Love the bagel and sandwiches here but the people are just not friendly. There's no clear process on how to pick up an online order so when you walk in they see you but they won't acknowledge you until you stand there long enough...I'm not about to cut people in line while the place is busy. This is the second time that I've been met with clear attitude. First time it wasn't even busy I was just skipped on purpose until I said something...second time the lady even throw her hand gesture at me like I was dumb. And while I enjoy the environment, the friendliness of the people working there, and the fact that you get your orders in a New York minute, Poppyseed Bagels disappoints in the one area that matters most: the food. The bagels aren't fresh and are substandard compared to the bagels I enjoyed in NY. Their bacon is also always either burnt to a crisp and falling apart or cooked well enough for you to notice that the taste is off. The eggs aren't that great either. It's so disappointing. I hate writing this review because I really wanted to love this place but the food just isn't hitting. We recently went to Poppyseeds Bagels to find deli comfort foods to cater my mother's funeral. The staff was amazing, and they worked with us to plan and place the order. On the day of the funeral, they recognized us when we pulled up, and started to bring the order to the car before we'd even walked inside. The smoked salmon platter and pastry platter were both beautiful, the salads (egg, tuna and whitefish) were delicious, and of course, the bagels and bialys were fantastic. We don't live nearby, but we will go back as often as possible to try everything, including their breakfast specials! read more

They are just not friendly. Occasionally they have an employee who no tries to be friendly but that person is told they are wrong. Their bagels and coffee are good but the attitude of the management no so much. And if you are hoping for WiFi, the employee will say yes but the manager will say NO! read more

Have lived around the corner from the Weddington location for years and have been wanting to try. Even though I've seen several not so good reviews we decided to finally give them a visit since we were in the mood for a good bagel. Unfortunately BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE PLAYS A BIG PART in many reviews and our experience. Upon entry the older woman who takes orders did not acknowledge us even though there were only three customers in the shop. We had to ask if we could place an order and she quickly and rudely responded "WHAT DO YOU WANT". Since this was our first visit we danced for a few seconds about suggestions for popular picks and her response of what they don't have. Finally landed on ordering a plain bagel with grape jelly and cream cheese and an everything with bacon, egg, and cheese. Both selections were dry and honestly tasted like day old instead fresh. Unfortunately this is one of the only breakfast place/deli close to our house. Food is good but quality changes every time I come here. Depends who is making the food. Sometimes chicken salad sandwiches are loaded with meat and is a great portion. Other times they use smaller bread and barely put any meat. Lately it's not been good, disappointing. The food was fine. But the shady part was the transaction. I paid in with a credit card, I was told one price. Then charged 4% more (hoping I wouldn't notice). And when I checked my receipt it said I paid with cash on the merchant copy for a lower amount than my actual copy. However, this food is inedible. Note that you have to ask for your bagel toasted, this is not included even with breakfast sandwiches. They will give you hot egg & melted cheese on a cold bagel. Not necessarily a bad thing but something we as first timers didn't know. We sent our bagels back to be reheated & the images are what I opened the already ripped foil to ( I guess from when they attempted to reheat it?) The bagel was indeed still very cold. Not sure if the manager was out today or the staff was brand new, untrained & never eaten a bagel. If I didn't tell you what was on this bagel would you know? Sadly the cream cheese container that was emptied onto my bagel is not very tasty (maybe they use the same spatulas for each one? or maybe it's expired?) Went for the Bialys with a smear and a potato knish. The potato knish was okay dipped with mustard which made me crave for a hot pretzel. Took my family to this poppyseed bagels place this weekend and was disappointed to say the least. I should not have to get into a full boxing match with my bagel to eat it and honestly I had to scrape through a wall of cream cheese to even find the bagel. The bagel was so hard I gave it to my 8 month old baby as a teething toy which we still have. I can hear it when it hits the floor from downstairs. I love a good salt bagel and there are no Bruegger's Bagels around my area in California. (Other bagel places don't offer the flavor, which is a disappointment.) When I came to visit my folks around the holidays in 2017, they took me here for breakfast bagel sandwiches one day. Located in the same plaza as Harris Teeters, it's a good-sized bagel shop that sells baked goods and offers Boar's Head cold cuts to make a deli sandwich. To me it evoked a Jewish New York deli with the offerings and it's no surprise that the owners hail from NY. Service is quick and everyone who has served us has been friendly - I always got this vibe that this is a neighborhood spot and the rapport between the staff and locals is apparent. (Often when I'm waiting for my order or watching as people pick up their orders, the people behind the counter are chatting with the locals or cracking jokes before the locals depart with orders in hand.) Usually that kind of relationship between the customers and business owners tells me it's a quality place worth visiting over and over again. Bagels are always made fresh with no shortage of the flavoring per bagel. Salt bagels come with tons of salt crystals on the bottom half of the bagel and the chocolate chip bagels are loaded with chocolate. Without a doubt, these are some of the best bagels I've ever eaten. Pricing is very fair and I'm always going to stop by whenever I'm in town. Part of me wishes there was a place like this near me in California, but I know where I can get my salt bagel fix when I'm in Charlotte. read more

Several awesome cream cheese flavors and lots of bagel flavors. I saw breakfast options with eggs and meat on the menu. There were lots of sweet treats to choose from, black and white cookies, cupcakes, and more. They had a couple drink fridges with a nice variety of unique and classic bottles.
