Newly rebuilt after a fire last summer this location has been turned into the new style DQ "Grill & Chill" You are able to order on top of your standard Ice Cream and Cakes, Fast food ranging from Hamburgers, French fries, Fish sandwiches, and other things. I ordered a bacon burger with lettuce and onions and it was pretty decent, nothing I would give up my love of Five Guys for or anything, but it's something to fill the stomach in preparation of a Blizzard. The person with me got the Fish Sandwich and said it was also ok, but nothing amazing. The servers are a little clueless when it comes to what goes on what so they constantly needed to refer to a "cheat sheet" when I asked them about their various food offerings. Apparently according to the manager here, all the DQs in the area will eventually be remodeled into these Chill&Grills.

The bf and i went for a dessert with 10 mins until closing time and they still delivered us last-minute-ers with a smile and a beautiful banana split (with caramel instead of pineapple) and an oreo blizzard (made with chocolate icecream). I was very impressed with how nice they were and how perfect the banana split looked even though we were the very last people showing up minutes before lights out. That is great customer service!

The only thing that changed here is the prices! Ice cream is always good and so is the food

And let me tell you, I've been to plenty of DQs in my life--never once have I seen these mythical cupcakes in a freezer case.

Kristy's Whistle Stop is a time machine with sprinkles on top…read more The last time I was here? Well...let's just say it was before AOL, dial-up modems, and ICQ chat rooms. Before "the internet" was even a thing for regular folks. Basically, I hadn't been back since dinosaurs roamed the earth (aka 30-ish years ago). And honestly? Not much has changed--and that's exactly what makes it perfect. Picture this: 50's-style décor, a pavilion full of those old-school round concrete tables, and a line of ice cream lovers spilling out the door and halfway into the parking lot. I showed up on the Friday of Labor Day weekend and sure enough--limited parking, crowds everywhere, and people walking around holding ice cream creations so glorious they could've been centerpieces at a wedding. After standing in line (and mentally preparing for glory), I found my holy grail: The Stinson Special. Peanut butter ice cream loaded with Reese's Puffs, Reese's Pieces, peanut butter cups, and a peanut butter swirl. Basically, peanut butter on peanut butter on PEANUT BUTTER. No way was I risking this masterpiece in a cone--two scoops in a bowl, please and thank you. A few minutes later, I heard the call: "STINSON SPECIAL--TWO SCOOPS!" That was my moment. I grabbed my prize, slid into a concrete table under the pavilion, and...oh. my. goodness. It was orgasmic. Every single bite was a peanut butter explosion with different textures and crunches--smooth, swirly, chocolatey, crunchy perfection. Halfway through I had to take an intermission to gather strength before diving back in. Worth every bite. Next time, I'm hunting down the pulled pork sandwich I haven't had since the 90s--if it's even half as good as I remember, I'll be in foodie heaven all over again. Pro tips: - Get there early. - Expect a line (and enjoy the people-watching). - Have a game plan for where you're eating, because the inside is way too crowded for a proper foodgasm. Kristy's Whistle Stop is still doing its thing after all these years...and its thing is absolutely worth the trip.

It's a pretty simple but effective menu of scoops, shakes, floats, and sundaes. We were each going to get a flavor and share but saw the flight option: 4 kids sized flavors in their own little cubbies in one container. Highly recommend this if you're torn on flavors. Many of the flavors were monthly, so even if I loved them, I understand they might not be around next time. The brown butter sugar cookie was sweet and creamy, the watermelon was refreshing and light, the espresso martini was rich and complex, and the more regular flavor Dutch chocolate was perfection. They give out samples which was great because one of the seasonal flavors wasn't to our liking, so we were able to pivot. Don't abuse sampling privileges and don't be afraid to try some of the more unique flavors. You never know! They have their operations down pat, so the line moved quickly. The employees seemed nice, and the cost was very reasonable for specialty flavors. You can't go wrong trying this place.

I'm driving and see a sign for Urban Churn Ice Cream. I make a turn and plan for a small cup. What I didn't expect was miles of smiles! This is a nice neighborhood ice cream spot with some unique flavors. My server said I can mix the flavors so one scoop of Dark Soul and one scoop of Chocolate Cherry. Fantastic! Homemade ice cream, total worth the stop.

After a great Friday Date Night dinner, there was only one logical next step: ice cream. Not…read moresoft-serve-from-a-chain-on-every-corner ice cream. Real ice cream. The kind that requires intention. Enter Faye's Ice Cream Parlor, which I learned (the hard way) is one of the very few local ice cream shops that's open year-round AND late enough to actually grab dessert after dinner in the winter. Bless them. A little pre-visit research led me to Faye's social media to confirm they were open--and that's when I saw it: Peanut Butter Blast. Creamy peanut butter ice cream loaded with Reese's Pieces and Peanut Butter Cups. As a lifelong peanut butter enthusiast, my fate was sealed. Thanks to a recent Central PA snowstorm, street parking was...adventurous. After one strategic lap around the block, I found a spot just a few spaces from the front door and felt like I had won the lottery. I carefully perched my car atop a snowplow-created mountain and hustled inside in search of warmth...and ice cream. Inside, there was only one other group of customers, which made perfect sense given it was late January, about 15 degrees outside, and there were still inches of snow piled everywhere. I was oddly comforted knowing I wasn't the only person craving ice cream in the dead of winter. I ordered the smallest dish they offer (a kiddie size for around $4), slid into a retro booth in the back, and dug in. The ice cream was fabulous--rich, creamy, and absolutely loaded with peanut butter goodness. Zero regrets. But honestly? The interior might have been my favorite part. The full-on 1950s vibe--from Elvis to Marilyn Monroe, the decor, and the music--felt like stepping into a time capsule. I have nothing but respect for the staff who listen to the classics all day, every day...because I personally could not do that without losing my mind. Still, it absolutely fits the charm. Bottom line: Faye's is a super solid ice cream stop any time of year. Between the great ice cream, cozy retro vibes, convenient location, and rare winter / later-night hours, this place is a win! I'll definitely be back--especially once the weather breaks and I no longer have to scale snowbanks for dessert.
