If I could give this place zero stars , I would. I ordered the Mambo Italiano, minus the onions. I have to say, this is one of the absolute worst sandwiches I've ever had in my 50+ years. The bread was so undercooked that it stuck to the wrapper and ripped to shreds upon opening. Additionally, it was so nauseatingly sweet that it overpowered any other flavors within the sandwich. The meats were also bland and flavorless, as was the white shallot balsamic dressing. I wish I had ample words to describe how utterly disappointing it was. If you're going to brand yourself around sandwiches, you'd think you'd at least make edible sandwiches. This place is worse than Subway (who I consider pure garbage)!!! I honestly haven't heard of Brown Bag until I started working at a non profit near by. It's becoming one of my favorites for their salads and wide variety of sandwich choices. Pricing is a little high, but I do think the quality is worth it. My go to meals are: Salads with Buffalo Chicken, Feta, Lettuce, Onions, Pickle, Cucumber and Balsamic Vinegar. Super yummy. OR Sandwich: Jalapeno Ched Bun, With Ham, Feta, lettuce, onion, pickle, mayo and mustard. It's a wonderful combo. The chocolate chip cookies are absolutely delicious too. Not as brightly coloured as the Pink Pouch Deli or the Turqouise Tote Deli. I always thought these sandwiches were overrated but I think this location is actually not bad. I'll definitely be coming back again to see if they might go up to five or down to 2 or 3, but service was nice and Barbi's sister enjoyed the turkey sandwich, and I enjoyed the half that I got. I don't really like turkey sandwiches so what I need to do is I need to try one of the sandwiches that I actually might like and see how good it really is. read more

Before I rant about my experience, I did notice that the latest review was posted was roughly 4 months ago... Let's start with the positives: -very convenient to my work place -very clean restrooms -indoor/outdoor seating...I appreciated that they offered outdoor seating and the tables are made of wood while the chairs are metal. It's only two tables but I love that there's an option and it was maintained and kept clean. The tables were not dirty, or rickety, or uneven. Not sure if COVID-19 affected the number of employees, and loss of staff maybe?...but during a bustling lunch hour, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to get a sandwich. My sister came to have lunch with me, and we waited over thirty minutes to get our sandwiches. We waited, and waited...felt like forever, and for a person who eats slow, this was incredibly frustrating because now I had to rush and scarf down half my sandwich! While they showed that they were hustling, there just weren't enough team members in the back to handle the amount of food orders they received during the lunch hour. I mean their back counter was covered in brown paper bags yet to be fulfilled. Also a bit unorganized. My sister ordered both our sandwiches under her name, because she paid for both, and when my sandwich came out, her name was not written on the bag, only a number. While that number may be listed on a receipt, as a customer, idk what that number means. I was expecting my sisters name to be written on BOTH bags since she purchased them. I checked the bag and knew what I ordered, but someone could have easily taken my order thinking it was theirs. Customer service wasn't great either. Overall, the experience was meh. I want to start off by saying I've been going to brown bag for many years. My fiancé and I love the quality and ingredients. Things sure have changed. We had a sandwich gonna and a salad combo for $30. Back in the day they would pile your sandwich or salad high with ingredients. We got avocado in the sandwich and it had one slice on it. There was very little tuna on the sandwich as well. I asked for oil and vinegar for the salad and did not receive it. I got a dry salad. I also only have 5 olives on the salad and very little lettuce, pickle and tuna on it. It was as if I ordered a half salad. It was very disappointing. We have gone to this location for years and to the old location on westheimer before that. I understand if you are giving smaller portions, but then don't raise the price and at least give dressing for a salad. Also if you're charging more than the cost of a whole avocado then at least give more than a slice. Such a sad experience. read more

We recently came to Houston to open up one of our new buildings and was looking for a sandwich place in the area, and I am happy to say we were truly impressed with the quality of the food. Sandwiches all came individually bagged outlining what was ordered the cookies were amazing and I can say I can be a cookie snob but these were delicious. Rice Krispies we're nice and chewy, the side salads turned out tasty as well... we didn't experience any issues with anyone's order. The online ordering was a breeze, delivery driver was on time very friendly and made sure everything was in order. Our company will definitely order again . read more

Not only are the sandwiches good, they're very generous with the meats, which makes for a filling sandwich. If your looking for a higher quality yummy sandwich shop this is the place for you. It's a customizable sandwich shop that has pretty much anything you could want. One warning though the pricing is a little high about $8.00 for just a sandwich. To be fair that could be a normal price for that area and as a tourist I could just be wrong. I got a turkey on rye with all my favorite sandwich fixings and it was good. The lettuce was quality lettuce and not some shredded lettuce stuff. Brown Bag is usually my spot to go when I want a sandwich near work. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very clean every time I've visited. The process is simply, Grab and Bag and fill out what type and sandwich you want with what you want on there. I like that, better than telling the sandwich maker you want this or that. Price point is about $8 a sandwich by itself. A little steep, but you do get a good quality sandwich for that price. My only grip is the sandwich can come of dry, with the amount of meat they put on. I rarely ever taste the mayo I've requested. If you opt for oil and vinegar get ready for sticky and soggy bread. All and all I still prefer this place than subway. read more

I have visited two - three times. The sandwiches are good but the service is pretty spotty. One time they forgot to put chips in our to go order bag. The last time I was put on hold for five minutes. But they didn't press the hold button I literally sat on the phone for five minutes I could hear him taking other people's orders and having conversations. I called back twice the first time it was busy the second time they answered and I asked to speak to a manager. I received a half ass apology and then he proceeded to take my order. Let me tell you how wonderful this group is!! Our office usually orders from them when we have visitors in our plant. Today was no exception, we ordered our lunches early and then came the floods that stranded us at the facility. We contacted them to see if we could get a credit or get the sandwiches on another day and the employee we talked to was very understanding. He stated that he could not credit us back, that our sandwiches were made, and that he would bring them by because they were closing in a few minutes due to the same flooding. He not only delivered them to us, he waded thru water and over train tracks to make sure that we had our lunches. I didn't catch his name but we will be sure to catch up with him and his manager to let them know how much we appreciate his efforts. They have moved up on our list of places to order from. I had never been to a BBD before, so I didn't know you actually write on a brown bag! You put down what you want and then hand it over to the cashier and pay. You can then watch them assemble your food. The sandwich I ordered was 1/2 turkey 1/2 ham on wheat. The wheat bread is amazing. They definitely give you a ton of meat to go with that bread. I also got the bbq potato chips (just ok) and a chocolate chip cookie (very good). Because we were heading straight back to the meeting, I got a drink to go too. I was so pleasantly surprised when the ice came out in the small cubes, sonic style. I hate sonic but they have great ice! I asked nicely and was given a second cup for free so I could take some extra ice away. All of this for a bit over $10. It wasn't as cheap as I had heard, but I guess the cookie and the chips pushed it over the $10 mark? I do think you should be able to get all of that for under $10, thus the 4 stars instead of 5. I was nearby and looking for lunch at a place that I haven't visited before. I saw the good reviews for here and stopped by. This deli is primarily a sandwich place where you fill out your order on a brown sandwich bag with how you want your sandwich constructed and then they make it that way. They offer the sandwich only and also combos that include a side like chips, etc. and a drink. I decided to get a sandwich only and take it home to eat. I ordered a roast beast with Swiss cheese on rye bread. The sandwich was $6.95 and would have cost about $3 more with a drink and side. The sandwich took less than 5 minutes to make. I paid and was out the door. When I got home I opened it and began eating. It was a good sandwich with a lot of meat. I enjoyed it but decided I could only give a score of a 3. Again it was a good sandwich but at $7 before tax I thought it was expensive for what I received. I felt it should have been at least $1 less and maybe more. So food wise it was good just not much of a value for the type of place that should provide value. read more

I always used to drive by the one on Westheimer near Kirby on my way to Agora but I never tried until a few days ago my coworker and I were talking about sandwiches and he recommended this to me. OH MY GOD! BEST SANDWICHES EVER! It's like they know how to stuff them and cut them and wrap them! I highly recommend getting the Combo #2: Sandwich + Side + Drink. It leaves you with such a great satisfaction. Last time I had their oven roasted turkey on wheat with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and honey mustard! HONEY MUSTARD: Absolutely mouthwatering just thinking about it. And I had the kaleslaw. I highly recommend getting the kaleslaw. It has little bits of golden raisins that just brighten up your day.
