Sweet tooth craving? Check! Real is right! After dinner we came here for a small treat. I got the mini scoop of butter pecan and hubby chose the death by chocolate. This is delicious ice cream! The butter pecan was packed with pecan halves, slightly salty and no broken bits or pieces. I was surprised at how many pecans were in their size small serving! They blended perfectly with the buttery sweetness of the ice cream. It almost tasted like gelato, it was so fresh. This is a far cry from supermarket brands, no, this is supreme ice cream! Made in-house with real ingredients! We got a generous scoop for $3.99! (The founder, Bruce Reed, put the Bruce in Bruster's, and he's been scooping up customers since 1989!) Not only do they have many flavors of ice cream to chose from, but they also serve sundaes, shakes, sorbets, ice cream cakes, banana splits, waffle cones, and other cool treats! They even have "pup" cream for your furry friends! There was a drive thru which is super convenient, but we just walked up to the window and we're assisted by a pleasant girl who was personable and served us quickly! The service and ice cream are always good just very pricey! The wife and kids love this place. If it was up to them, they would eat here once a week. High-quality ingredients are used and you can tell the difference. This is not that Dairy Queen ice cream...lol It's super rich and creamy. I always get an oreo blast. My wife go crazy for their butter pecan ice cream. This location is off the beaten path, so you may want to opt for another. But to tell the truth, all the locations seem tucked away. Bruster's locations are growing fewer and fewer in this area, but this Mechanicsville location doesn't look to be going anywhere! This location offers drive-thru and walk up window. They can get pretty busy in the evening, so expect to wait. Run by local high school kids, so tip them if you can! Key lime pie ice cream is my FAVORITE seasonal flavor. (The reason for 4, & not 5 stars) - There was one customer being served ahead of me when I arrived, so I had to wait. Not a big deal, except there was a second person who appeared from somewhere in the back room. He looked around for a moment, then returned to the room without helping. I visited this store several times. The teenagers really need training. There is no adult supervision. They did not know to follow SOP or even bother to look at the pictures/posters. The first time I asked for Ice Cream sandwiches, the drive through girls asked me to come back later when the manager is back. Apparently, they don't know how to. We explained to them how to and tell them it's easy to made. After waiting in drive-through 30 minutes, they came back with MIXED-flavor andwiches with ice cream dripping out of sleeves. We asked for Vanilla only. We still tipped them well for trying. Today, I decided to walk to the window to see if it's better. There were several teenages boys playing around and pushing each other. I asked two sleeves of ice cream sandwiches. The sandwiches they made are really disasters. 4 out of 6 in one sleeve look like real Oreo cookies ONLY with bare amount of ice cream. They were rattling in the sleeve. They were half size comparing to the other 2 (the normal size). I asked the boy to fill them like the regular size. He looked at me and mubbled. He walked to the freezer and grasp a ball of ice cream with his hands to squeeze into the cookies. This really upset me. There are SOPs to follow. But none of them were. I have been other Bruster's stores. None of these situations happened . My experience with this store is really disappointing. read more

Went to Bruster's for the first time this year. Serving sizes were reduced from last year. The vanilla ice cream tasted old and had ice crystal in it. Very little chocolate sauce on it either. My family loves Bruster's! I will say, however, we did receive their usual great service and product last night b/c they were training. When I called today, the manager called back as soon as she got in & offered us a gift card, that more than covered the initial problem. So I have to give a shout out to Kassie for making it right for your customers! I sat at the drive thru speaker for 5 minutes without any service, I pulled forward to the window and also did not receive any service. Took the family there after a soccer game. I ordered a waffle cone which was very soggy - well maybe not soggy, but un-crisp. Part of the reason for ordering a cone is the crunchiness next to the smooth ice cream. My son ordered a cone also and his looked similar. In addition, there was a $1.89 charge for a cup of tap water - before tax. This seems absurd. Charge enough to cover the slight cost for making the ice and the cup, but this is too much. Lastly, I couldn't decide between two flavors. After asking about the make up and taste of both, I wasn't offered a sample. Now, I didn't really think of it til afterwards, but it might have helped. Terrible location. I'm used to Bruster's running out of our preferred flavor and I can understand that that happens sometimes. But today I stopped at this location to get three shakes. I had to repeat my order to the girl at the speaker several times before she finally repeated it back to me and told me to drive around. I sat in the drive through line through two other people receiving their order and when it was finally our turn she told me that they were out of the two of the three flavors we ordered. Why didn't she tell me that while I was ordering? I can appreciate that there are young kids working here but they need to be trained better. read more

The Nathan's hot dogs and fries are the best. Whenever I have a Nathan's hot dog craving and I don't want to buy 8 pack of hot dogs and buns I come here. The staff here are great and the food comes out the way I expect. The hot dogs are to the standards of a Nathan's chain and so are the thick crinkle fries. The Bruster's at 8309 Bell Creek Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116 is selling a product that in my opinion is definitely not a Nathan's Famous Frankfurter! I purchased two yesterday at $3.00 each (Sum $6) and was highly disappointed. The dogs were not the correct length, nor width, the casings were not the correct color, nor did they have the correct snap, and the flavor was way off. The Dog (It's not a Frankfurter) could have easily been purchased at a convenience store like 7Eleven for less than half the cost for one third and about $2 if I were purchasing two. I also could have gone to Costco to get a 1/4 pound Hebrew National and 16 oz fountain drink for sum $1.50 if I knew I was going to be robbed by Brewsters. I grew up in Brooklyn and have eaten Nathan's from Coney Island literally hundreds of times, I frequent NYC regularly and eat at other Nathan's franchises, and I also eat packaged Nathan's at home and I'm certain that I was given another product yesterday, These dogs didn't even come close to tasting like Nathans. They tasted like the bullshit hot dogs you get from a gas station. Please investigate and get this location rectified before someone sues for false advertisement. Anyone that knows what Nathan's tastes like will know the difference, and anyone eating the dogs at the Bell Creek Bruster's for the first time will not understand why Nathan's is a brand to care about. read more
