In town on business and had heard of this place for its legendary baked goods. Stated my day with the jalapeno cheddar bagel sandwich with egg, bacon and cheese. It was like heaven on a bagel. Everything was perfectly done and cooked to perfection. The bagel had the perfect crisp on the outside with amazing softness on the inside. The hardest thing there was leaving with only a breakfast sandwich. Not NYC authentic. I mean, the bagels don't even have a hole. I hate being harsh, but all these other glowing reviews led me astray, so I'm a wee salty right now. As someone who has actually lived up North for a very long time, I can assure you that these bagels are not legit. How so? They lack the right exterior texture and FLAVOR. When I get a good bagel, I can rip it apart and happily eat it plain. I did not have this desire here. I'm still giving them two stars because their bagels aren't terrible/inedible. However, I'd actually prefer buying store bagels.. And that's saying a lot because I rarely buy bread at the store. I feel like my standards dropped when I first moved to Charlotte, but with more businesses opening up, my standards are definitely returning. Good bagels! They are huge, very filling. They are also very doughy- reminded me of a dinner roll... they were light and fluffy and really good! We got plain, onion, everything, blueberry and cinnamon sugar. I liked the cinnamon sugar because it wasn't super sugary with thick clumps like some others I've had, it was just a light brush of cinnamon sugar. The everything bagel also had a ton of seasoning which was great. They also sell cream cheese. We wanted something sweet like honey walnut and the cashier recommended an apple cinnamon one that was really good. My only knock is the price. It was $43 for a dozen bagel and 2 small tubs of cream change but I guess it's worth it for supporting local and homemade! read more

I love finding hidden gems to try and this establishment did not disappoint. I drove about 40 minutes and it was worth it. I bought 2 plain with strawberry cc, poppy with plain cc, jalepeno cheddar with jalapeño cc, everything with BEC, Onion bagel with butter. My only negative critique, is that the buttered bagel needs more butter. There was so little, I thought there wasnt any. The bagels themselves are EXCELLENT. Plenty of seasoning, beautifully baked. The staff were very kind. The store was very busy and the line went pretty fast. The folks there seemed to really like it there. Now mind you, you can't replicate NYC water , however, this is the closest thing to a NY style bagel I've EVER tried outside of the city. Had to go with the everything bagel which was seasoned to perfection. As you can see from the picture, they loaded up with Lox, cream cheese, tomato and capers (I opted out of the onions as I had to speak with people lol!) The staff is super welcoming and you can tell they have that family atmosphere down. If you're ever on this side of town do yourself a solid and go check them out. This is my first time coming, went on a Sunday morning. I love this place not just because the owners are from BROOKLYN (that was a plus) but because the bagels are freshly made, everything taste so good and smells amazing. Everyone who works here is so kind and friendly and draws you right in. When you step in the place you are hit with the fresh baked bagels. Your eyes are glued to all the delicious looking delights. While they have a set of customers and it can get busy, you never feel like or are waiting long. It runs smoothly! I order half dozen of plain bagels and cinnamon raisin for me and a half dozen of salted, cinnamon raisin and everything bagel. The bagel are a great size will definitely fill you up. I also ordered a sausage and egg on a roll and a turkey sandwich on a roll. Both sandwiches were delicious. And remind me so much of back home. This happened TWICE as first time customers: After keying in payment info to submit an online order got this message "we're not accepting online orders at this time." Also, they do not answer their phone (tried calling 3 times in a 1/2 hour in the morning and just got an answering machine. Scary knowing your credit card info went through but *unable to submit the order (twice is my fault but it shouldn't happen once to anyone)! The amount of external flavoring, garnish is great. The text of the crust is not good nor is the crumb, the texture on the inside. Traditional bagels should have a nice first chew on the first bite, which these ones lacked. The fermentation period is most likely the issue, as these bagels are rather fluffy. I was visiting from out of town recently. During a quick run into Harris Teeter my son pointed out Family Dough Bagels. I might have said we'll have to try those while I'm here. Lo and behold a couple of days later my son, bless his heart, brought me a cinnamon crunch bagel. If you have ever lived in a major metropolitan city, I can save you some time. Firstly, I wish the owners much success as I have great respect for people who open their businesses. I'm sure they will do well in this region/location, regardless given how desperate people are for certain foods. As far as the bagels go, I wouldn't waste your time if you have ever had a big city bagel and were hopeful given the very high ratings and reviews. Within about 30 seconds, after taking a look at the bagels on display, it was pretty clear that this was going to be a disappointment. You can just look at some food products and know immediately if it will taste authentic. In this case, not even close. They all looked pale, with different toppings. I ordered an egg sandwich which is a quick and dirty test to see if a bagel is any good. While the eggs were fresh and cooked well, the bagel was tasteless, had no texture, crunch or anything of interest, there was zero flavor/texture and it tasted like a lackluster roll/piece of dough. It doesn't surprise me to see folks raving about a place here, but stating that this is like a NY bagel, etc., and scoring it above below average is a bad joke. Save yourself some time and money, don't bother. read more
