While under the house, they noticed the bathroom and kitchen sink drains had been leaking for some time since the 60+ year old pipes had corroded. They recommended I contact Dry Pro to clean up the water and sink debris under the house. When Dry Pro finished, they coordinated with Benchmark to come back. Then Levi and his apprentice Ryan replaced the worn-out piping under the house. They were very efficient and explained everything before and during the work. I've dealt with a number of plumbers over the years and have never had the pleasure to work with someone like Levi and Ryan from Benchmark Plumbing. As I said, Levi carefully explained the work to be done, offering an option that would save time and money on the drain pipe repair. After these service visits from Benchmark Plumbing and getting to know Levi and Ryan, I feel like I had my plumbing repair done by a couple of old friends. Now the negatives-  1.I asked for their most experienced crew and I was promised this certain team (I even verified a few days before as well). They sent a different team.  2. They do not sanitize the brushes and wands that go into your ducts which means they are introducing into your ducts everything from previous jobs- which could be rodent droppings and urine, dust mites, mold, diseases from dead animals, etc. I had the foresight to know this and asked them to please sanitize the brushes and wands first. I hope they did. 3. After they finished, they could not get the system back up and running. They tried for an hour and then I called the supervisor and he walked them through it (an extra hour of my time and a lot of angst on a Friday afternoon with 95 degree forecast over the weekend). 4. After they left I noticed the grilles were not on right (turned the wrong way, old paint showing where not lined up right, and screws missing), the return register was tightened so much all four corners were bent, the plaster was cracked on many sides of the registers and the return, the screws to the furnace were not tightened, the door where the filter goes was not shut tight. They came back out to fix what they could (another 2 hours of my time), but thank goodness I checked and noticed. 5. And I am not sure my system was left in the same working order it was in, the air flow actually seems diminished instead of better.

So many issues with their installation. We had them install a unit and have issues all the time…read morewith it. It is under warranty, and when something goes wrong, they are in no hurry to find the parts. We had to chase them down to get them to honor the warranty, and they were unconcerned about leaving us without heat for 6-7 weeks in January. Now we have a new issue come up and they said it's only with one of the heads. And, as long as the back unit stays off, we should be able to have A/C until the new part comes again (who knows how long that will be given last time it was over a month). Two hours after they left, unit stopped working again. Another season where JCO leaves us hanging without a working unit. Quality of new install, customer service, and diagnostics have all been unsatisfactory. Update: JCO diagnosed the issue during their visit as requiring a new PCB. I ran the self-correction for the wiring on the unit myself and the issue was rectified. So, the issue was related to them miswiring things at the last maintenance fix, and then misdiagnosing the issue at their latest visit. It's also convenient that their diagnosis would have required us to pay them for additional maintenance.

What's interesting is when we purchased our home 5 years ago, we hired them to look over the existing old system. What was great is that they mentioned 3 or 4 things that needed to be repaired, but also said they were things I could do myself much cheaper. So, instead of me paying a few thousand dollars for simple repairs, I did it myself for a few hundred. So, not only did they help me squeeze 5 more years out of the old system at a minimal cost, they proved honest and ethical HVAC companies DO exist, which is the primary reason they got our business. They did a great job, were finished in just a few hours, and I have a new sewer line working great for less than half of the other quotes I got. Fantastic company and a fantastic crew! **ORIGINAL REVIEW** Terrence and Jacob showed up at 4:30 p.m. to clear my sewer line. They both worked hard in the heat for 2 hours to clear large patch of very stubborn sludge in the line, then refused to charge me because they weren't able to clear the line as promised. They are coming back tomorrow morning with the large hydrojetter to finish the job and charge me once the line is cleared. They were both honest, very nice, communicated clearly, and have been a pleasure to work with. I personally really appreciate this kind of honesty and I reward it whenever I can. I'm going to hire them to fix that belly in my sewer line which is a much larger job with a much higher price tag than what I originally called them for. Terrence's bid was substantially lower than the other two bids I got for the same work.

Even though the part was fully covered under warranty, Alpine insisted we pay for the labor, $1,100 in refrigerant, and the $125 service fee. When I questioned the charges, they simply threw the warranty at me and pointed to the line saying refrigerant isn't covered -- as if that excused a failure that shouldn't have happened in the first place. Their original bill came to $1,750 for a problem that wasn't ours to begin with. Being charged for someone else's mistake just doesn't sit right with me. I asked multiple times for the service manager to call me so we could discuss the charges. He didn't call until two weeks after the repair was already completed. He claimed he had called several times, but after checking my call log, he had only called once -- and didn't leave a message. If you're looking for a company that stands behind their work and communicates honestly, you may want to look elsewhere.

Seems pretty sketchy to be able to take down negative reviews when all the facts are accurate. Get their pricing up front and never have them arrive after 2 pm!
