While visiting Charlotte, we grabbed a dozen bagels from this spot. The area is nice, and there's outdoor seating, but the bagels were a letdown--bland and got hard by the next day. Everyone in our group felt the same. The place is clean, but I won't be back for the bagels."

Bagels aren't my favorite in Charlotte, but the staff is so great! Love the scallion cream cheese. Can always find seating inside or outside

Got a sandwich this morning and it was served on half cooked dough. Absolutely disgusting

Egg, Meat & Cheese on a Bagel

I placed a pickup order, when I received my sandwich there was a hair in my food. I have called and emailed many times, no one picks up the phone or responds. If I could give it zero stars I would.

No online ordering at 11:03 AM on Saturday morning

It's 11:03 AM on a Saturday morning and you can't even order online. I understand not allowing it during the earlier rush hours, but at 11:03 AM you still do not allow online ordering? They want you to park, stand in line, order, and wait. No thanks, hard pass. Try harder.

I liked Poppy's, there were just a couple of things that deducted stars for me. It was our first time here. We walked in and the line was kind of chaotic up around the food case. Not knowing which counter we order from, we went to stand right around the drink case and cash registers thinking that was where the line started. We stood there for several minutes until we figured out that was actually the END of the line. I know employees saw us standing there because we made eye contact a few times. I wish they would have let us know the line formed at the opposite end of the room. It was a stressful ordering experience to say the least. We both ordered bagels and water and after we paid, we went to find a seat. I noticed a soda machine in the corner and I remembered, hey we didn't get our water cups. So my husband went back to the counter and asked for water cups, and the employee pointed and rudely said "they're over there". I ordered a California egg sandwich with bacon and it was halfway through my sandwich that I realized there was actually no bacon on the sandwich. I know we paid for bacon to be added. At that point, I was ready to get out of there and I didn't even bother asking for the bacon. The cheese on my bagel was hard and had not melted at all which tells me the egg and/or the bagel wasn't very warm. The bagels were good but my order was wrong and the employees were rude. I think the ultimate fall of our visit was the lack of friendly customer service. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Customer service can make or break a dining experience. I would try Poppy's again, hoping for a better experience next time.

This is one of my go to delis for my breakfast fix on the weekend (and every once in a while when I splurge during the weekday)! Although I typically come for breakfast they have lunch sandwiches and items too. A whole case of fresh salads and sides (made daily) to pair your sandwich with or select on its own! Since covid came around they have setup a texting system for carry out. It's very efficient. You text your order and they send a confirmation saying that your order will be ready in about 15 minutes. They will call if they are out of something and need a substitution so I will typically include those in my text. For instance, this was my last text order: "Carry out order for Ashley. Pork roll (Taylor ham), egg and cheese (american) on an everything OR salt bagel" - Got confirmation it would be ready in 15 mins, showed up in 10 and it was there hot and ready for me! Talk about service! The staff is super friendly and they are fairly quick, but again would recommend texting yourself order in advance ESPECIALLY on the weekend when it can be a little busier.

    Pitiful excuse for a bagel

This place is awful. it's gone straight to garbage town USA. It's not clean. Staff are so miserable and are rude to customers. I got a classic bacon/egg/cheese on everything bagel and I ate two bites because it was seriously one of the worst things I've put in my mouth. Why am I paying so much money for kraft single slice cheese? Extremely overpriced. Never again.

My $19 bagel and small coffee.

Flavor if the bagels, just was so blah! The service was horrible, young lady who took my order - gave me wrong sandwich, I had already left. I still can't believe she was allowed to wear this dingy Hoody that was pulled up and wrapped around her head. There was some guy who came off as the lead or the manager walked in from Starbucks for drinks his matter fact attitude that's what it was he was more focused on their drinks from Starbucks and the customers in the store. I don't know if this is a independent franchise or corporate store , but somebody needs to step in. I was leaving, this lady and I both were chatting how horrible it was there. I've had better bagels and service from the grocery store.

Toasted sesame bagel w/ plain cream cheese ($4.19).

Poppy's Bagels is a solid four stars! I got their sesame bagel w/ plain cream cheese AND their blueberry bagel w/ plain cream cheese. Without a doubt, the sesame bagel was much yummier than the blueberry bagel. The sesame bagel tasted delicious and had a perfect chewy consistency. They were pretty darn fantastic. The blueberry bagel, on the other hand, was lacking blueberry flavor, had zero sweetness, and was oddly salty? Uh oh. But even if I were rating only the sesame bagel, I would still give Poppy's four stars. As someone who LOVES bagels, I've had a ton. And Poppy's is ever so slightly missing sparkle. But I'll be back because they do hit the spot when you're craving a bagel! Just note, a bagel w/ plain cream cheese costs $4.19. That's not exactly cheap, nor expensive! Oh no! I almost forgot to mention that the workers here are so sweet. They know so many of their customers by name and know their customer's go-to orders. That's super cute!

A little spendy but solid bagels (coming from someone spoiled by NY/NJ bagels!)! Lots of bagel and cream cheese varieties to choose from.

I know I made it look very pretty in my photos, but don't be fooled. Here is the complete review. We found the green tomatoes bland and appeared to have been frozen before being prepared. The "Gravy Train" with the mini biscuit was inedible. The gravy itself was OK. Nothing special, not one of the three were "great." But the mini biscuits were terrible, hard, dense chunks of dough. I ate one of them and discarded the rest. The "Chicken Ditch the Waffle" was equally terrible. Whatever they did to turn the biscuit into "fake" French toast is a 100% fail. They were as dense and unappealing as the mini biscuits. The chicken itself was fine. If I was only rating the chicken I'd probably give it a 3.5. The best dish was actually the "GOAT." It was served with a Standard biscuit which we thought was still too dense and dry. I recommend finding an independent restaurant that serves real, "from scratch" food. I should point out that the service crew in the dining room who delivered the food as well as provided cleanup and assistance, were exceptional. They were friendly, courteous, and focused on customer service. I'm sure they deserve more than they are being paid. It was obvious many of them were spanish-speaking immigrants. Not everyone in the restaurant treated them with the respect and gratitude they deserve. Here's the detail of our order from their menu. I like the Spanish Omelet keto-style. Instead of a biscuit and grits, you get a half of an avocado (sliced) and a roasted tomato. The omelet is always full of flavor, and I love it. My husband's favorite is their White Chocolate Bread Pudding Pancakes, with bacon ($2 extra). Don't let the name deter you--these pancakes aren't too thick. They are slightly chewy, and the white chocolate whiskey sauce is amazing. He rarely uses the syrup! Ruby's coffee is always good and strong, and their service is great, no matter who you get. Unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming. It was smaller than I expected and didn't really resemble an omelet. It was a little messy and slightly runny for my taste. On the side, I added a single pancake and a bowl of grits, both of which were delicious though. I had a good experience and will definitely be back. I just wish the omelet had been prepared a little better.

There are enough combinations that you could come back several times and order something different each visit. I ordered the Chicken and Red Velvet Waffle. It comes with crispy fried chicken, a red velvet waffle, cream cheese drizzle, syrup, and cinnamon butter. The chicken was crispy and juicy, although a few bites were a little salty. Not every bite, and the syrup balanced it out nicely. The cinnamon butter was a nice touch. However the waffles literally disintegrated under the chi My daughter ordered the Crab Cake Benedict Biscuit, and we shared it. It comes with a crab cake, sunny side up eggs, arugula, spinach, and hollandaise on a flaky biscuit. We also shared an order of Crispy Brussels Sprouts. I had never heard of bacon jam before seeing it on the menu. If you like to customize your food, you'll have fun here. I came in expecting average and left planning my next visit.
