They try to scare you especially if you are a female so you pay them money to fix issues that are not broken. He began to share conjecture about what the issue could be and essentially said the problems were so bad that they could not be solved. Because of this, the buyer backed out without any willingness to get a second opinion or negotiate. We since had two other reputable and longstanding septic companies in Fairfield County come out to look at the system. The issue turned out to be a very small leak near the drainage pipe of the septic system - a minor $1,200 fix. After having to pay $2K for these other companies to evaluate the problem, we then had to take an offer tens of thousands of dollars less than our original - which we were fortunate enough to have on hand. I'm sure this service is fine for an annual tank pump out, but I would beware when it comes to inspections.
