Bruiser's is a cool little joint housed in what was a gas station when I was a kid. That fact allows for the dinning area to be surrounded by large open windows which is kind of nice. The place is colorful with a full bar if you'd like a cocktail or a cold one with your hotdog. The dogs are the gourmet type, lots of topping options. Today my all American dog was a nicely presented 1/4 lb frank smothered in onions and homemade chili, and a very nice side of homemade jambalaya. Stopped in today for lunch. You can tell the owners care about quality ingredients and are trying hard. The restaurant is clean and the decor is fun/kitchy. Unfortunately the food (other than the jambalaya) wasn't worth the price. My Chicago dog had way too much mustard, not enough celery salt, and instead of slices of tomato and a sliver of pickle, I got huge wedges of both. Couldn't even taste the hot dog. I lived in Chicago for five years, believe me, I know what a Chicago dog is. This wasn't one. Hubby's chili dog was okay, but the chili was pretty lackluster, as was the coleslaw, both just sort of bland, which was surprising since the jambalaya was so tasty. We might give this place one more try to see if there's a hidden gem on the menu, but this visit was sort of a dud. read more

Pretty good hot dog! I didn't know this place sells mostly hotdogs when I first went in the other day. I went in because it was new and I pass it all the time and to be honest, I only went thru the trouble of parking in their tiny lot to see what beers they had on tap. None. BUT... they had Sam Adams, so I stayed. In fact, I had already eaten an earlier small lunch, but I asked for a menu anyway and decided to get something to eat. Their service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere is open and bright. Not bad. I got the jambalaya dog and it was good and more than I care to really eat. Next time, I'll get a chilidog. I'm not normally a hotdog fan, but I confess that I'm a sucker for a footlong chilicheese coney at Sonic. If the jambalaya dog I had was any indication, Bruiser's is gonna have that beat for sure. read more

Our food took over 40 minutes to come out and people that ordered way after us got their food before us and actually left before we got ours . All we ordered was 3 hotdogs so it wasn't like we were waiting on a big order. We almost left but instead went up to check on our order. This place popped up and was a true blessing to the Northshore. It has great hotdogs and the chef keeps something new on the menu.
