Ube haze latte + Totoro mochi cookie, what could be a better combo? Loved how cute the cookie was!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute little cafe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Has a food court with seating right next to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]Tried three different mochi buns and all tasted great. Went with a large group and tried a variety of drinks , a really good selection and many iced drinks. They were also really quick to make them despite ordering ~10 drinks. the only drink I didn't like too much was black sesame - maybe better hot but was slightly gritty.

    Good to know that

I went to get breakfast because the review was good and I was staying nearby. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a smaller place than I thought.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was planning to order the black sesame coffee because I was interested in the creative coffee menu. But as I looked at the menu, I changed my mind and decided to make a latte made with Vietnamese coffee. I was looking forward to it because I like strong Vietnamese coffee... But it was sweet. And I bought a matcha character mochi bun, but it was sweet for me. Next time, I'll try stopping by for afternoon break instead of breakfast.

Came here for a snack break since my office is kinda close by. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is so pretty, there's a bunch of paper cranes hanging.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was so hard for me to pick a drink but I decided on the one-misu. It's like a tiramisu coffee mix with ube. The top has egg yolk cream and a lady finger on top. It was so good! I love the creaminess of the yolk either way the lady finger. It's like a dessert and drink in one. The bun had a pineapple bun crust and there was mochi and pineapple filling inside. This was too cute to eat! It was so good!

Got a box of pastries through too good to go. Very good assortment and tasty pastries. My favorite was the one with mochi and ube filling. The chocolate croissant was also solid.

I walked a block out of my way and was 20 minutes late for my booth shift at the convention center in order to come here! Service was very nice and helpful. The menu has so many options, it was intimidating! I would come back just so I could try more--the moissant (mochi croissant) looks so good, as well as Totoro tiramisu (I love love love tiramisu.) They also have boba, ice cream melon pan, croissants, mochi pan, steamed mochi, cakes, and more. I loved my ubemisu latte (iced)--it's like an ube latte with egg foam on top. It was sweet and delicious. I also liked my Pikachu pan. So cute! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's seating upstairs, a cute wall to take pictures with, and the ambiance is bright and airy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Parking: Since it's in the city, parking is a bit difficult but there is paid street parking in the front and multiple parking garage options right next to the restaurant. Food: We ordered the Special cold cut pâté and Supreme breakfast. The cold cut pâté was really good and savory. The breakfast sandwich was on the lighter side and delicious! Dessert: Mochi Melon Pan (Keropi - white chocolate). Drinks: Hot Ube Haze Latte and Hot Hojicha Coffee Cloud. You can really taste the Ube and Hojicha flavors in both drinks!

Latte was not too sweet which is how I like it. Croissant and melon pan were delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not much space in the coffee shop but lots of space up the stairs for siting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Friendly service.

-Basque oreo cheesecake - solid 4/5, would get again -Vietnamese coffee mochi croissant 3/5 - fun, but not special. These "moissants" are on the smaller side -Ube strawberry - 5/5 drink, unique and delicious flavor! - Ubemisu latte - eye-catching due to their yellow yolk foam on top. It's delicious and worth a try for the foam itself [[HIGHLIGHT]]Location is not really a traditional shop, it's connected to a food court but it's crunched into the front space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once many people start showing up to order, it can get crowded and it took a while for the drinks to get made.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute, fun, and delicious concept.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would go back to try more of the baked goods and probably talk myself into buying a drink with it.

While visiting Vancouver, I decided to try this place because they have Vietnamese egg coffee and super cute character baked goods! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Came in on a weekday around lunchtime and it was very busy in the building.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It seemed like it was in the lobby of a food court which was on the upper level. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a very small shop with little seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decorations were super cute and barista was friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He was singing his heart out to the songs that were playing in the shop and it was such a vibe because the song choices were so good! I couldn't help but sing along too lol![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the iced Vietnamese Egg Coffee and it was okay. It was very strong, as Vietnamese coffee usually is but it wasn't very sweet. The egg foam did little to minimize the bitterness of the coffee and didn't really taste like anything. It got the job done in keeping me energized throughout the day though! 3/5 Overall, the Vietnamese egg coffee here was okay, I've had better elsewhere. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes were nice though![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

broye cafe and bakery on 530 hornby, inside international food fair

so i checked out broye bakery and cafe because the line for the hello kitty cafe stretched from robson to haro street, about an hour and a half before the cafe even opened. i aborted my mission and decided to pivot. i've been curious to try broye out since it's the first japanese-vietnamese fusion cafe, and this is their second location. i love japanese sweets and vietnamese coffee. located at 530 hornby street at the international food fair, across from the ywca, this cafe and bakery is really charming. the atmosphere inside is inviting, with a cozy, modern decor that makes it a pleasant spot to relax. their signature coffee drinks are colourful and creative, featuring unique flavours like black sesame, ube, and matcha. each drink is not just a treat for the taste buds but also a feast for the eyes. they have character cookies, mochi melon pans shaped like totoro, pompompurin, pikachu, and keroppi, which are adorable and perfect for fans of these beloved characters. in addition, they also offer the "moissant," a fusion of mochi and croissant that promises a unique texture and taste experience. unfortunately, they didn't have the black sesame coffee i was eager to try, and they had sold out of their vietnamese coffee moissant. in the end, i opted for the purple dalgona, which has an ube flavour with rich coffee foam and round chewy jelly, and an espresso matcha latte. the purple dalgona boba was a delightful surprise, with the ube providing a sweet, slightly nutty flavour that paired well with the rich coffee foam. the espresso matcha latte was perfectly balanced, with the bitterness of the espresso complementing the earthy matcha. i will definitely be back to try their baked goods, as the selection looked amazing and there are still so many intriguing items on their menu. whether you're a fan of japanese sweets, vietnamese coffee, or just looking for a new cafe experience, broye bakery and cafe is a must-visit.

Broye finally opens their second location downtown. I got their ube haze latte ($6.95) which somehow didn't taste as good as my prior experience. This time around, I veered away from my ube bias and got mochi peach oolong melon bread (how can you not based on how cute the cat is?). Fillings were a bit sparse, and I am not a fan of the combo. The sweet crackly part of the bread was nice though. I would say I still prefer their croissant and ube misu.

The menu has shrunk considerably and their business days/hours are also a lot less than what it was previously. The drinks were not as tasty as they used to be. My Blue Rose drink was the best of the bunch and I would say even that was just OK. I enjoyed the Lychee jelly in my drink. That was probably the best part of the drink. The liquid part was kinda "meh" for me. I think the best thing we ordered was the matcha soft serve ice cream. On the flip side, there was a guy playing piano there and they were taking requests. I suggested Demon Slayer and the guy played the famous "Gurenge" song by Lisa from season one of Demon Slayer. That was kinda cool. He was a very good pianist. Great way to liven the atmosphere. Also, there was a guy who came around and gave us all tiny paper cranes. It's nothing much, but still always nice to be gifted with anything at all. Business must be hard for them. It would sure be nice to see them return to how they used to be, with a bigger menu, tastier drinks and more days/hours again. We love this place for the manga/ anime vibes that it exudes, and love the Matcha soft serve ice cream they sell here. Really wanna give this place a higher rating but the drinks were really not up to par this time, and as much as we love the Matcha ice cream, it is not by itself enough to warrant giving out a higher rating. If they could just improve the quality of their drinks again...then even if they menu remains limited, at least if everything they serve is of good quality...that would be enough to merit a higher rating.

According to the website, this chain is named after the owner's golden retriever. It sure looks happy. Parking is available in front of the building, as well as along various village side streets. Staff are friendly and cheerful. No complaints. The doughnuts are a bit pricey but they sure are delicious. I really like "Asian" style doughnuts as they are less sweet than their western counterparts. I had the matcha cream and could definitely taste the matcha. The drive itself led us to an incredible bay that genuinely felt like we'd been transported to Alaska--calm, wild, and breathtaking--and then there was this cozy little gem waiting for us.
