I have eaten here about 3 to 4 times. I stared off loving them but slowly realized the meat quality is not well. I had to switch the meats when I got home, what is the point of getting a sandwich when you don't like the lunch meat that comes on it....

This place is a sandwich shop that time forgot! Overall a very chill ambiance and a mom and pop shop feel. The folks fixing the sandwiches were very helpful and made recommendations. Looking forward to making another stop in the near future. They close by 4, so come before then.

Amazing local sandwich shop celebrating 51 years!

A true Spring Branch hidden gem! Open for 51 years, their sandwich expertise shows. Just a simple small sandwich shop, but the service felt like true small-town southern hospitality. Ordered an egg sandwich and sliced ham and cheese sandwich- the total for both was under $8 and they were the best sandwiches I have ever had! We will definitely be back and you should stop by and grab a sandwich if in the area.

A buddy of mine dropped off a Philly cheesesteak and it was exquisite to say the least. The size was perfect. All the savory flavors, from the warm cheese to the fluffy golden bread, perfectly complimented each other. Almost made me forget how much I hate Philadelphia right now. GO STROS!

Order or grab and go here.

I'm really glad to support my local businesses. Definitely another Spring Branch gem. You can easily drive right by this location and not even blink. As already mentioned before, it's a definite "grab and go sandwich shop." I agree. I usually gravitate toward the 9" Italian sub but just started trying & liking the Philly Cheesesteak which is always hot and cheesy. This location has adapted nicely to Covid 19 procedures and still deliver the same affordable sandwiches that for some odd reason remind me of 'grade school sandwiches' which I thought were ok and somehow liked regardless their simpleness.

RUN to get the Roast Beef sandwich. Seriously, the BEST!! I also got the Famous Tuna but it has nothing on their Roast Beef on French. I also got the pickled jalapeño and it was not spicy at all. The pimento cheese helps with the spicy taste. Mom and pop with a second location.

Grab and go cheap lunch ..... no tables .... Sandwiches.... Chips .... Drinks .... Cookies .....

Really good sandwiches for really good prices. I read someone else's review & agree completely. You don't come here for some spectacular sandwich or fancy meal - you come here for a good ole, homemade sandwich. They're very well priced as well. You can get two combos for roughly $8-$10. The snobby girl at the front however .... If you can get past her rude demeanor and lack of personality; its a great place to grab a quick bite. Don't mind making conversation with her, it'll only give her a chance to ignore you more. My family and I have been coming here for years. Definitely a favorite.

The Philly cheesesteak was delicious with great flavor, though I would have liked a little more meat. The onion rings came out hot and crispy, and the crinkle-cut fries were also very good. It is not easily visible from the street but there is a sign on Gessner that will help you find it. Inside it's a counter service restaurant. I wanted a cheesesteak but had a little difficulty finding it on the menu because it's located under the heading From The Grill and there it's called a Philly Steak. For a place that has cheesesteaks in its name I thought that it should have a section with that name somewhere on the menu. So I ordered a Philly Steak for $9.99 and added an order of fries for another $3.49 along with a canned soft drink. The food took less than 10 minutes. The sandwich came with the requisite meat, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and provolone cheese all on a soft bread bun, it was very good tasting but I wanted more content inside the bun. The Philly Cheesesteaks that I have had in the Philly area had more meat, cheese and everything else. I would have gladly paid $2-3 more for that. Like I said, very good tasting but give me more filling! The fries were large crinkle cut ones and were served hot but they were also a little soggy in the middle. Perhaps undercooked? Finally they charge extra for a credit card without any signage I saw other than when the clerk ran up the bill. I wanted to give a 4 score but have to go with a 3 instead.

I wanted a pork chop or steak and saw this place and their pork chop. It looked great online. When I get there I ate at the bar. It was a coffee bar. Again- I should have done more research. So I was given a menu then I ordered the pork shop. And then the waiter said is that I and proceeded to give me my total. Another thing I have researched. It's counter service. Then I said I just wanted water. I waited for it and he said we have to help ourselves to drinks (later). So ok. Fine. Then later he told me they were out of pork chops. So I got the short ribs with the grits. The ribs were tender. They were tasty. The grits were good. The veg was good as well. I'd give the food a 4 but I would think, since they make their own pastries, they would make a bread to serve with dinner! But no bread so that drops it down a point or 2. I had ordered (pre-paid) for the bread pudding. It was good, legit bread pudding. The place itself is a coffee bar so it looks and acts like a coffee bar. Now to the coffee bar. Someone there ordered and espresso drink. They don't have a knock box and so he proceeded to knock out the very old puck into a trash can under the sink then rinsed it. Then the shot glass looked like it had been there unrinsed from the morning. Then as he proceeded to make the espresso- he had to fill the espresso machine (with tap water). Last- it was Aerosmith on repeat. I like them as much as the next guy, but how about some variety. I guess if I lived in the area I might go back to try their breakfast. Anyway- I ubered there and I wish now I would have just eaten at the hotel bar.

If you don't have very many locations aren't exactly established yet in the city you're trying to plant in, and a patron comes in and says it's their first time, some recommendations and signature dish items would be nice to hear. There were a lot of staff on this Sunday afternoon, but didn't really see there was much effort into the overall experience. The food station was dirty and messy, there were gnats flying around our food where we were sitting, and when we got our zeppelins, it was drenched or drowning in the dressing and th overall sandwich was overly salty because of it. I ordered the Mediterranean Cobb and held off on the blue cheese and subbed feta. The grilled chicken literally was so chewy and tasted like rubber I had to spit it out and then pick the rest of the chicken out, this place is NOT cheap. Quite pricey for a large sub stuffed with a salad. If you're paying $15 for a sandwich, you expect to get quality ingredients. The chicken was not edible. Staff just stood around and would chit chat, not really attentive or maintaining the restaurant very well. I'm willing to give it another shot maybe and try their salad...but I'd heed on the dressing and ask for it on the side.
