Later that day they gave us a courtesy call to let us know that some storms were coming in and if we were coming in from the west we'd be hitting some significant rain. Pretty nice. Very good RV park. The sites are nice. Not paved but still very good. Small gravel makes it easy to level. Picnic table at each site is on concrete slab. Full hook-ups. When we got there and were hooking up a member of the staff drove by our site and called us by name and asked if we were doing ok. Great service! Very nice large pool. It's open 9:30a-9:30p. They have a volleyball net and basketball hoop so you can play in the pool. Park is pretty large. There is a pond out back where you can go fishing. They have cabins available and a few have good sized decks that overlook the pond. Nice tent area with covered picnic tables and electrical outlet. Would like to have seen grills at each site. Cabins and tent sites seem to have them, but RVers like to BBQ, too. Also some recycling bins would be good. We pulled in after dark and the entrance was not very well lit and there were a lot of cars due to an event in the Rec Center so it was hard to see where we were supposed to park to check in. We found this to be a very nice campground, beautifully maintained, quiet and peaceful, staffed by friendly and gracious people. It is a very scenic place with a nice pool and a pond if you like to fish or just watch the moon rise. We are tent campers, and were happy to see that there was some shelter from the hot Texas sun along with close water and power. We booked in advance and we looked forward to our one night stay in Caddo Mills, but when it was time to leave, we wish we could have stayed several days longer.

It's been an Amazing place, pecans all over, quite, RV's are kept clean and the people tend to stay to themselves. Owner has provided a great location and ample of space for the Full timers. I highly recommend if you want to save money and live in peace. My husband said maintenance is super friendly too. Our son has no concerns and love that he's close to home. This is after working for a company that has placed my wife and me in over twenty-two different locations. In the last three years, while living here, we have truly discovered how little we need to be happy. The pursuit that we had been chasing for many years--having a big house, a pool, and acceptance from neighbors--was proven to be not worth it. Although we acquired that big house, we found ourselves only using three rooms, and most people were busy with their own lives, not having time to come to our home. We moved here temporarily while exploring our options, yet quickly came to understand just how fulfilled we are being around some of the most honest, caring, non-judgmental, and hardworking families that make our community and country great. Tonya and I keep to ourselves, but many people here have no idea of the impact they've had on our lives with just an honest hello or how are you doing. This is a community that reflects what is missing in America: putting down the phone and appreciating what nature, our families, and those around us offer. I cannot express enough how much Mr. Johnny and Mrs. Patty mean to my wife and me. We have never been close to any immediate family, yet the care and compassion they have always shown us remind us that genuine care for one another can create family bonds. While I will genuinely miss the opportunities to see a great group of friends fishing, laughing, and cooking beneath a beautiful setting sun, along with peaceful evenings spent outside watching the fish and assorted wildlife on the pond, I am grateful to have discovered once again how this community has blessed us as we embark on our next journey. There is a trail at first for the bikes and hikers and than it splits. Hikers go to the left, bikers to the right. Just be aware of each other and all is good. Hikers make sure to step aside for the bikers, harder for them to slow down and pick up their momentum again. Seeing how this was my first hike and I'm a big girl who lost some weight, I did the littlest trail first. Only took me 25 minutes. Worked out my heart though. They also have a place where kids could do bikes on hills. Does that make sense lol Cool place over all ! Will be back.

The state park had multiple clean restroom facilities with water fountains and places to fill bottles. I enjoyed a 14 mile trail run, looping each trail several times. Multiple trails offer lakefront views. The park is open early (6 AM) all the way til 10 PM with self-pay options for entering. At just $5 to enter, it's a real bargain to get outside and get your dose of nature in. There were minimal pests (bugs) throughout the park (unlike my last trip to Broken Bow!), and I must have seen at least 20 deer in the 3ish hour period I was there. It's not Colorado or anything, but for being so close to Dallas it's a perfect retreat. The park staff was very friendly, along with all the locals I encountered on the trails!

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are trails as well as paved paths for walking and jogging enthusiasts. The trails do not have much of an elevation change, but they are immersive enough to where you feel like you are in nature. In the midst of one of the trails, you can see the platforms and zip lines associated with the Go Ape Adventure Park. There is a part of another trail that has a beautiful wooden deck that is very peaceful and is akin to other parks I've experienced in Japan and Hawaii. So, if you like changes of scenery, Oak Point is a great option- it's a chameleon in that way. There are restroom facilities that are well maintained located by the large pond as well as ample parking. As far as variety of landscapes and well maintained grounds, Oak Point is definitely a terrific option for outdoor activities in DFW.
