drink and food prices. Check it out the next time you are on the Baraboo Square, for no other reason than it's a little bit newer and more updated and fresh than the other bars in the area. read more

Went to Devils Head sking. Afterwards wanted to find a local bar to hang and get some good food. We picked Brothers Oak and made the right choice. The wings were awesome and the burger was great. My husband and I are trying out a few restaurants in Baraboo and we decided to try Brothers On Oak. The first thing I noticed upon entering was the very strong smell of beer and old cigarettes. Ok, it's a bar so I get the beer smell but it's been quite a while since smoking was allowed in bars but there it was. There must have been a roof leak because there was a huge dehumidifier in the middle of the bar trying to dry out a wet carpet. All of this was not too appealing. The restaurant/bar could use an update or good cleaning. The bartender looked at us with suspicion when we entered the bar as if he thought we were going to try to sell him something. He wasn't very friendly, no greeting or "hello". You'd think by now we would have turned and just walked out but we didn't, we wanted to try this place?? The bartender was also the cook. The food was OK and when he realized we weren't salesmen he did warm up to us a little bit. Not really our kind of place and will not return but we checked this one off our Baraboo restaurant list. read more
