I had this place bookmarked forever after seeing them on an episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" Made it a mission to go there today since it was raining thinking it would not be as crowded. First of all, let me make abundantly clear to you that this is a pretty popular breakfast place, so if you think you can show anytime on a Saturday (Rain/Sleet Or Snow) without a wait you will be sorely disappointed. From what i was told by the hostess if you show up early (I'd suggest 8 AM) if you want to beat the heavy crowd. Also, be prepared to have your car valet. Parking spaces are a rarity and it's easier to just turn your keys over the the valets. There's no charge to valet your car. Believe it or not only waited about 15 minutes for a table @ 12pm on a Saturday. Quick break down below. 1. Chicken Sausage Cheddar Omlette With Egg Whites (My choice) was very good huge portion whihc is always a plus. 2. Blueberry Pancakes and Apple pancakes were AMAZING !!!! and the Syrup being warm as great. I love that !! 3. Scrambled Eggs with cheese was okay not bad 4. Advice for management: Please keep an eye on your new servers. They seem to be getting distracted while talking to each other instead of focusing on fulfilling their customers' requests. I've never had a bad experience at Brownstone until yesterday. I understand the staff is always busy but it does NOT take 15 minutes to place our order and 15 minutes for refills on our sodas. At first, the wait to place our order didn't bother us since we understand how busy it is all the time. We started getting annoyed when the rest of our time was wasted on waiting, waiting, and waiting for everything. No utensils? No problem. Our server gave us our forks, 1 napkin each, and said she'll be back with the knives. Never received the knives. Toast with the omelette? Forget about it. Our server never brought them out. Refills on the sodas? Sure, but not before she stops to chat with her clique and then completely forgets about our refills. We had to ask other servers for refills and then they ended up tracking our server down to remind her. Brownstone is always busy and chaotic. I get it. But our server wasn't even busy during the times we asked her for things. Well, I guess she was busy with prioritizing her gossiping time over taking care of her customers. So to be fair, I should tell you that my boyfriend and I cam here for dinner and did not get pancakes or breakfast/ brunch items since we had decided on the Fried Oreo milkshake and didn't want to go over broad and couldn't agree on any of the breakfast times. I think he got a burger (can't remember) but I got the appetizer sampler and just did not enjoy it. It like everything was over fried but to be fair, that not their speciality. Brownstone definitely needs some more staff. Our waitress was super nice and tried her best to be attentive but it was just overly busy during a Monday morning. My party of four had to wait a bit for a table, and while waiting, I witnessed a staff member kind of raise her voice at another employee. It was a little jarring but I don't think anyone else around noticed. It took us about 15 minutes for our drink orders to be taken, and then another 15 minutes to get those drinks. Our food was delivered to our table and our waitress disappeared before we noticed we had no forks or knives. We sat for a while waiting to flag someone down so we could get utensils and napkins. Minus a star for how much of a disarray this place seemed to be in. The food was amazing though, and so was the coffee! I found this place on IG and the pictures looked too good not to try. My boyfriend and I went today for breakfast around 12. The line of cars to get into the parking lot was a decent distance down the block. My boyfriend went inside to check the wait time; they said 15-20 minutes. By the time I pulled into the parking lot (complimentary valet ) they had called us and our table was ready- perfect timing! It was packed inside, very loud and our table happened to be right under the A.C. so also very cold! I ordered Muscle Man Pancake wrap - egg whites, Turkey Sausage and cheese wrapped in a huge pancake. It was pretty good; different - but basically just mixing pancakes and eggs together bc you certainly don't eat it in a 'wrap' fashion with your hands. We also ordered Oatmeal with banana & raisin - which our waitress didn't bring out until our food was ready so when we got it, it was cold! She brought us another but at that point we were full - I took it home. She brought out our food and left while we sat there waiting for her to come back just to ask for the basics - silverware!! Napkins, syrup, sugar. We also asked for more water and watched her bring the neighboring table coffee and take the order of new customers before I had to ask for water again. We get it, things happen, but the problem is that the in-house ATM has a $100 limit. So what happens when the bill is over $300? This place isn't cheap. I've been here twice and the food is not very consistent. The first time it was on a weekend holiday so the wait for a party of 5 of us was about an hour. That time I had Nutella pancakes and they were good. The second time we came was around noon on a Saturday. The wait was around 20 minutes so I grabbed coffee at the counter. I went to Brownstone Pancake Factory for Brunch with a bunch of my girlfriends. It's nice that they have a waitlist on yelp that can be joined to cut down on wait time - I don't think many people know about it as our party was one of the few who had joined through yelp. That said, it took them a while probably 20-25 minutes after our turn on the waitlist to find us a table for a party of 5. We were considered a larger party and many parties of four after us were seated before us. ‍ That said, the food, shakes, and service after being seated were fantastic. Our party was vegetarian and they have plenty of options to satisfy all. I highly recommend the vegetable quesadillas, gluten free pancakes (so fluffy!), and of course one of their signature shakes! They're a bit pricy but def worth getting once in a while. You can't go wrong with the cookies and cream shake! Delicious! This was my second visit her to celebrate my sister in laws bday with a breakfast. She enjoyed it very much. Everything was amazing as usual. We had chicken and waffles which was amazing they actually give you 4 pieces for fried chicken ( not strips ) like most places do. We got the Nutella waffle and all I can say is OMG it is delicious. We also got blueberry croissant French toast at tad tart from blueberries but it was yummy . Now the meat combo omelette speaks for its self delicious . BPF is located on River Road, just almost at the center of town, with other trending businesses & homes in walking distance. The appearance from outside is a large shop with awnings showing the shop's logo (B & then the shop's full name), in green/black, and a large parking lot (with valet parking) leading to the front entrance. Inside, the cashier's counter is the first thing you'll spot (which you have to stop by there anyways to pay after your meal), which also has a few pastries for sale as well as their trademark maple syrup, a seating section to the left, counter/bar side seating to the right of the cashiers desk (close to the kitchen), and a mix of booths & tables for the right side of the restaurant. Across the restaurant, you'll spot unique decor, such as an impressive display of an upside down park path on the ceiling (complete with a bike hanging from the ceiling, and a park bench) at the left side, and on the right side, you'll spot large cutouts of praise & good word put in here over the years in the form of newspaper headlines. An ATM is close to the entrance, in case if you needed cash on hand (you're free to pay here with card) or maybe give gratuity for the waitstaff/valet drivers. If you're planning on dining with a large group, you're only allowed to do one and ONLY one check per table (no split checks), so you have to conduct your math afterwards with your guests (or use the ATM to compensate them). Weekend mornings (breakfast/brunch) are notorious for being super crowded (you'll be lucky to snag a table with a 15 minute wait, whether alone or a small group), so have ample room to wait. The menu is pretty extensive, and that's putting it lightly, a bit north of 150 food items! If you want to sample some appetizers, they also have two different appetizer samplers, one being a classic (wings/chicken fingers/loaded potato skins/mozzarella sticks/onion rings) and another one southwest inspired. This including almost 30 varieties of pancakes (and 6 more pancake wraps, which wraps around meat/eggs), nearly 10 French Toast options & another 10 waffle options, things can range from classic eggs & bacon/sausage/meat, açaí bowls, to omelets & breakfast sandwiches, burgers/sandwiches, salads, and pasta, and a fully stocked dessert menu, from cakes & pie, to cheesecake & ice cream sundaes (this includes French Toast/waffle sundaes). Another special shoutout goes for their milkshakes, which you can go for a classic spin (10 flavors) or their "Ultimate Insane" milkshakes which takes it up a notch with candies/chocolates, plenty of chocolate/caramel sauce, and a slice of cake/cheesecake/brownie/cupcake (some)/mini waffles. On their Instagram page, they'll also feature a weekly "Ultimate Insane" milkshake to coincide with a holiday or a mood. I'll try to base my opinion on my previous visit (Sunday brunch), aside from one dinner session, nearly all of my visits were either for breakfast/brunch or an early lunch, and I do have a habit to share them on Instagram! Signed in with the hostess, and sure, I could've opted for the quick seat at the counter, but I like daylight and I wasn't in a rush, so why not? Seated, greeted, ordered something I didn't have yet (pizza pie fries), and one of my go-to pancake options (salted caramel pretzel pancakes), and one of their weekly Ultimate Insane milkshakes (New Year's Celebration Cupcake). Time passed, and I was greeted with the pizza pie fries: cheesy, and topped with their homemade tomato sauce, on seasoned thick-cut fries. I've enjoyed it initially but it did get soggy in the end (+ I had to make room for more!), not too bad but one of those apps you can share with others. Next up was a salted caramel pretzel pancake: combines my fav snack (pretzels), with an overall sweet & stelar presentation. The salted caramel ice cream did have a bit of "ice chips" leftover, which was the only notable flaw, but aside from that, impressed, even since it uses their proprietary buttermilk as a base. Last was the New Year's Celebration Cupcake Ultimate Insane milkshake at the end, and by now you guessed I was probably full haha! It looked aesthetically and a diet wrecker in looks: a rich chocolate cupcake as decor, topped with lollipops, vanilla rim with chocolate candies, you guessed it. Had more than half until I called it quits, and signaled my waitress to wrap things up. Paid her gratuity, and then went to the cashiers desk to pay, and aside from a small mixup (I was given the wrong receipt), things were smooth sailing, and I left, pondering what's next from the 30 pancakes (sans one or two that has meat) I can try out next! Very disappointed with this place. First off, valet parking? Seriously? You have the word "pancake" in your name... Service was pretty bad. Our table and several cups were dirty and 2 menus were sticky. I read somewhere that a menu is one of the dirtiest things in a restaurant and this immediately popped into my head while I was here. I also had a direct view of the kitchen from my seat and could see that the person who added toppings to pancakes/wafffles/etc did so with their bare hands. Pretty gross. Speaking of the menu, they also had a list of rules in it. Again, if you have "rules" in your menu, then probably the valet parking is an overreach. The rules included things like requiring that customers wear clothes (huge problem in Edgewater), no outside food, etc. The best part though weren't the rules, but the life lessons that accompanied them. For example, they require you to order something because you should "live a little." And, (in all caps) no splitting checks because instead you should "take turns paying for one another." Luckily I had my journal with me so I managed to scribble down these little nuggets of wisdom. The food was OK. The pancakes were pretty good, but I ordered a side of bacon that was completely overcooked and dry. Coffee was not good either. Overall, never coming back. And after an hour and 30mins. I was frozen head to to toe. We didn't go back to the car because we didn't want to risk losing our placement. They were calling numbers out of order. Now, I do not understand how it is possible in 2021 not to have a better seating system. So many restaurants will take your number and text you when your table is available, well not this place. And they don't even have heating lamps outside at least to make it a but warmer. We were not the only ones complaining. Please upgrade!!!!!!!!! We were called 2hours and 33mins later.
