Did you know there was a Black Owned Mall Salon in Mt Holly? A few days ago my answer would have been no, but now I know the true answer. This business was booming and busy when I arrived. I made an appointment the day before with Chloe. She did my pedicure and did a great job. The owner Renee says she's only doing appointments at this time because she wants her clients to and staff not to feel rush. That was nice to hear. The place is small but more importantly, it's clean and put together nice. I like that the owner has chosen to use gel polish at the very least. Gel polish typically costs extra but here it's included. The music selection was great. People were humming or singing along. The staff is constantly cleaning which was nice to see. I really can't rave enough about this nail salon. The amount of care and attention Christine gave my pedicure was out of this world. Normally when I go into a nail shop I am purposely silent the entire time engulfed in my music or working, however Christine made me feel comfortable and eased my anxiety. This nail shop felt like home and I really enjoyed hearing about the community engagement, the history of the business, and upcoming specials. Most importantly my feet haven't felt like this in ages. Sheesh, okay firstly this salon is pretty much no frills- back in the day type of ambiance. No glamour, lights & spa feel- which isn't necessarily a negative in my book but wanted to point out. I made an appointment over the phone I arrived and was immediately set up for my pedicure. **Their are no prices listed or posted for view- that's always a red flag to me ** The pedi experience was basic and the woman who painted my toes did not do a thorough job. My feet were still a bit rough after I left. The owner did my pedi (but not the paint) I would rather had a technician do my pedicure because I highly suspect the owner is not a nail tech at all. I did enjoy the sugar scrub at the end however. Pedicure $38 Now another woman did my nails.. I got a Fill in with one nail-fix-tip added. She was heavy handed and cut my pinky while filing which hurt like hell I got a new age type French design-see picture. Somehow that added up to $75 I noticed a charge for $35 (fill-in) $25 (?) and $15 (?) I think she charged $15 for the "gel polish" but the Gag is ..they only offer gel polish ... and I guess this red French was the extra $25. If I would have known I would have gotten a waaay better design (I did ask her about the design prices but not the specific one I received so that was my fault for assuming a French design would be any less than her more intricate freestyle work.. which she said was $25) Many others have left great reviews and seem to love this place.. I say check it out, there were many other technicians who seemed to have great personalities and be doing nice work... I think I just got the short straw that day. read more

I came here 6 months ago, had a negative experience with my nails breaking off way too soon, posted a Google review, and the manager said to come back and give them an opportunity to make it right. She honored that and covered my gel hand nail service and I paid for my pedicure Thursday evening ... in less than 24 hours - I have athlete's foot which I sincerely believe I got from their shop and a terrible acrylic with gel overlay (they don't do sns with tips). I had reached out to the manager about my foot and she was very defensive, snarky, & unprofessional. Even if I possibly didn't get it at their shop, she could've respectfully explained their sanitation habits to reassure me or even apologized that I had it now. I didn't see liners in their tubs. Yet, Her attitude was so distasteful. When my nails started peeling within 24 hrs I didn't see a need to reach out to her again. My photos show what happened progressively within 2 days of getting my nails done. I asked a professional what happened to make my nails do this - she said the UV lamp is either dying out (they did keep having to change them out), the acrylic was too thick, or nails not fully cured (in the lamp long enough)....I tried twice, disappointed twice. The only reason I give this salon a 4/5 is because it may be difficult to book an appointment as they seem to always be overbooked. Also both times I've come in for a a fill, my nails broke or came off within the week. But they offered to fix the broken nails for free. It's just an inconvenience. Friday I called to see when I can come in and get a pedicure cause it was long overdue and to my surprise they were able to squeeze me in that same day.
