I love the ice cream SOOO much!!! I normally get Coffee Oreo and Double Fudge Brownie in a waffle cone and it is amazing!!! The people there are so nice, too!! They always ask you questions!! The Ambiance is so nice and kid friendly! Bruster's has a whole "BACKYARD" with benches to sit on. There is space to run around for the kids, because once they finish their ice cream, the adults will still be talking or finishing up their own ice cream, so the children NEED a space to run around. Sorry guys but I just don't like this ice cream. It's too "manufactured". It's unnaturally creamy (like you find with shaving cream) and every thing I've ever tasted is way too sweet (including the no sugar which can weigh in with a whopping 30 carbs - 10% of your daily allotment for a 1/2 cup serving). The consistency is not natural - it has to be the result of guar gum and other additives. I like that the kids get free baby cones until they reach 40" high - but that's not enough. The prices are really high - I'd rather spend my $3.00+ on a pint of Hagen Daz than on one scoop at Brusters. I can't figure out why there's always a line. Here's my real complaint!!! They call it REAL ice cream in the name. Hunh? If you want real go to the grocery store and buy something made with milk, cream, sugar, and other natural goodies or make your own. Surprisingly good ice cream. Cones are fresh. I cut the small size waffle and it was perfect. I ate the whole thing. Got the ice cream peanut butter and chocolate. It was memorable. I was just at your camp hill location when I was told by the girl that she couldn't scoop my banana split into a waffle dish. I told her I've always had it made that way. She told me that it shouldn't have been because you guys get complaints it spills?! Lol is that true and if so how ridiculous. Just FYI I've been getting it made that way for 10 years and never had it spill or made messy. What was messy is when I poured my own split into the side waffle dish I ordered at the counter. Next stop, liposuction and angioplasty. With all this frozen yogurt craze, people seem to forget what real ice cream tastes like. It's got cream, sugar and, yes, fat. It's not good for you, but, boy, does it taste good! Bruster's ice cream is just that: rich, creamy and decadent. It brings you back to the good ol' times when people didn't have to worry about gas prices, cholesterol or carbon footprints. Walk up to the little kiosk and look at the menu. They have about 20 flavors available, but their selection changes daily. You can order a single or a double scoop, but I have to warn you: a single scoop is a LOT of ice cream. I am guessing a double could feed a family of four. Get a cup, a waffle cone, a sugar waffle cone or, if you're worried about getting ice cream on your clothes, opt for the waffle bowl. I tried the birthday cake flavor. It tasted like vanilla ice cream with frosting, I guess. Interesting. Oh, and I have to say that the employees could not have been nicer. Everyone was smiling and looked like they actually wanted to be there. There's nothing worse than a sad clerk behind the counter! It's a happy place. I read Amy's complaint over 'too creamy' ice cream that 'obviously comes from guar gum and other additives'...she makes it sound like there's some sort of 'ice cream conspiracy' going on over there. Guar gum is a perfectly natural ingredient (made from the guar bean) in a lot of products (currently getting a lot of use in gluten-free cooking); it helps stabilize ice cream and prevent the formation of ice. There are many more ice creams that DO use it than don't, and the amounts used are minute. All I know is, I like what I taste, and I don't see anything unnatural on that ingredient list. There is variety, fun, and tasty ice cream at Bruster's. Some folks just take themselves way too seriously. The thing that matters most in ice cream is 'overrun', the ratio of air to cream - and the butterfat content. Bruster's shines in both areas. I have been to this place a few times with family. It is very inconsistent. You will get a good nice sized cone one day and the next a baby sized cone for the same price. The owner needs to teach the very young workers how to form a consistent sized cone or just pile it on like 3 B's does. On many days the ice cream tastes great yet on others just average. I called to see if they had Birthday Cake ice cream before we went because we live 30 minutes away. The guy that answered said yes! My son and I got there and asked if they had Birthday Cake because it wasn't on the menu and the girl said yes. We ordered 2 small waffle cones and I paid $8.25 in cash.
