I own a car rental business and wash about 10-15 cars a day between 3 Brown Bear locations. This location is my absolute favorite location. All of the employees are super helpful and always have smile on their faces. There are plenty of vacuum machines to choose from. Inside of the store is very clean and is fully stocked at all times. I just came out of the wash wash and need to vacuum the inside. I park at this stall and swiped my card and pushed the button. The machine is running but there is no suction on the vacuum. I went inside the store to get some help, but the clerk couldn't help me because there is no other attention. While the machine is running and charging my card. She advised that I asked one of the car wash attendant Le to help. I went got one of them to come over and he was able to get the machine to stop but could not reverse the charge. It has already charged me $5.00 and no suction to get any vacuum. He went inside the store to ask the clerk to reverse the charge but she couldn't. I'm kind of a stickler about my car. I park on the Renton downtown streets and the trees dump pollen all over my car, constantly. Pair that with a set of kids and grubby fingers who like to draw pictures in the pollen! As a result, I'd rather hit the $3 you-spray stalls to rinse this stuff off before the kids get to it, and before it accumulates into a full-on grime. One day the you-spray stalls were full and I didnt feel like waiting in line, which is usually the case here. It seems to be open all the time tho, so I've pulled in late in the evenings and gotten a stall, then, no problem. But I was overdue for a wash, so I pulled into the mechanical stalls most people are used to. My first reaction is how incredibly expensive it is. I was curious what a $20 car wash looked like so I just went for it. I was kinda hoping for some real treatment, like a rag to clean your dash while you wait, like the car wash places used to do. But no rag. It was actually really fast and I felt disappointed at how quick it was done, like I felt a better job needed to take more time. I get home and check it out and the car is about as clean as it can get, but I also noticed the car *stayed* clean. Like, it still shined after a couple weeks and I didn't feel like I needed to go right back in. I think they're using a higher quality wax than most washes. For $20 I'm not sure I'd be heading back too frequently, but I would recommend for those with nicer cars than me who care more than I do. The you-spray is a nice option to rinse before you hit the actual contact carwash with the scrub brushes too and they're in the same parking lot. So if you're super into your car, this is probably a great place to get it cleaned. read more

Slightly conflicted if it's a 3 or a 4, I guess depending on the day. There aren't really instructions or staff around to answer questions. The first time I went, I just followed the cars and got in line. Simple enough. I paid the guy at the booth...btw, great prices: - Beary Best $14 - Beary Bright $11 - Beary Clean $8 ...and easily drove my car through the tunnel. On the other side, I saw a lot of people with towels drying off their cars. I had to ask another customer where to get them, and they directed me back to the front booth. So I walked back over and the guy handed me a towel (not sure if he was supposed to in the first place.) Then the next time I went, same thing...but this time, no more towels left. I went over to the gas station to get some paper towels to just dry off the main surface areas. All in all, I'd come back again. Just still not sure what the actual process is supposed to be like. read more

Avoid!!!!! I waited in line in Enumclaw only to have their equipment fail and I got no wash. Called company, they acknowledge fail at location and said they would send a wash coupon. I go here when i know the Kent location is too busy since this location rarely gets packed. That being said, they don't have an automatic machine to pay and a cart that holds towels and glass spray as other locations do. I haven't used the drive thru wash so this review is based on the self service side. I live in an apartment and there really isn't anywhere to wash my car so it's very fast and convenient to have a self serve car wash so close. The location is good as well, at the intersection by Sam's club. Sometimes the machine will be broken so your money will keep returning to you but you still get the time. It's like a bonus even though that's totally bad. Haha. It's still cheap though. You can get your car washed for under $10 but just bring your own towels to wipe it down. I often worry that previous customers may have dropped the scrubbing brush down and get all paranoid that there could be rocks stuck in it and I'm gonna scratch my car but it's always been good so far. If you go on a nice day, there will probably be a wait. I really wish there were more stalls to wash your car in. Otherwise, it's a good place to go. November challenge (11/16/2012) read more

Went to the Brown Bear Car Wash on Grady Way because my car was in desperate need of a wash. Got the "Beary Clean" option for $10 (that's their cheapest option) and proceeded to follow the instructions to get inside the car wash. Once in everything went normal and my car came out clean. My one complaint is the car wash bent my license plate. I understand that's one of the risks you take when you go through a car wash but it was bent pretty badly so I had to take it off and put it under some books for a few days. The license plate is now pretty much back to normal and I put it back on. After this experience, I'm going to consider doing the self wash option here instead of the machine. read more

What most don't know about Brown Bear car washes (and it's easy to see why until they enter one) but somewheres between 4 and 6 bears balancing on giant balls scrub your car clean with a proficiency that has to be experienced to believe. I try to nail down how many bears are in there but there is so much water and suds and it's kinda dark so forgive me for any inaccuracies regarding how many bears are in there. I'm pretty sure, once, that a bear used his back to scrub the back of my car, either his arms were tired or the car was moving away from him and the only way he could fulfill his duty was to fall against my car. Or his back itched and he had no tree to scratch it on. I'd rather attribute it to dedication than a whim but you be the judge. I hate that the bears do such a great job but they're being robbed of five stars because the whoever is on dryer duty is an asthmatic bear. It's ok if they put Wheezy on dryer duty, even I can't think that he'd keep up with the car as it goes through the wash. Pro Tip: THEY QUIT DOING THIS :: save your receipts. When you have ten, no matter whether you purchased the cheapest washes, when you hand them over you get a free Beary Best wash. And I think the bears get a bonus and that's only fair as they spend a good portion of the day inside slaving over cleaning cars that frankly, never get the care they deserve. I figure as long as the short sighted amongst us don't demand green cards for these talented bears we shall continue to get fantastic washes at fair prices plus they recycle! read more

My go to car wash for those sunny days. My apologizes to everyone, I'm cursed. EVERYTIME I wash my car, it rains the next day. So...my bad. Speaking of those sunny days, if you decide to stop by, be prepared to sit in line. Sometimes it snakes through the parking lot and out onto the streets. It used to be $5 for the cheap carwash, it is now $6, no big deal. They don't normally give you towels to dry the car, but you can ask and they might give you one. There is only one little area to park and dry your car off, but you can usually get a spot. There are 2 DIY car washes here, as well as 4 stations to vacuum your car. Bring quarters! I suggest getting here early to get a spot, sometimes the wait for a vacuum is really long. Easy location to find and get into. The only real issue is that the lines get long (not their fault though). Will continue to come here as long as I live in the area :) read more

Car wash itself is a good one, even tho it's not a touch free wash. I never once had to ask for a second wash cuz it didn't wash correctly the first time. Once is always a charm! But I do gave to say that they do need to desperately slow down the drying cycle when my car is heading through it...as it goes so fast my car is still covered in water spots when I pull out of the wash, so I have to park quickly in one of their park and hand dry it after its done, But thankfully they give you a damp cloth at the beginning of the wash when you pay so you can do what you feel like you need to do with it. Quickly wipe down the inside of your car, or as I do use it to dry off the outside. But I always bring my own rags as well, (plus other cleaning stuff) because when I get my car washed, it's an event. Trim work shined, exhaust cleaned out, glass done, inside top to bottom etc. What's nice is they have vacuums there as well, trash cans, and also a few buckets to throw your dirty rags in. I think a total of 6 or 7 parking spots to pull over and do all this to your car. If you treat your car like your pet, with love, it will treat you good too. :) read more

I've gone to this Brown Bear several times to get my car washed with either the Bear Essentials or the Beary Good selection. For the most part, they get my car fairly clean, but there are always a few spots that are totally missed and look obviously dirty. One thing that really torks me off is that the car wash is so forceful that it actually BENDS my front license plate in on either side. I always have to get out of the car and re-straighten my license plate. Last time it was too the extreme and now my license plate is permanently bent and I just can't seem to get it looking normal again. Seems like this shouldn't be a problem...?? A couple of positives are that they are green and also they have a day every year where you can get a free car wash as a thank you to customers! How awesome is that? read more

But the guy that was attending the car wash was super friendly and sweet! It won't clean superb with the basic wash but it gets the main areas clear! Thats all I need! It can get busy on sunny days but its well worth the wait because of all the towel amenities and vacuums all around the lot! This location is slightly busier than their Renton counterpart... not really understanding why... THE DRIVE UP IS TERRIBLE. Either, you are blocking those coming into the gas station. Heard so much bad things about this location but I wanted to see it myself & booooy I made the worse decision ever. 3 scratches on my front fender & rear right door. I clean & wax my car atleast once a week & I notice every single scratch (I'm one of those car owners who are very careful & treats their car like their baby) im not sure if I can file a complaint or anything but I'm so bummed :( I did the beary best car wash & paid $12 something & it just resulted in deep scratches :( one of the deep scratch is almost peeling off he paint. Like a $7 mani-pedi for your car... Feeling down about your ride? $7 and 2-minutes will strip the layers of gunk from your vehicle and I am sure will make it drive faster and burn less fuel. (OK, maybe not, but at least you aren't getting soaked, wasting water, and contributing to wash soap and crud running into the storm drains and Puget Sound). I believe the top of the line runs a few bucks over $10. I think it's called the "beary best" package and includes wax and/or some other teflon treatment for the paint and possibly the windows. One of our family's rides is a boxy, bulky minivan that takes a long time to wash by hand and some drive-through car washes miss a lot of spots along the sides and/or rear door. Not Brown Bear! BB gets it completely clean, cleaner that a church volleyball team raising funds to buy a goat for kids in Guatamala. I generally have gone to the location next to the Dodge/Chrysler dealer off of Rainier Avenue South and the intersection of South 7th Street, but I have also run through the one on South Grady Way at Talbot Road. read more

This place is your basic Brown Bear Car Wash. It is both self serve for those who like to wash their car themselves, & it also has the auto machines that you can drive through & get your car washed by a machine if you don't like to do it yourself. I've never been here, & had any of the equipment not be in working order. There's usually not a wait to use any of the equipment, car wash stalls, auto machines, etc. The machines here take either quarters, or dollar coins. Use the machine that dispenses the dollar coins. It's less of a hassle when washing, or vacuuming, your car. There's also a Chevron on site, so if you get hungry, need a snack or need gas, etc then that's available as well. Not a bad place to take your ride to get washed at all! I recommend. read more

Brown Bear is hands down the best car wash for many reasons. #1, they are green. Protecting or water in the Puget Sound area is a good thing to anyone that lives, thrives or survives our climate. #2, they have many choices including washing your car in one of their bays. #3, it's the cleanest I have ever seen a car come out of a car wash. This location is currently charging $5, tax included and it's hands down better than any other gas station car wash in the Seattle area, with the exception of other Brown Bears of course. When I bought my first 'brand new' car back in 2003, I only hand washed it because I was raised that car washes were too expensive and damaging to your car paint. As I've gotten older, it's become way more efficient (and cost effective) to run your car through a car wash. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Brown Bear's middle grade is $8 with tax and seems to do the job well. Yes, it won't be clean between your rims and/or your mirror or spoiler but for a quick wash to get your car squeaky clean for a sunny day, Brown Bear is the place to go. They are good at getting the cars cleared through and if you keep your receipt, you get your 10th wash for free. Can't beat that! read more
