Today I had my eyebrows shaped for the first time. They set my appointment for a little longer time slot so I would have time to sit with the stylist and determine the exact brow shape I was looking for. Upon checking in, I was immediately offered something to drink. I was parched and totally thankful for this act of hospitality. Parking in the highlands is always an issue but I was lucky to find a two hour parking spot right in front of the building. I came here about a year ago and loved it, but not anymore. I made an appointment 8 days in advance with Esther. When I arrived for my appointment the ladies told me that I would have to wait a few minutes to be seen which was fine. 30 minutes later I still had not been helped. I went up to the desk and they told me that I was someone they had to squeeze in, but that was not the case. There was only one other customer in the place when I arrived and in the 30 minutes that I waited, 2 other people were helped before me. I went to Brows on Upper 15th for the first time today. By the grace of God, I happen to get an appointment with Bridgette. She is amazing for a lot of reasons, here are a few. SO KIND. I immediately felt super comfortable. She is lovely and friendly to everyone in her proximity. Next, we talked awhile before she started. She asked me a lot of relevant questions, what I put on my skin, what my preferences are, and how I'd like my eyebrows to turn out and then explained why she did what she did. She used wax, thread, and tweezers. What a boss. I've never had someone spend so much time on my eyebrows. So meticulous. She's now a permanent person in my pampering routine. I've been coming to Brows for over a year now and I can't sing their praises enough. I inherited my father's messy brows and was always picked on for them growing up. Once I started plucking my brows, I went crazy... I was completely obsessed and wouldn't let anyone else touch them - they were (and are still) such a sensitive subject for me. After years of sporting pencil thin brows, I decided to grow my brows to their natural glory and leave their care in the hands of professionals. I went here once and got my eyebrows waxed because I popped in hoping for an eyebrow thread but the wait was very long. Well today I was able to make a last min appointment for a threading with Stacy. Extremely happy with the results and already made an appointment to come back in 8 weeks, something I never do. Stacy explained exactly what she was going to do based on how my brows looked. Quick and painless, I can honestly say this was the most painless threading I ever received. Loved the results, and then she showed me exactly how to pencil them in. She didn't try to upsell me at all, but I ended up buying the pencil/brush because I loved the outcome! As a formerly once-or-twice-a-year-or-whenever-I-feel-like-it eyebrow wax person, I now set up appointments at Brows every one to two months as "getting my brows did" has become my favorite beauty service. I guess that's saying something? I used to add brow waxing on as a service when I got something like a pedicure (also rare for me), but didn't understand the true artistry of it all until I went to Brows. While they offer other services, they primarily do brows here. So you really can't go wrong with anyone. I've gone to Caitlin and Amber and both have been awesome. They've made suggestions based on my face shape, taken photos for my file for future reference and Amber even sold me on brow gel (think light colored mascara for brows) that enhances/defines/evens out my lighter eyebrow color without making them look fakey. It's now my favorite cosmetic. Even a makeup dunce like me can use it! They also don't limit themselves to just waxing. Every person can also thread and they'll often due a mix of threading and waxing in the same service depending if one or the other makes you break out in certain spots. They also trim, shape, and apply powder on any red areas if you're going back to work. They're very thorough! The location is also very convenient for me and appointments are easy to make online. Easy to get in and out over a lunch hour. I've finally found an eyebrow place I'll confidently return to again and again! read more

She is one of a few estheticians in Denver (maybe even CO) that does eyebrow threading. For those of you that don't know what eyebrow threading is, it's AMAZING and has been used for a long long time to make perfect lines when sculpting eyebrows. It is a method that can even be used with Acutane users. I've been told I can't have much arch in my eyebrow, but Michelle changed that. She asked me what I wished my eyebrows could be and made it happen. I have been obsessed with getting a better brow look, and now my search has ended. Once again, thanks Yelp for helping me find a place to get something done. I made my appointment online, which was very convenient. The day before my appointment, someone called to confirm. I specifically chose Brows as opposed to other waxing establishments because they were the only salon I knew of that offered threading, which is my preferred method of hair removal (I am on retin-a). I arrived a bit early for my appointment, and waited in line to tell them I was there. They seemed quite busy,with several people waiting and several people in line. I was a little confused as to what to do, and no one greeted me until I finally made it up to the desk, and even then they just said "hi" and didn't prompt me for any more information. Finally, they asked who I was there to see (Michelle the owner) and then offered me some water and was told to wait. I went to the waiting area, and found a lack of seating so I had to perch on a director's chair by the makeup (and felt like I was in the way in case someone had to get their makeup done). I waited for what seemed like a long time considering that some people who came in after me waited for only a few minutes before being called for their appointment. I was disappointed that no one apologized for the wait, and in general things felt pretty disorganized in the salon. It was finally my turn, and Michelle started off by asking what I would like to change about my brows (ie if I could wave a magic wand, how would I like my brows to be?). I told her about my brow problems (my brows tend to stick straight out instead of lying nicely to the side) and she seemed to know immediately what we should do (razor trim instead of scissor trim). She set to work and eventually she handed me a mirror and showed me what she was doing and how I could continue to do it at home. Then she began threading and refining my brows. This is the part where I get really critical about those who do my brows. Michelle spent a lot of time making sure that both brows were even, and plucked/threaded above and below my arch, as well as around my eyes where I have some fuzz. Usually I'm unhappy with my brows because my waxers/threaders don't pluck at the strays and tend to send me on my way with what I feel like are half-finished brows. But Michelle really got all of the hairs she could get and my brows looked really good when she was finished. I could tell a difference with the razoring vs. the scissors. I didn't have to go back with my own tweezers to get those strays. Sweet. When I was done and after I paid, the receptionist offered a makeup touch up, which I accepted, and she dusted some mineral makeup on my red spots and I was out the door. I wasn't sure if I should give 3 or 4 stars for this salon, and settled on 3 just because I didn't feel that the customer service was a great as it could have been. It seemed hectic, and the fact that I wasn't greeted when I entered the salon is a huge no-no for me at any establishment. I'll come back again because it is the only place I know that does threading, and will update upon my next visit! Hopefully my first appointment was a bit of a fluke and next time will be a great experience. read more

I was able to schedule an appointment online the day of. When I arrived everyone was super friendly and welcoming. I had my eyebrows done by a level 1 stylist. She started out by drawing what my eyebrows should look like and talked through areas where my hair should grow. Then finished with some sort of cream or gel to prevent redness. Months earlier I had called brows looking for an experienced esthetician to wax my bikini and legs. When the receptionist had no idea about any of the estheticians experience levels, I went elsewhere. BIG MISTAKE! I ended up at a place of broadway (which came highly recommended) but was disappointed when I ended up with ingrown hairs for months after! I called my old esthetician in horror and she said i needed to find a place that used NUFREE, a soy based wax. In my search, BROWS came up again, and I decided to give it a try. Seriously, how much do I love Brows? This morning I went in with my grandma (two days after cataract surgery) and her sister for brow waxes. While utterly hip women shuffled in and out, and my grandma and great-aunt oohed and ahhed over the blue toenails, yellow underwear and brow piercings of the cool women that came and left - Michelle made them feel utterly comfortable and treated them both like princesses. Both of these women loved feeling pampered, and they both told me that they wanted to make a habit of going to get "girls spa days" as they called it. Of course, I left with amazing brows, as usual. Bottom Line: Decent brow wax, but not a friendly place. UPDATE: I was informed by the owner that some changes have been made to the interior of Brows, so be aware. The last time I visited (and the information in this review was from Feb 08), so it would be interesting to see the changes. My personal recommendation is still fiercely for Urban Renewal on Colfax and Marion for skill level and awesome-factor. ----------------------------------- I booked an appointment here after my usual place couldn't get me in on short notice (Urban Renewal = RULES). I saw that this place was recommended on BEST OF CHANNEL 7, so I thought I would give it a whirl. So after I found this place in the dark and walked uphill 3 blocks because there wasn't any parking available in the freezing cold, I walked in the door. The place is lofty-looking, and the owner has huge photographs on the wall of brides that have had their makeup done by him. Art would have been better. I was given a glass of water, and they have a really nice sitting area where you can either watch the Highland neighborhood through some product shelving or you can watch the staff at work. When you walk in, you will see two chairs behind the cash register with people in them getting their brows waxed. When I had mine done there was thankfully no one there to watch me get my hair ripped from my face...kind of weird? The girl that did my brows did a fine job, but the place lacks any kind of comfort or friendliness. Maybe that's the point...you're in and out for a wax, strikingly similiar to the feel of getting your oil changed and then you're on your way. Very clinical. If you're down for that kind of experience, be my guest. If you're used to coming into a closed room set apart from people watching you the whole time, I don't know if you'll be comfortable here. Definitely make sure to go to the bathroom before you go, as I had to climb 2 or 3 EXTREMELY steep, winding stairs to a small bathroom. I wouldn't make the trip in any shoes with a heel, or else you may be taking a spill. When I was upstairs, I saw an area set aside...maybe for bikini or brazilian waxing and facials? Pros: Skilled Staff Cons: Atmosphere NOT ideal, parking was a hassle. Recommend: Urban Renewal for all your waxing needs: Make an appointment with Michelle, the owner. She is AMAZING. read more

They offer threading! which is super hard to find in the Denver area. Believe me I've looked everywhere on the internet for a place that threads. I also made the same mistake as another yelper not by walking from my apartment but riding my Bike from City Park on a hot day. I arrived all sweaty and miserable. The nice thing is I think they're use to people coming in sweaty from a walk or bike ride so they offer cold packs for the back of your neck. I'm originally from Chicago and that's where first started going to threading places. The price is a little more expensive than what I'm use to. But I've learned after living all over the US and trying to find threading places in each city prices do vary quite a bit. This place charges $20 something. read more

This place is great! I've been seeing Connie for about 8 months now for eyebrow threading and have nothing but good things to say. My brows weren't terrible before but just a little over plucked and needed some love to let them grow in and look more natural. I like threading more so than waxing because I feel like it lasts longer and makes my brows look more natural in the end. I can't say it isn't painful but pain is beauty! My brows still have a few thin spots but I know it takes time to have them fully come back. I now live in Texas and still come in to see Connie when I'm in town. Compared to other places, this is a consistent person who knows what I would like my end result to be. Eyebrow threading is $20 with her which is a little pricier than some other places but when I'm only going every 6 weeks or so it isn't so bad. Check it out! read more

I was looking for a place to get my eyebrows waxed. Searched on Yelp and found Brows on Upper 15 and read the reviews and noticed Kai was very popular and had excellent reviews. Being it was a Friday I wasn't sure if I would be able to get an appointment on the same day. I called and was so happy to get a same day appointment with Kai. When I arrived I was half an hour early because I wasn't sure of the parking. I went in and they were able to move up my appointment up 15 minutes. Kai asked me if I wanted wax or threading. I told her what ever she wanted to do was fine. She ended up doing both and even penciled in some of my patchy spots. I'm so happy and thrilled with her work! My eyebrows never looked better. I will definitely go back the next time I'm back in Colorado! I wish we had a Brow shop like this on Maui! read more

Best brazilian wax I have ever had--in Chicago, DC, and now here in Denver. Zenobia has great technique to minimize the sting (you'll get that anywhere with anyone, so finding someone who is the best at minimizing this is top of the line), and I don't know what she does further, but going to her has drastically reduced the bumps/redness that I used to get with other waxists. Hands down, the absolute best. Michelle is so far the only person I have come across who does threading. I love this technique and will NOT go back to waxing. She takes her time and is concerned about your look as a whole, taking into account glasses, bangs, face shape, etc. I will say though, that coming from the Indian ladies in DC who grew up with threading for everything, I am a little homesick for someone who can thread through my brows in 3 minutes and have them look absolutely flawless each time. That said though, Michelle is the closest I've come to from an American :) And she is fantastically nice, as are ALL of her staff. All in all, a GREAT find in the highlands! read more

FANTASTIC. FANTASTIC!! I can't really say enough about it. Stephanie is AMAZING. My BFF texted me yesterday saying "I need brow fixing, let's go get brows done and then go shopping." So, I called over to Brows to see if they could get us in, and they could. Sweet! When I walked in the door, the place had that great "lotion, candles, and soothing beauty" smell. You know what I mean, right? Plus, I got a hot chocolate to drink while waiting. My BFF got her thinner, lighter brows shaped up, got a patch test to get them tinted (a nice safety step - make sure you aren't going to break out on your face) and then had the stylist suggest some tips to help her brows look better. And they DID look better! Lovely lovely brows! My brows are quite the opposite - giant scary beasts if left untrimmed. I think my body puts all the hair growing energy into growing my brows, rather than the hairs on my head! But Stephanie wasn't afraid, no, not at all. She shaped them up with threading, understood exactly what I was trying to say, and got the arch PERFECT on both sides. I haven't had brows this good in quite some time. I immediately booked a return appointment. She also filled them in a bit with a pencil, and told me to leave certain spaces alone to allow them to grow a certain way. Super professional work, super friendly atmosphere, and great prices. Sure, it's not a $15 wax strip, it's a little more ($25 or so) but SO WORTH IT. Best brow service I have ever had! I walked in with no appt. The shop is hip and cool with lots of natural light. Chairs spaced nicely and comfy. Technician was knowledgeable and not in a rush. She took the time to consult with me on our mission with my brows. She performed a mix of wax and threading and finished me off with a brow makeup fill in to accentuate my new lok and I love the results!! This place truely is a gem. I left with mismatching brows. one natural and full the other with a very skinny end... and immediately asked to purchase an eyebrow pencil ($22 but didn't want to finish running errands with this wonky brow). Wish they would have picked up on my disappointment and at least offered a discount for the pencil. I have transitioned through a few very different hair colors (super dark to platinum to dark to golden blonde) and Amber has always been on top of keeping up my brows to match. I have been coming to brows for more than four years now. That's so crazy to me. I have tried two other places in Denver, but this place is just top notch. I really like how all of their stylists are now able to thread and can give you a combination of threading and waxing for your best result. I have really sensitive skin, and I really can't be waxed above my brows, so I wax below and thread above. I think Zenobia was the greatest eyebrow artist of all time, but sadly she no longer works here. I usually see Amber, Kai, or Kaela and they all do great work and are really friendly. Also, even though I've been here probably 40+ times, I've been seen on time (or very close to it) at every appointment. That's impressive. read more

Amber did a great job on my brow tint! (and shaping) She was patient and thorough and achieved a perfect shade of red/light brown by careful mixing. My brows look perfectly natural with my henna dyed hair. I've been back twice and the second time she just touched up the shaping with tweezers for no charge. Nice touch. read more

It is my first time here and I can recommend 100% this place. First of all I booked my appointment at 4pm and I missed it cause I was busy, they called me and I explain if I could switch for an hour later (5pm) they said yes super friendly and understanding. I got eyebrow threading with Mica and she was amazing, in other places most of times I get super irritated and sometimes even cut a bit but I GOT NOTHING no redness or cut, she was incredible super friendly and professional. I accidentally reviewed the wrong Brows before! Here was my original message meant for this salon :) I followed Jonathan over to Brows from the Aveda salon he was working at in Cherry Creek. He has a really interesting take on hair and the human head, as he sees it as a spherical architectural concept. He has given me the best haircuts I've ever had and I continue to see him for his unique understanding of cutting hair. For my birthday, they gave me a free makeover and are constantly giving extra little odds and ends. The staff is incredibly nice, always offering tea and muffins and comedy. I have yet to have any other services, but am pleased by their many vegan hair products and makeup. read more
