This morning, I stopped in at Bruegger's Bagels in Matthews, NC. I ordered a 24 bagel box for my co-workers. The staff was friendly and helpful. Natasha had a smile on her face and a warm and friendly approach. She was extremely patient with me when I had no idea what to order. Joe (I think that is his name) was also excellent and friendly. He quickly and accurately put my order together. He helped my carry the bagel box to my vechile. This team goes above and beyond. They are truly a blessing. The bagels and food is what you would expect I've been coming here since high school. However the service isn't what I want to deal with in the morning. Three of the employees on the line had headphones in, we're not efficient in their methods or in getting to the next customer. A lot of talking to each other and messing around taking their time. Always ask for a toasted bagel and never get it, like every other place in town, they are warm but nothing close to toasted. Coffee is decent, the Inspection Score at 91 is passing but concerning. They inspect for the same things every time they come and you would think someone would know what they are looking for after a certain amount of time. Customer Service is not terrible but the complacency that takes it down. If you don't like your job move on. We will be back because it is not terrible and on the way to Chapel Hill and convenient. Got here early, not many people around so it was pretty fast. The people were nice and friendly, and the store was clean. However like I said it was early, so if it was dirty already there would've been a problem. Got the bacon egg and cheese on a everything bagel. The flavor of the bagel was good, plenty of coverage, soft and chewy inside. The bacon and egg was ok. Pretty much out of a little heater and not cooked to order, but overall very good flavor. This place used to offer indoor seating but not anymore. I arrived at 10:30a and everything was a mess! The outdoor trash bin is overflowed. The foyer floor, the restaurant floor, and the coffee counter is a literal mess. No one is tending to the upkeep of the restaurant. If you can get past those things, you might be ok with eating the food. The salmon bagel was very fresh. The cream cheese, tomatoes and bagel were also very fresh. The coffee wasn't bad either. Ordered 2 bagels and 1 coffee using the online app; the order was prepaid. Upon entering the shop for pickup it was discovered that the shop's health rating was 88. We find that rating well below our standards for eating in any restaurant. We told the worker that we did not want the order (at this point only the coffee had been made) but the worker refused to cancel/stop the order, finished it, and handed it to my son who threw it in the trash and we left. This was probably my worst experience by far at a Bruegger's. The floor was very dirty, and I had to avoid a pile of dirt that was swept but not disposed of, during my visit and then some. There wasn't even a warning cone to tell people to beware of it. The egg on the bagel was hard boiled or steamed, with green coloring on the inside, which is not how I remember their eggs being prepared. read more

We love Bruegger's Bagels and we drive out of our way to get to this one because, it is not only roomier than the closer Pineville location, it is also considerably cleaner. In fact, we have effectively boycotted the Pineville location because of its consistently subpar sanitary grade... but enough of that... on to the bagels! My wife and I always eat here for breakfast only and go with the toasted everything bagel with their excellent bacon, egg and muenster. Their bagels are some of the best around as is their coffee. Unfortunately this location however lacks both the variety and the convenience of self-serve offered by the other location. Our server was also somewhat surly and uninterested. They got us though 'cause we love their bagels and will take surly over dirty any day. read more

This is the worst Bruegger's I have ever been in. They locked the front door on a Sunday morning so they could "regroup". Then instead of going behind the counter to catch up on orders...the manager decides to police the door and bark orders at her employees. She proceeds to inventory the front drink cooler which had plenty and restock the few items missing...again instead of serving the customers waiting in line or catching up so they could unlock the doors and help customers. It was painful to watch. She was a terrible manager/leader and it shows. I would give it negative stars if I could. read more

When we opened the bag at home we were missing half the order. My husband drove back to the store, had to wait to cut in line to get someone's attention, reordered, and waited, again. He did not receive an apology for the order. The flow in the store is not great and overall, is lacking efficiency - something we have noticed the past few years. So I ordered off of DoorDash. I forgot to eat breakfast this morning and won't be able to eat lunch when I pick up toddler from daycare. I got a single bagel with cream cheese toasted and a smoked salmon sandwich. First of all the smoked salmon. Omg. On a mission to find the wife bagels and this was the closest place around. Well the service was a bit slow but it was to be expected on a holiday saturday around 10am. One of their employees was a bit slow making bagels too but it seemed like he was new. Anyway we ordered three bagels with cream cheese and a Naked fruit drink and a small coffee, total was $14 dollars, ouch. Wasn't expecting that but maybe the bagels would be amazing... Ah no, the bagels were ok. I've had better ones at Panera or Grinds & Glazes in Blairsville, GA. They were just decent bagels, and the toasting wasn't long enough. I prefer a light char on my bagels and Brueggers just does a light toast. The coffee was good but I probably won't be back just based on the price:food ratio. They do have 'last nights' bagels in a bin just infront of the register that would be a way better deal than what I ordered. I didn't notice it until I was sitting down, oh well.
