Our initial experience wasn't great, getting the first visit scheduled took forever. That should have been my clue. Every appointment since has been very difficult to schedule. When my child is due to be seen, they have one appointment to offer. If that doesn't work, they will suggest something two weeks later. Well that adds two weeks to the treatment time - nobody wants that! Their appointments are only available between 8:20 and 3:20 (and I don't believe they are open on Fridays), so your child will always miss school for this (and you will miss work). Maybe this is a small sacrifice to make, but I wish I had known before we started here or I would likely have gone elsewhere.

When I politely asked to speak with Dr. Morrison, I observed the individual's tone and body language change. I felt she became rude and dismissive, repeatedly telling me that Dr. Morrison was busy and had other patients, even after I calmly explained that I was willing to wait. I also felt that she was trying to prevent me from speaking with either Dr. Morrison or the dental assistant who had personally scheduled and confirmed my appointment just two days earlier. After I was finally brought to the back by a hygienist, both Dr. Morrison and the dental assistant told me they had been completely unaware of what had occurred at the front desk. They were unaware that I had repeatedly requested to speak with them or that there had been a scheduling issue. I believe the situation could have been resolved much sooner had they simply been informed that I was asking to speak with them. While I have complete confidence in Dr. Morrison and greatly appreciate the care provided by her clinical team, I left disappointed by my front desk experience and concerned about how the situation was handled. My four children all had braces, and my husband had braces as a child. When I was a child, my brother had braces, and I asked my dad, hey dad, can I get braces? He said...when you grow up, if your husband wants you to have straight teeth then you can get braces. In other words, he wasn't interested in paying for them. Back then...it was also assumed I wouldn't have a formal education... But, I digress. This year my decision to seek out information about wearing braces led me to Dr. Goeckner at Goeckner & Gibbons Orthodontics in Wilson, NC. It's a 30 minute drive, but I decided to go up and discuss it with Dr. Goeckner because she was easy to speak with over the phone. The office reminded me very much of New England in the 1970s. Not a lot of flashy stuff, just solid wood, and comfort. Cleanliness, and great manners. My kind of place and the price was budget friendly too! I decided to go with Invisalign's and I was very happy I did! I'm only into my ninth week and I'm already seeing some improvement in my bite, and in my smile!!! I can remove them to eat, and brush my teeth. They are not painful to wear, but if there is any discomfort an Advil does the trick. I highly recommend Goeckner & Gibbons Orthodontics, for these reasons. The staff is so professional, kind and helpful, and the doctors, dental technicians and nurses are first class all the way. I simply asked Dr. Frank Rudey (whom I was meeting for the first time) about permanent retainers, as they had been previously recommended. He began to answer but then abruptly stopped, stated that I didn't trust his professional opinion, and said the other doctor who had originally recommended the retainers should finish the appointment instead. Then, he left the room--yet no one else was available, of course. I'm not sure what prompted this reaction--whether he dislikes being questioned or took issue with my Russian accent--but I left feeling disrespected and offended. After investing so much time and money into this treatment, I never expected to encounter such rudeness and unprofessionalism.
