We visited English Body Works later in the day and even though it said appointments needed for estimates, we walked in anyway and were welcomed by the owner and his daughter. We explained that a 3'x4' piece of plywood flew out of the back of a hauling truck on the Chesapeake Expressway and hit our front windshield on the passenger side and then flipped and sheared off our passenger side mirror. Even though we hadn't asked for a formal estimate, they went outside and took a look at our car and then started making calls to see if they could locate the parts. They went out of their way to help us. So, they replaced the windshield and the side mirror and they both look/work great. We couldn't be happier with the quality of service that we received. Margaret R. I was referred to English Body Works. I needed to have my spoiler on my 2018 Honda CRV painted which had very low mileage. Also my right front fender had been hit in a parking lot so I wanted an estimate on that too. Johnny explained all that would be needed to be done for both and it really seemed out of my budget. After he figured up the estimates separately on each in case I couldn't do them at the same time, the estimates weren't as much. I was able to do both. I took the car in after lunch on a Tuesday and was able to pick it up at 2:00 on Friday. I was really impressed when I picked up my car. It looked like a brand new car! They did an amazing job. The car had even been washed inside and outside. I was also given a gift bag of goodie - candy, pen, pencil and several note pads. I would definitely recommend this family business to anyone. Serious scammers. Did not honor a first estimate given to me and gave me a second at more than twice the original! Got mixed up about when my appt was, but found it later. No apology. Services delayed for months. Highly recommended to me by some neighbors, but they apparently are honest with only people they know. My car was stolen in June and luckily it was found with a dirty interior and banged up exterior. Luckily my insurance paid for it, and suggested English body works. The staff on the phone was extremely friendly the whole time, and they were very quick to get back to me with whether or not their estimate could work with the appraisal from my insurance. I just got my car back a few days ago and I can tell they did great work. They even fixed my bumper that was damaged that my insurance didn't allot for. The only issue I had is communication. They said 6 days for the repairs when it was taken on a Monday, but they would try to finish in 5 so I could have my car back sooner. I didn't receive a phone call or anything about my car so on Friday at 1pm I called to check in, only to get the shops voicemail because they closed at 12 on fridays. Okay, no big deal. They did say probably 6 days anyway. However, I tried to call Saturday and learned they weren't open on weekends. I called Monday morning, 8 days after I had dropped it off, and they said they were touching up some things and washing it and it would be finished around 4:30. Overall, the car looks amazing and the staff was super friendly, and I'm so glad they threw on the bumper fix without an extra charge. The only reason a star is missing is because I wish I knew they meant 6 business days and not 6 days in general because I had to change some plans around. I am one to give credit where credit is due. This family owned business definitely is awesome. Once you enter you get that at home feeling that you are part of the family and openly welcomed. I was told my car would be fixed between Thursday or Monday. I of course hoped for Thursday and was lucky they were able to deliver my car fixed by Monday. When I get there the son and dad are in the office with a smile and ready to delivery my car offering an extraordinary experience. To my surprise they also cleaned the inside of my car thoroughly and i could only imagine the craziness of trash and filth they had to deal with. So yes I am very thankful. Great people!! I dropped my car off last week first off great customer service. they explained everything to me. They then called me two days later and updated me on my car. I got my car back and it only had 25000 miles on it . I got it back clean and repaired great. I love this place my parents have been coming here since we were kids and the owners are great and now there kids are working there too they are great too. UPDATE: So I took this car to **Caliber Collision** as the lady on the phone at English suggested. FYI, Caliber fears no rust! Caliber's price was fair, their work looks great and is warranted for as long as I own the car, and they polished the fogged headlight lenses for free without being asked. Absolute worst experience ever! I must say I was completely and utterly shocked at the type of service and level of care I received. Upon retrieving my vehicle I was surprised to find several mistakes. I have no body work experience, however these mistakes were blatantly obvious. The shop was supposed to replace a door skin and did not properly replace it, to the point where it vibrated upon opening and closing the door. The paint job was horrible, there were huge swirl marks where they painted. They also failed to replace a part that was included in the estimate. When I asked about the part, they shop insisted they replaced it, not knowing that I had marked the part in fear that they would try and pull a stunt such as this. After a few minutes of back and forth the shop owner became extremely irate, continued to lie about changing the part, yelled and screamed profanity because I accused him of lying (which he was) and called the police because I refused to leave after I stood there and allowed him to rant and rave. They insurance adjuster later confirmed that they did not in fact change the part and door panel was not correctly installed. The shop owner continued to blame his son for the inconsistent work on my vehicle. Do not waste your time here, unless you're not too concerned with the quality of work you will receive. read more

I was happy to find out about this place when I needed body work done. A friend said it was the best and I was definitely impressed with their service and their work. It's a family owned company that definitely takes pride in the work they do. They dealt with the insurance company to make an adjustment to the billing, so I didn't have to deal with it. When I was leaving the the guy that actually did the work talked to me about how the repairs went. I could tell that he took pride in his work. The repairs on my truck looked great, and they had it detailed. Hopefully I don't need to have body work done in the future, but if I do, then I'm happy that I found these guys. read more

RUN FROM THIS PLACE!!! Old man who owns the place plays like the good old boy "southern gentleman" with "yes sir", "no sir" act. Gives the false impression that this is a place where you can do honest business on a handshake. But he lies his good old boy ass off. Took in a certified used car two weeks off the lot for front end repair work. They did a decent job, but when I got the car back the wiper fluid wouldn't pump to the front or rear wiper. I took it back in and they said 1. they verified the pump worked when they wrote the original estimate. 2. Agreed with me that it could NOT be a coincidence that the washer fluid was working BEFORE the accident, but didn't work the first time I needed to use it AFTER the repair. 3. Promised to order the pump and told me not to worry, they would put in a supplement and Elephant would pay. 4. Never put in a supplement. Old liar waited a full week before he called Elephant and told them they washer fluid reservoir wasn't hit, and not touched. Old liar said Elephant denied the supplement. 5. I called Elephant. They said they can't even review a claim to approve or deny unless the supplement was submitted. Old liar did not submit. AND he told them that the washer reservoir wasn't hit and could not have been caused by the accident. (why would he order the part and then tell Elephant it wasn't their responsibility? Does he get more $ if I pay him out of pocket?) 6. Called the Old Liar back. He didn't know I had talked to Elephant. Told me they denied the supplement. (was not submitted, Elephant never reviewed). Said he still agreed with my insisting the failure wasn't a coincidence. When confronted with what Elephant told me he changed his tune and good old boy galot rude and belligerent. 7 Old Liar told me they never inspected the washer fluid reservoir, never touched it, never got near it. Because it wasn't hit, damaged or leaking. 8. When I first took it back, Old Liar said the tested the washer fluid to front and back and they worked. ??? But also, didn't check because it wasn't hit. ??? 8. Hung up on me when I told him to submit the supplement. I guess he thinks that a windshield washer pump that was certified, worked before the collision, and (Old Liar Claims) worked when they checked/didn't check it when they did the original estimate, suddenly failed the FIRST TIME it was used after the "fixed" the car. There are no such things as coincidences. The washer fluid system worked before the accident, won't work after the repairs. I'm working on getting the used car test checklist from the dealership and PROVE it was working. Too long didn't read summary: the NEVER CHECKED THE WINDSHIELD FLUID WORKED. WHEN I FOUND IT DIDNT FAIL THEY LIED ABOUT CHECKING IT ORIGINALLY. THEY ORDERED THE PUMP HOPING TO GET $$$ OUT OF MY POCKET. THEN LIED TO ELEPHANT SO ELEPHANT WOULD NOT SEE THEY ARE INCOMPETENT AND FAILED TO CHECK THE WIPER FLUID PUMP. I will update after the outcome of the supplement Is submitted. read more

I'll be honest- I'm very leary of ALL repair shops (trying to do as little as possible for the most $)...I was SHOCKED at how freakin fantastic my car looked when I picked it up today! Tree limb fell on it and put 50 or so dents-some quite large- all over hood and roof. It needed fairly extensive hammering/ painting, and my main concern was the car being 7yrs old and having the newly painted places match the original paint. I literally couldn't tell what they had painted and what they didn't! Dents- GONE, and I mean there were some deep ones, maybe 1.5-2" deep! While I had no glass work done, they had to take out headliner, doors panels etc, and everything was pristine upon pick up, they even cleaned it up so it was showroom condition! Aside from all that, they were friendly and informative, just how I'd hope a family owned establishment would be (and Brutus the dog is fabulous as well). My mom hit my car and I was devastated, my dad brought it to them and in two days they had this amazing job finished. My paint color is a limited edition color so I was sure I would have to wait for them to order it and everything, but in only 2 days they finished. I also had scuffs on my door and a scratch on my roof that they also repaired without me even asking. I heard of English thru my insurance adjuster. English is a family business. Before any work was done I met Johnny, his two sons and daughter... regular folk with obvious passion for body work. Although I showed up without an appointment they took me right away and wrote up an estimate for cosmetic damage to my front bumper and quarter panel. They estimated four days. It took eight as when they got into it it required a new quarter panel and grill which they hadn't figured on. As far as my untrained eyes can tell the work is perfect. Fit is precise and color match is exact, even the pin stripe. As a bonus the car was cleaned inside and out. It's a four year old car and I keep it clean, but when I picked it up it looked like a new car. Really, I wouldn't think it was possible. On the inside every crack and corner was dust free. Vacuumed to perfection. If they offered a car cleaning service I would use it. This might seem trivial when what you want is good body work, but it goes to their attention to detail and pride in their work. I highly recommend. read more

While they give you an estimate, they also tell you, even though they've checked EVERYTHING, that it will probably come in above the estimate. They talk down to women, and tried to "explain" to me how a 2014 Denali was the same under the hood as a 97 Accord, in reference to coming in over their estimate. If I had my way, I would never cross paths with these people. And their "lobby" is dank, dark and uninviting. read more

English Auto Bodyworks was an awesome experience from a very stressful car accident. My car was hit and Mr. English took really good care of me. He dealt with the Insurance company and the parts suppliers. He was diligent and respectful and knew I need my car quickly so he was able to turn around a tough job in 3 days and put me back on the road. When I showed up to pick up my car, it almost looked like the day I drove it home from the dealership. It was beautiful and I am quite picky! He was attentive and professional and cared about ensuring that I had a good experience. This is a family business where the wife, daughter and son were equally as kind a professional.
