As an ice cream fan & New Englander, I was so excited to see a place in Richmond with Cremees! Spotty dog did NOT disappoint. I ordered the strawberry soft serve and love how it was extremely creamy with notes of strawberry but moreso a vanilla base. I tried a lot of innovative flavors, including the maple mellow, which was incredible, but nothing can compare to soft serve for me, which is what I'm so happy I got.

Nothing better than ice cream (especially during National Ice Cream Month). I absolutely love the creemees at Spotty Dog. They only offer them on weekends. My fiancé's best friend lives in VT and we first fell in love with them there. It's so nice to have a spot in Richmond that offers them. This charming ice cream parlor in Church Hill is great for an ice cream fix. I've only tried their vegan oreo, salty chocolate chip cookie and vanilla flavors in traditional ice cream. Their ice creams are on the lighter side. I find that I much prefer their creemees with add-ons! Locals love this spot so the wait can take a bit sometimes. I love that there is plenty of indoor seating and a couple benches outside to enjoy your ice cream at. I love the light wooden seating interior. The people who work here are quite sweet too. I'd recommend coming on a weekend to try their creemee!

10/10 amazing every single time! Whether you get ice cream, a milkshake, or a creamee (Vermont style soft serve), you can't go wrong. Recently went during St. Patrick's weekend and they featured a strawberry vanilla twist creamee with lucky charms...it was super creamy, rich, yet light. The lucky charms were nostalgic and delicious as a festive topping :) love Spotty Dog!

As some of Church Hill's newest residents, my fiance and I have spent far more time and money at Spotty Dog than I would like to admit - but I don't regret it at all :) A classic and walkable neighborhood ice cream spot that feels very homey, approachable, and fairly priced whether you're getting a singe serving or a pint to go. They change up the flavors enough that you are kept on your toes but also keep their classics on-board whenever you feel like you need to dive into something more reliable. I appreciate the weekend inclusion of soft serve and the occassional concrete-adjacent "cup-sundae" (see pictures). Staff are always so welcoming + efficient, and every flavor is fantastic. Special shoutouts to the Movie Nite, S'mores Redux, What the Fluff, Banana Puddin', and the grand daddy of them all - Malted Madagascar Vanilla, a shockingly unique, yet simple, flavor I have grown to absolutely love. Plus the doggie window is a great and well-appreciated addition - as are the loyalty cards, which I will likely fill up multiple per year!

A girl can only take so much of this Richmond heat before she needs to take matters into her own hands! I had heard good things about this "New England" style ice cream shop, and being from New England, I had to try it. It's located in a cool little neighborhood with ample street parking. Their flavors are pretty unique and I was able to taste several of them. The girl scooping the ice cream gave me some recommendations, so I opted for a small cup of malted Madagascar vanilla and cappuccino biscotti. The ice cream was super creamy and flavorful, definitely a winner from this self proclaimed ice cream afficionado. On weekends, they also have soft serve "creemees", which I'll have to come back and try. This is one of the best ice cream shops I've found in Richmond.

I wish I came here sooner! It was such a lovely experience and felt like the neighborhood ice cream shop. It's quaint with limited seating. The employees were extremely welcoming, patient, and took extra care when we mentioned a nut allergy, even though it was a busy Friday night with a line out the door. They have New England style ice cream and Vermont style soft serve aka creemees only on weekends. Both styles have more fat content, making them creamier. They have pretty unique flavors. The cinnamon creemee tasted like cinnamon toast crunch milk. The movie nite is buttered popcorn flavored ice cream with buncha crunch and caramel - it was sweet and salty and had lots of texture. We're excited to try other flavors!

The staff were very welcoming and allowed samples of the flavors. They were able to make a cup of late night coffee. There are plenty of dietary options available such as vegan, dairy free, and gluten-free flavors. The space is super clean and decorated well for the holidays. They had holiday plants for sale. Great space and will return again.

The cutest spot with amazing ice cream! I got the banana pudding flavor and it was AMAZING. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. The staff was kind and the place was spotless. Very chill and summery atmosphere.

I've been following this place a few weeks and couldn't wait to make a visit. The nor'easter was the reason I was so attracted to it but they were out today. She made me the equivalent of the Butterfinger nor'easter, as pregnancy cravings hit hard for this one. The place was really cute and clean. The two ladies were super nice and friendly!

Made a bold decision to drop by on a frigid Tuesday evening but Spotty Dog did not disappoint one bit! I tried the salted chocolate chip cookie which consists of creamy decadent vanilla ice cream with hefty chunks of salty chocolate chip cookie. Basically an inverted ice cream sammy but the ice cream is rich and the cookies are tastefully balanced with sweet and salty goodness. On top of the mouthwatering ice cream, the interior is super cute, clean and minimal and service was as sweet as the ice cream itself. Whether it's a scorching hot summer day or a snowy frigid winter night, Spotty Dog is 100% a must-try!

Absolutely delicious! I got the triple chocolate fudge with extra fudge and a scoop of vanilla and banana ice cream--both were absolutely perfect. Rich, decadent, and perfectly balanced. The staff were super friendly, the place was clean, and there was plenty of space to sit and enjoy. Highly recommend for any dessert lover!

A top contender for best ice cream in RVA-- Spotty Dog has inventive new and exciting flavor combos that you wouldn't see at a regular chain. My favorite topping was potato chips on a Vermont Creamie! The s'mores was also a big favorite as well. Though the flavors rotate pretty often, it's almost always guaranteed that you'll enjoy something, and can count on the staff to be extra-kind to you. My one complaint is probably parking, since it's in Church Hill and doesn't have much more than street parking. as a result of being so popular, the line can be long as well. Worth the wait.

First time here and my fiancé and I definitely enjoyed it! The banana pudding was very tasty! I got the s'mores which is what is pictured and you can definitely taste the pieces of marshmallows there can be a bit of a line but it's the summer so I don't expect anything less! The only thing I recommend is if they had what was in each flavor because I felt like I was holding up the line asking about each flavor.
