Decent food, nothing that really jumps out, but I've always had good experiences here. The service is consistently great and they have a wide drink selection. The restaurant itself is very clean too. I've eaten here and also done takeout a few times. The pasta dishes taste really good but they do come with a lot of oil which isn't always ideal. I also got a to go salad once and it was pretty heavy on the lettuce and light on the chicken, which was a little disappointing. I decided to order the spicy shrimp tacos and while they were good, the pineapple absolutely overpowered it to the point where it was hardly spicy at all. For a drink I got a sweet tea which wasn't sweet at all and for dessert I ordered the chocolate torte. The chocolate torte was AMAZING and I would return based on that alone. The food was really good, and our server was fantastic. He was friendly, fast, and efficient, which we really appreciated since we were on a tight timeline to make it to the show. The only downside was the lack of a host or hostess to seat guests. On a regular Thursday night, that might not be a big deal--but with a concert nearby, the restaurant was packed with other attendees trying to eat quickly. Without someone managing seating, it turned into a bit of a free-for-all. Some guests were skipping the informal "line" and grabbing tables ahead of others who had been waiting, which created frustration and tension. My wife and daughter split the spicy chicken nachos. Food came out fast and it was fresh. Pizza was ok. Good not great. Not worth $16. Nachos were also good $13. Wife had a cocktail called Cruel Summer and daughter got sangria. Drinks were good. I guess I'm still adjusting to inflation and restaurant prices. Nachos and 12 inch pizza for $29? Ridiculous. The food filled our bellies but there was nothing to bring us back. The lack of allergy protocols deducted one star from the rating. Best part is the experience was our server. Bru's Public House is our regular spot for Friday night football games at Cardinal Gibbons HS, where our son plays on the varsity team. Being that we both work, we don't often get to participate in the pre-game tailgate so, this place has become our regular spot for a pre-game dinner. They have re-worked the menu from when it was Honest Abe's a couple of years ago. The beer and cocktail list was expanded and I would classify this place as an upscale bar food type of venue. They added some nice and different appetizers and mixed in some healthier options in terms of salads on the menu. I have dined here twice recently and my wife maybe three times. In each visit the experience has been pleasant and the food really good. I like that they have expanded the beer list from years past. They offer the usual domestic - import list but they also now offer a nice craft beer menu from local and out of state producers. The cocktail menu has been upgraded as well. Hey, you might need a good drink (or two) prior to attending your son's football game. Also, the place has been lively the times we have visited. Definitely check Bru's out prior to attending an event at the PNC or Carter - Finley (which is not far away), if you need a quick bite to eat or a cocktail (or two).
