I'd give them zero stars if I could! Bruce's auto shop is pure trash. My father and I took my mom's Jetta in to get worked on after it was in a wreck and they had the car for 3 months. When we got it back, the door didn't open, the window didn't open, the door panel was missing bolts so you can lift on it, the amount of bondo and missing body lines was so bad, they ruined the headliner and on top of that they got mad when we confronted them in front of customers and kicked us out. When I went back they had the cops waiting for me and when I went in I got kicked out it before even getting to talk to the manager. We went above them and started a dispute and got the money back since it was absolutely all of their fault and crappy business practice. You'd be better off spray painting your car in the back yard than taking it to these hacks. Avoid Bruce's like the flu! read more

I am going to start by saying i have used Bruce's in the past paying out of pocket and my experience was good, stress-free. So, going through insurance this time I thought it would be the same. My first red flag was when I dropped the card off in reading the agreement it indicated Bruce's in not responsible for theft, fire or anything while car is in their care....say what? The next call I received was from Bruce's to advise a supplement has been issued for some additional repairs. Insurance company call expressing that Bruce's only uses new parts and when after market parts are available that's what is covers in addition their rates being much higher than what they normal reimburse-at the end of the day when I picked up my car I had to pay $500 over my deductible because the insurance company & Bruce's could not settle. The communication or updates provided on the car status was awful/none existent on the part of Bruce's. NEVER WILL I EVER RECOMMEND OR GO HERE AGAIN! read more

Brought my niece here to get the mirror and passenger lock fixed and alignment. The mirror didn't get fixed. We came to pick up the car and the rep blamed everything on Courtney who's on vacation because she took the original estimate. We have paperwork showing this. Yet, we were told to bring the car back in Tuesday because they had to order the parts. Yet, no one felt the need to do their job. Hire competent workers. If your workers can't do their job, then hire someone that will. There's lots of people out of work that need a job. Your employees have become complacent and not doing their job. There needs to be some checks and balances done to ensure that customers get what they're paying for. To make this right, you need to rush the part and take any fees out of Courtney's paycheck. If employees are held accountable like this, then they'll think twice before messing up. To make matters worst, the young man used packing tape to tape the side view mirror to try to hold it in place. It's hot outside and the adhesive will melt. You can NOT fix everything with tape. Would I recommend this place? That's a hard NO. I won't do business with any of your locations. I will make sure that others know about your lack of customer service, so that they won't do business with you either. read more

Sorry to make my bad experience with one person at Bruces's dictate my review but the technician that came to discuss the repair estimate on a vehicle driven by a recent Uhigur refugee and who immigrated to Richmond 6 months ago but the attitude the technican took with us made it clear there was some serious distain for the refugee and uber driver whose van I rearended. Maybe the technician was having an especially horrible day? I get it. I can't imagine dealing with body shop customers all day long. But even if it was one of the worst days on the job, we were the first of his appointments and i'd not be posting this if there was any doubt in my mind about the message that the tech was giving us. Due to the fact COVID-19 has impacted many lives I really felt the need to share this review. On Tuesday, August 4th I went to Bruce's Super Body Shop to pick up a vehicle that was repaired. In reviewing the car with Carroll, the assistant GM, his mask kept coming down. I had to ask him 3 times to ensure his mask remained covering his mouth in a less than 30 second span. When I asked him a 4th time he was upset and said we were 6 feet apart in his opinion - we were not 6 feet in my opinion. Either way Carroll demonstrated little regard for my health in not wearing a properly fitting mask. If your engaging with customers you should be more aware in these times about safety especially while representing a business. I don't want to get into to many more details but there were other issues with this "confrontation" with Carroll that the GM Kyle apologized for when I spoke with him. (I put confrontation in quotes as this is the description Kyle used.) Kyle was very reasonable and professional in my interaction. One other note I had my newborn in my car and we have been isolating to ensure our health and safety the last 4 plus months. That is the reason we are so careful in our interactions. It is just disappointing and somewhat shocking to me when Bruce's has Carroll out engaging with customers showing such little regard for the safety of others during this pandemic. read more

Both times the repairs were done in less than a week, and was very happy both times with how the repairs turned out, they did a great job on making the new paint blend in right with the car. Our 1999 GMC Sierra was damaged in a parking lot accident and we brought it to this business for necessary repairs. (They had performed a whole body paint job several years back). I have used this is place for years after it being recommended to me by a close friend. Kyle is just the best. They have always fixed whatever problem I was facing. Kyle even called to let me know that the insurance company of a man who rear ended me was trying to use a bumper that was not Range Rover in an effort to save their company money. Obviously, that didn't happen. Came in today as someone had hit my side mirror and he had his guys repair it as to not cause any more issues. Always used this bodyshop in the Past. Sent my daughter to Bruce's after her new vehicle was vandalized. Their adjuster that works with Progressive showed up after more than a week attempting to get someone to respond. He told her to meet him behind the building. When he showed up.She described him as looking like a " skallywag" . He began by stating her claim would be two seperate incidents. She pointed out there was tar all over as it wasn't there before. The adjuster stated it would come off . Then described what they weren't going to repair. This whole operation seemed shady. After she complained his supervisor called me. Her mother. She's an adult and we have no idea how he got my number.I am not listed on her policy. He discussed her claim and basically informed me they weren't going to cover all the damage, would be submitting it as two seperate incidents and " she better get Them to start the repairs because the rental fees were building up ". I only wish I had read the reviews before we dropped it off. What a shame. It used to be a reputable establishment. We are taking it to a reputable shop recommended by a good friend. Never again. HORRIBLE SERVICE Super Bruce Auto 2551 Homeview Drive, Richmond Va repaired my car cost over $4,000 handed me the keys no tags, emptied gas tank and a dead battery. I was in an unsafe car. They were awful even the front desk. I would recommend looking around they are super high and don't care about there customers!!!!!! I spoke with Kile (manager) he was rude unappollogetic and kept hollering you didn't pay for a battery or gas. We took our car in for repair and were told that it would take 8 to 10 days. After 2 weeks (on a Fri.) we contacted them and were told it would be ready Tues. When we hadn't heard on Tues. we called and were told it would be ready Thurs. or Friday. We contacted them and were told that it would definitely be ready Mon. It wasn't. I have a 2021 Toyota Highlander in which I needed a hitch installed for an out of state move. After charging me over ~$950 for parts/labor, I found out 6 days later the lights didn't work (even though they said it did during a test at installation). I found this out as I attempted to rent a Uhaul trailer and my vehicle didn't pass the light/safety test. I brought my vehicle back to Bruce's and they were unable to properly diagnosis the problem. The mechanic told me the problem was my (brand new) vehicle and not the hitch and only Toyota could fix it. After calling every Toyota in Richmond area, I was finally able to get an appointment the next day (keep in mind, I was suppose to move out of state the same day had I not experienced this set back). It took Toyota less than 10 minutes to diagnose the issue, there was a part completely missing. Unbelievable. I think it's fair to assume them stating the lights worked on installation was a lie. Toyota charged me $209 for the diagnosis, parts, and labor. Additionally, I had to pay for an unplanned stay in a hotel the night before the Toyota appointment (just sold my home and had nowhere to live in Virginia). Bottom line, Bruce's body shop charged me "Toyota dealership" pricing to install a hitch, but gave my "Wish" services. In the end, I was out of over $300 additional dollars and lost a an entire day in travel due to this inconvenience. All the owner could say was "they keep changing stuff on these new vehicles". He never accepted responsibility.... Unacceptable! I did not get what I paid for. read more

Today I stopped by Bruce's on homeview drive in Richmond to try to get some touch up paint for my car. It was late in the afternoon and not so sure they could even help me. Kyle took a look at my car and took the paint code and said he would go mix the paint. A short time later Kyle returned with the paint. When I asked how much he said don't worry about it no charge. You don't find customer service like this anymore. I was not expecthing free touch up paint. I am very greatful and would certainly do business with Bruces if I ever need bodywork. It's never a pleasant experience to take your vehicle into a body shop for repairs. I have unfortunately had to do so four times in the last 4 years. The staff at Bruce's does everything they can to turn a bad situation into a positive. They are incredibly friendly and personable they are professional, knowledgeable, and their work has always been top-notch. Yes they are more expensive than many of the other shops, however you get what you pay for. I personally am not concerned with how much an insurance company has to pay out. My focus is returning my vehicle to as close to new condition as possible and Bruce's has always made that happen. Someone backed into my car in a parking lot and I took it to Bruce's because they have the best reputation in town and they lived up it completely. I dealt with Kyle Wills who was professional and courteous and I had complete faith in him to do what he said he would do.....the best part was how comfortable I felt leaving my car in his hands. He also arranged to have a driver there to take me to pick up a rental car. My car was done on schedule and looks brand new. I had to get work done twice -- once when a tire blew out and the rubber beat the fender to death, and once when a college kid turned left across two lanes of traffic right in front of me -- and both times had a good experience. It looked like quality work. On the fender, there was a problem with the plastic liner, but they took it back in and fixed it without question. read more

Someone rear-ended my car late one afternoon while I was in Richmond for a business trip. The State Trooper told me that it was likely unsafe for me to drive because fumes could come into the car cabin due to the trunk being crunched in and not able to close. I was desperate to get my car in a safe condition where I could at least drive it home (four hours away) to get it fixed where I live. That way, I wouldn't have to drive all the way back down to Richmond to pick up my car when fixed. Many places that I called were closing/not helpful. Thankfully, Bruce's said they might be able to duck tape/plastic wrap it back together for me as a temporary solution. I made it to Bruce's 15 minutes before they closed and they patched it all up with tape/plastic wrap free of charge! They were so quick and really helped me out! I had the passenger rear fender and mirror damaged when I tried to put my new, wider car into my small garage. They fixed what I needed without insisting that I repaint the whole bumper like a different shop did. The paint only had a pinhead size nick which I fixed myself with a touch up pen. The estimate was exactly as quoted, and they even fixed the mirror that I was willing to pay for, but they just threw it in. I tapped the mirror, on a different day, after the original quote, which took the cover off of it. They re-attached it. I'm not putting the car into the garage again until I get the door widened. I had hail damage. GEICO did exactly what they were supposed to do. Love my insurance company, wish I had taken my car to a different body shop. Bruce's was recommended by several people that I trust their judgment but I am not completely happy with the service. Please take some precaution before you take your car to the shop. I should have taken my own photos. There is some damage on the rear bumper below the light that was not there before taking it to Bruce's . It was not part of the claim because it is not hail damage. It is from some machine they used to get the dents out of the truck or replacing the trunk however they fixed those dents. Then the drivers side door , there is a plastic cover behind the handle that was broken . They did not go over the car with me They pulled it up and said the keys are inside. When I was looking at the car. A Man came out and said is it okay I was shocked that there was a hint of customer service. I said I guess, the hail damage was gone. I noticed the plastic cover and the bumper damage once I got back to work. I went back, the gentleman spoke to me like "female" what are you talking about . I said thanks and left. I will go to the dealer about the plastic cover and live with the bumper damage. But will never recommend or use Bruce's again. read more

I was looking for somewhere to take my vehicle after it was accident rear ended and Bruce's Super Body Shop on Midlothian was recommended. The staff is very rude and I even called the owner Bruce and he never returned my call. That showed me how much he really cares about his customers.
