I really enjoyed visiting Olive Nail Boutique. The technicians are kind and the salon is clean and welcoming. I did have a disappointing experience, recently. I booked an appointment for nails and feet with a design. My technician, Kat, took a photo of the design I wanted and started the service. I was very excited about the job she was doing, however, near the end, I noticed one nail on each hand was missing a detail, and when I politely pointed it out, she said she couldn't finish it because she was running behind, adding that other clients had already been waiting. I left feeling the service was considered good enough even though it wasn't complete. A more customer-focused solution could have been offering a quick touch up later that day or the next morning. Two days later, the polish began to chip, and I didn't feel comfortable returning. I really enjoyed my experience with other technicians there previously and I'm sad that I won't be returning due to this experience which left me upset and disappointed. read more

Needed to get my nails done for a girls trip to NYC and heard good things about Olive Nails Boutique. From the beginning to the end, Hanh made me feel so at ease; this was a whole experience. I was offered a nice beverage, and then I showed her a simple, kinda basic photo from Pinterest of what I liked. Hanh wanted a challenge though, she said " no tell me what you really want ". LOL I love her sass. She scrolled through my Pinterest saves and found a more complex design and said she could do it-- and let me tell you SHE TOPPED IT. Pooh had to remove my press-ons which were glued down first. We talked about heartfelt issues like we were old friends catching up. I really love how QUIET the salon is. My hands were holiday ready and more importantly, TV ready because I was making art on WBTV the next morning!!! I was in town from Greensboro and my friend recommend this nail place. I scheduled an appt 2 weeks in advance to ensure I could get it as we'll as notify them I had dip on from previous place. I showed up at my appt time and they didn't start working on my hands for 25 minutes. I sat for another 30 minutes removing my other sns and then another 30 minutes before I walked out. I had a prior appt for a dress fitting I couldn't miss. I let them know I would return after. when I returned it took another 1.5 hrs to get my nails done and I am not satisfied at all! The tip they put on my pinky isn't even straight (see picture for reference)The gel top coat was just thrown on my nails. I will say the positive is the actual dip is really good but then was ruined when gel was placed on. I wouldn't recommend going this place. read more

I always try to make an appointment, but they have also accommodated me walking in for just a gel removal with little wait. With a few visits under my belt, I'm a bonafide fan. I've even referred this place to a couple co-workers because of quality, location, and service! This shop doesn't have a designated parking lot as it's part of a small strip with a few other businesses sharing the same row of parking spaces. You will most definitely need to rely on street parking. When you enter, you'll be greeted and asked whether or not you have an appointment. More times than not, I've gone without an appointment and never had an issue. They have a nice selection of nail polish - gel and regular. When seated, they offer you a choice of beverage and they're served in yeti cups. I really appreciate their efforts in being green by doing this! I've gone for pedicures and gel manicures and both services have been great. I will say, I've gotten the best pedicure at tiptope. I went in on a Saturday afternoon to get my nails done and 4 days later two of them came off. They apparently have a no refund policy and it's 'posted' all over their facility. I personally didn't see any and I don't think people are looking all around for signage. There was also no communication from employees. I called for a partial refund but they refused, said I can come in and fix them but I didn't want to because I had a feeling the others would break off. The owner argued with me and compared their terrible nail work with a car analogy and that they can't guarantee anything which I understand. But my nails shouldn't be falling off of my non dominant hand in 3-4 days. I don't know about you guys but paying $60-$80 for your nails to fall off in 3-4 days is not worth the visit to this place. I've had nails of for over a month and picking up heavy things and being close to damaging my nails and sometimes they never even come off. If you can't put on someone's false nails securely and be confident that without extraneous pressure on the nails that it won't come off then you shouldn't be running a nail salon. I came from chicago and have NEVER had this issue and I went to a place that was rated 2 stars and got the best service. Please beware before coming here. Reply to business : I appreciated the effort to serve me while I was a customer there; that's why I tipped and thanked you for your service. I have every right to ask for a refund when my nails fall off after 4 days. I don't have to give your salon a second chance; that is my right as a consumer. If you REALLY wanted to save a customer and have me come back again to give you a second chance. You wouldn't have argued with me on the phone for 10 minutes, comparing my nails to an auto shop customer. Your staff was really nice and helpful and so were you, but it doesn't mean I need to refrain from asking for my money back. In this case you should have stuck by your product and services by offering the refund and asking me to come in to get it fixed. That's how a business is supposed to treat their customers, not try to turn blame on them because they made a decision to not come in and replace broken nails. If my nails fell off this easily, why would you think I would want to come in? I have worked in hospitality, ran hotels and restaurants; and I know how to treat a customer and unfortunately your establishment failed to do so. I would work on better communication with your customers to ensure they understand the policies because you're assuming they check your website and that they look all around your salon for that information specifically. Which if you really knew how customers think, you'd know that people simply come in to do their nails. Not read your policies. Have a good one. read more

08/20/19 Update: I can't get over this place!! I always encourage my friends and family to come here. This is hands down the best nail salon I've been to in Charlotte. Unfortunately Michael wasn't in today to do acrylics for me; however, Johnny came to save the day. Johnny was super sweet and took his time with my SNS dip nails. I have really been struggling about wether or not to write a review about this particular nail salon. I went for the first time a month ago. Prepping my nails, biggest complaint, my nails were so thin that it hurt for them to be touched while prepping for SNS. And this has now completely F*d up my nails. The sns has been off for over two weeks and my nails are literally breaking past the nail beds onto skin that's never been touched before, which is ridiculous. I couldn't even open a stupid fire stick remote back without ripping nails off to the nail bed or them just being flimsy and unable to do anything. The nails and dip themselves? Not the shape I asked for which was a pointy short/mini stiletto, turned into a bulbous almond shape. Two different individuals worked on my hands, and the dip itself was uneven and thick as my thighs! The manicure was nice, up until my fingers were burning up like hot rods were shucked under my fingernails. Unfortunately I will not be back and I won't be able to get my nails done for an additional two more weeks at least. Which will make it a month for them to heal. Uncool. read more

I should have paid more attention to all of the negative reviews. I had an SNS manicure that needed to be removed and I wanted a manicure without polish. Easy-peasy....or so I thought. I arrived around 6:38 or so to check in. I initially wanted to replace the SNS with gel but she said they only do acrylic so I agreed. Then she tells me that acrylics are only by appointment because there's only one person that does them. Are you kidding me??? That is such a standard, basic service. I should have walked out right then. I then say just a removal with a no polish mani. We walk back and I get to soaking. Mid-way through my soak off, the ladies switch places. Ok, fine. Next thing I know the woman is telling me that her manager said it's too ate, they're about to close, and I can't get a manicure....just the removal. I'm super annoyed at this point but fine, whatever. Some other girls comes over and reiterates the same thing. I'm like, whatever, it's fine. I already know at that moment that I'll never come back. The worst part is that I was totally agreeable but these people had nothing but attitude, offered zero apologies or anything. They clearly don't care about attracting new business. As if that wasn't bad enough, the woman did an AWFUL job on my removal. She left some sort of glue or melted SNS product all over my hands plus she didn't even completely remove the SNS which I pointed out to her TWICE. That these people would have such bad attitudes and yet not even be able to properly manage the most basic of services is mind-boggling. This is a terrible nail salon with really bad customer service. There are plenty of other nail salons in Plaza Midwood and Charlotte in general, don't waste your money here. read more

I always get the gel manicure which is $35, they have a wide selection of colors to choose from and take their time ensuring your nails look great. The regular pedicure is $30, but you can upgrade for $5 and do the pedicure in a box which includes fun extras. The establishment is always clean and comfortable. Even the waiting area is inviting. They offer crackers, water, soda and wine (21+) to all customers. They have HGTV and Food Network on at all times and a great playlist. Overall it's a great experience. I REALLY Loved my gel manicure when I got it. I loved it so much that it really made me so sad when less than a week after I got it they peeled off. Literally in one whole sheet. I've had 4 finger nails peel clean off. I've never had a gel manicure last less than 2 weeks much less 1 week! Usually my nails have a little wear on them after a gel mani starts coming off but it's like they were never even painted. I absolutely love this nail salon! As someone who has tried most of the salons in Plaza Midwood and Dilworth, I can confidently say that Tiptoe is top notch! I have had many different nail techs do my nails and I can only think of one time I was remotely unsatisfied. Even still, they apologized and asked if I wanted it fixed. Michael, the owner, and his wife are incredibly kind and you can tell people enjoy working there. The nail techs are always friendly. Michelle and S do a FANTASTIC job every time I see them. These ladies listen to your concerns, check in as they're doing your nails to make sure you're satisfied, and they spend their time making sure you feel pampered. Would you believe Michelle even said she likes that I'm picky because she learns more? There are other great techs whose names escape me. The space is large, open and airy, giving a great ambience. It's never too loud or too crowded, something I really appreciate as I like to RELAX! They take walk ins and appointments. Although the parking is minimal, I have never had trouble. There is pop music playing most of the time and the two large TV's are typically playing HGTV and Food Network. They have snacks as well as red and white wine free of charge. I love the color selection and the fact that the gel color is right behind the regular color, neatly organized. The massage chairs are new and comfortable, complete with a purse hook. My only wish is that the bowls had plastic wrap for sanitation purposes that could be changed out between clients. The pedicure is heaven. Sugar scrub, hot towels, dead skin removal and the best massages. My last pedicure came with the longest massage because my tech knew that's why I keeo coming back. Once I was reading a book while my gel nails soaked off, and my tech reached up and turned the pages for me because I couldn't! Not that I would've ever asked, but you can't deny that kind of customer service! These ladies are so intuitive and know what it takes to make an experience great. Plus, they don't talk about you right in front of your face - a pet peeve of mine. They actually engage with you if you want to talk. Extra bonus: they have never once made me feel like a pain for changing my mind about what color I wanted after seeing it on my nail - a problem at a lot of salons. The one time my gel polish chipped a few days after my manicure, I went back and Michael prioritized my fix, doing it himself so I was in and out quickly. My last gel manicure lasted from Michelle lasted AN ENTIRE MONTH! I am always getting compliments on my nails when I get them done here. Service really depends on the technician you get. My fingers were bleeding during the manicure, and hurt for the duration since my manicurist kept buffing my cuticles after cutting it. My 400th review! And a 5 star one at that - toot toot! I am so glad I use yelp for this exact reason. I've been in the Charlotte area for almost two years now and I've found another great salon. Great, new, clean salon with all top quality OPI and CND products. This seems like it's not a big deal but do some research and trust me it matters. Plenty of salons are using cheap products that look like they're high end since everything is poured into generic bottles. I've been getting acrylics for 10 years now; there's good, bad and really ugly when someone hurts you because they're saving money. The owner, Michael has no secrets and everything he uses he's got for sale for customers - top coats, scrubs, instant dry oils, lotions. There are tons of regular polish colors to choose from in addition to gel polishes. My tech did an awesome job and I was given a discount I didn't even know was coming and my broken nail was fixed for free! Can't beat the customer service. The two employees I talked to were super nice and happy to be there which is a plus. There's parking on both sides of the salon - street and spots. I will be back and next time I'm getting a pedicure. Wish I needed one today because I would've gone for it. Had an amazing experience when I went here with a local friend. She hadn't been before, but I suspect she'll be going back! This salon looks like a hole in the wall, but once you pass through the cashier and waiting area, it opens up into a huge space with tons of high-quality pedicure stations and a long bar for manicures. My friend and I did pedicures, and I upgraded mine to shellac. It was a wonderful, relaxing experience, and the polish was expertly-done, which I can't say of most of the pedicures I've had.
