Awesome sandwiches! Bread is important in a sandwich. Some bread, the crust is just blah. The sandwiches here are made with nice crispy crust, not hard, just perfect. Like bread you get from San Francisco delis. And there are so many different sandwiches to chose from! My sons eat subway cause it's convenient, the thought subway was "it". The sandwiches are fresh, meaty, and simple. Being new to El Paso, I dont know a lot of local places to eat. My husband heard about The Brown Bag Deli so we went and tried it. The line is always long at lunch so be patient cause its worth it. I always try something different so I cant recommend just one sandwich. I've lived in El Paso for almost five years I'm sad, and yet delighted to say this is one of my fondest memories here. Unfortunately, it's in a slightly unsavory part of town, where there's no shortage of pawn shops and homeless people are a common sight. It's tucked in between a gas station and a haircut business (which I'd also recommend) and if you aren't looking for it specifically, you'll probably miss it. The inside is also kind of disappointing honestly. Everything feels like it was bought 20 years ago and hasn't been maintained and replaced. The decorations are also comically mismatched and hodgepodge. Random old knickknacks and posters from different centuries and styles. That all being said, it's absolutely worth it. The food is made with care and is absolutely delicious. You really get that small town deli feel while eating there. Unless you REALLY prefer a cold sandwich, I would try yours heated. read more

It was pretty good, I don't eat Pastrami and I was craving a pastrami sub being pregnant and all and I got a hot pastrami sub and it was very tasty, not stingy on the meat also. read more

If you want actual subs, not little tiny ones from subway, then look no farther. All of the subs I have had there have been outstanding. When you get a combo, you almost get a full size bag of chips. You can get a big one if you want as well for just a buck more. Would have given it five stars if it was more clean but that is part of the charm. Today i was very disappointed in my order, i order the same thing a number 9 every time.. usually its turkey ham swiss mustard mayo and cole slaw... today i got no mayo no mustard no pickles no tomatoes the whole bun was cut, also big a** chunks of pineapple... which have never been on my sandwich tht I've been eating since last year.. I'm very dissatisfied bc customer service didn't even ask if i wanted the right sandwich they just said sorry... id have to say this is my last time ill be eating from here. read more

I would not even give this place One star if I could. Horrible. We purchased a cheese steak and it was DRY, BURNT and just Nasty!. The so called Corned Beef Sandwich on Rye was totally LOW Quality. The Rye Bread was simply white bread with seeds in it and the Corned Beef was over salted and not even real Jewish Corned Beef. The pickles provided were bottled and very cheap, vinegary tasting. As for the Potato Salad.....all mayonaise with very little seasoning for flavor. We are from Philadelphia, PA., and we KNOW Quality Deli Sandwiches. And the Brown Bag Deli WAS Not even Close to True Deli Sandwiches! Never AGAIN! read more

The wait every time I come, whether it's lunch or dinner, is always so long. I even call in my order every time I eat here and it seems every time I come here there's one person making sandwiches and one taking calls and running the cashier. Very slow service. I've been going here for decades for my "sand-wishes". Bread, veggies, cheese, and meats have always been fresh and my sandwiches have consistently tasted better than subs from national chains. The owner cares about quality and has changed deli brands since I first ate there and I have no complaints. The restaurant is locally owned and the owner provides great service. The deli is in a shopping center and it is obvious the landlord doesn't spend money on the facility or building updates, which is common is small shopping centers. Unlike many other small business restaurants, they are still in business for many good reasons. read more

Been here a couple times, always pleased by the selection of meats available to make delicious personalized sandwiches/subs. The folks here have a system, and it's obvious why: they're very popular! Bought a jumbo pastrami on 8/22/16. Got home, ate half of it. Tasted more like roast beef than pastrami. Put the rest in for refrigerator overnight. Took the rest to work for lunch. (while keeping the sandwich cold) Smelled soured when I opened it at lunch. Threw it in the trash. YUCK! read more

This is a great little hole in the wall deli. Yes, the decor leaves much to be desired. Assuming you're not too hung up on your surroundings and came for the food you should be pleased. We've gotten quite a few different items from the menu over our many visits here and enjoyed all of them. We generally do take out and bring them home to eat, but you can sit in a booth or at a table there if you so choose. Overall a good, solid, reasonably priced sub experience that hasn't had complaints from me or the kids. read more

I have never been so grossed out. The person helping me went from the dishes, to taking my payment, to making my salad without washing their hands. The place smelled funny and the prep area was filthy. Oh i had to sign my receipt with a sweaty pen pulled from the cashiers ear, BARF. I gave my salad away, never going back. I'm sure the health dept wouldn't pass them on an inspection. read more
