    S'mores chocolate cookie
    Mel S.

This place is so cute! First thing I noticed when I walked in was how the staff interacted with customers who were already in the store when I arrived. They were so sweet and friendly, it gave me a community oriented feel right off the bat. And wow they have so many options! They do give free samples thank goodness, if you're having trouble deciding. But they also have conveniently put on their menu their most popular flavors. I know that's something that I always wonder when I'm going to a new place, so it was nice to see that it was already up there! I landed on the cookie dough ice cream, which was DELICIOUS. And noticed that they had a cabinet full of cake slices and cookies. Had to take home the chocolate s'mores cookie. Tried that and it is incredible! The cafe has a cute almost vintage diner feel. With plenty of seating, it's a decent sized space. And I love that they have a lot of window seating, so you could sit and eat your treats and watch people walk by. Cute (sweet) spot!

I got a single scoop of the Cherry and cream ($6). It was a very good flavor and the cherry in the ice cream was sweet. Staff were very friendly and let us sample the different flavors. It was a little more pricier and slightly smaller compared to other ice cream shops. Overall still a good ice cream place just a little on the expensive side. This is a really nice spot to satisfy an after day sweet craving. The ambiance is nice and very clean and the staff were really nice and welcoming. Small downside would be the flavors that weren't ready....and nobody knew when they would be. Although slightly pricey, I'd definitely return next time I'm in VA.

Their Cookie Cookie ice cream is deeeelightful. Be warned: it will dye your entire mouth bright blue, but it's worth it! I've been on such an ice cream kick lately (summer and all), and we had dinner down the street from Sweet Spot so it seemed like the perfect time to pop in. They are open late, which is great, and it was busy inside. We were helped pretty quickly, and the prices were reasonable. It was clean inside too with lots of window stools for dining in. In addition to a boatload of ice cream options, they also carry baked goods from Shyndigz.

I ordered the hot cocoa and the lady looked at her co-worker and asked her if she wanted to make it, her co-worker said sure. Then after the co-worker walked to the machine, she said nah I don't want to make it. She then told me they weren't making any hot drinks at the moment...then when I asked if they only make hot drinks seasonally or during certain hours of the day, I was told that I could get hot tea and that she doesn't make hot cocoa often and didn't want to mess it up. There were 3 female employees up front. There is no way none of the them knew how to make a hot coca. I believe they just didn't feel like cleaning the machine after. If they truly don't know how (which I doubt), they need to be taught how to make everything on the menu. Very disappointing experience.

Thursday 3/21/2024 This is an ice cream store that also sells a variety of baked goods so it really is a sweet spot. For the ice cream, I sampled the cookies n cream and special praline but ending up going with a large cup of cookies n cream $7.25. For the baked goods, I got an original OG cinnamon roll $9 and a carrot cake slice $9. After taxes my total nearly ended up at $30 which I still can't get used to. - cookies n cream ice cream * not the best ice cream I've had but it's decent. - original OG cinnamon roll * 2 words to describe this would be: DISAPPOINTING & OVERPRICED * the roll was hard & stale and the portion you get is laughable. - carrot cake slice * it was alright: not terrible carrot cake but definitely no where near the best. Overall, the ice cream is a solid choice but the baked goods failed miserably. This is a spot that I can't see myself willingly coming back to in all honesty.

I have a sweet tooth and the Sweet Spot is a great place to treat myself. They had endless ice cream flavor options that include classic flavors along with speciality flavors like Gold Mine or Hawaiian Fruit Cup. There is also plenty of vegan ice cream flavors. Top your scoops with any of their toppings like sprinkles, fruit, hot fudge, whipped cream and more! They have more than just ice cream, the Sweet Spot serves desserts from Shyndigz so you can get a delicious piece of Fresh Fruit Cake, Carrot Cake, Salted Chocolate Caramel Cake and numerous more. Pies, cookies, brownies, and cheesecake are in supply as well. You can order ahead of time for pick up or you can find street parking nearby. There are a few tables inside and quite a few seating options outdoors near the Sweet Spot so you can enjoy your treat in the beautiful fresh air, either on your own or with some friends.

This ice cream shop has metered street parking on the street in front of it. the serve ice cream scoops and cones, banana splits, brownie Sundaes, cookie sundaes, smoothies, cakes, cookies, drinks, and frappes. The place was very clean, tidy and trendy. They have bar seating along the walls and overlooking the sidewalk through the front window. There is also a few benches on the sidewalk out front that you can sit and eat your treat. They have a television playing inside and hip music playing throughout the shop. The staff was helpful and friendly enough, but I did have limited interaction with them though. The shop has a very exotic selection of cones including orange creamsicle, birthday cake, dark chocolate, lavender, red velvet and salted blue corn. I wanted a banana split, but was served a big scoop of disappointment when I was told they did not have any bananas. So opted to go with a two-scoop sundae with walnuts, whip cream and caramel. It was not the best ice cream that I have had, but it was good. This is a nice place to get you a frozen treat. They have a constant flow of people going through there and keep busy. They are definitely worth a visit.

*** UNLIMITED SAMPLES *** try everything, they have SO MANY VEGAN OPTIONS !!! What a delightful surprise to discover this very cute ice cream parlor with rows of vegan buckets. My kids were thrilled to bits to be treated to a wholesome stack of coconut &/or soy cream ice cream and the price was just right. we love the refreshing ambience of the place and the 80s jams playing on the speakers. Special shout out Ashley for her enthusiasm, beautiful smile and perfect attention to detail in scooping and serving the deliciousness. Yes: vegan friendly Yes: kid friendly

    Small, one scoop sundae $6
    Lisa G.

Stopped in for a one-scoop sundae $6, which comes with 1 topping, drizzle, whipped cream and a cherry. I chose the Mack Daddy Coconut ice cream, and Oh. Em. Gee! Sooooooo delicious! Small for $6, but very tasty. I also got an oatmeal cream pie to go. That thang is huge. With a huge price of $8. WTF?! It was good, but not as good as the Whisk oatmeal cream pie, or even Stella's. Or even Shyndigz. And all of theirs are cheaper. Contemporary decor. Nice, young staff. I'm never in The Bottom, so I doubt I make a special trip to come here for sweets, but that Mack Daddy Coconut sure is good. Mmmm.

You can't miss it. Step inside and the corner location pays off -- gorgeous afternoon light pouring through a row of vintage stained glass set above the front windows, throwing color all over the pink-and-white interior. Chandelier with little fabric shades, topiary along the ledge, counter seating to watch the street. Charming spot. One small heads-up: the menu is a digital screen, and it wasn't working when I visited -- so you're ordering a bit blind, leaning on the bakery case and whatever the staff can tell you. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing going in. And you're really here for the baked goods, which hold up. The kouign-amann was the standout -- deeply caramelized, lacquered, shatteringly flaky with that signature sugar crust. I also grabbed two macarons (a berry-pink one and a teal with chocolate filling) that were exactly right: crisp shell, chewy center, generous filling. No complaints. The case is stocked with range -- lemon bars, quiche, chocolate cherry walnut cookies, confetti sandwich cookies, Florentines, a vegan peanut butter option, pineapple upside-down, and more. Plenty of GF and vegan labeling, which is nice to see. You can watch them pulling fresh trays from the proofer behind the counter. A few other notes: it's a small operation, so selection depends on what's come out of the oven that day, and the working area behind the counter is tight and a little cluttered (charming, but not polished). Corner parking is street-only and that intersection gets busy. Bottom line -- a genuinely good Richmond bakery with real pastry chops and a beautiful corner space. Get the kouign-amann before they sell out.

Free off street parking is plentiful. There is good signage. It's now a take out only establishment since Covid. Two table are available for outdoor seating. Most customers took their orders and walked away. I visited them on a Sunday afternoon just after St. John's let out. It's just one block away and the church Patrick Henry gave a speech. There were a lot of church goers enjoying the business. Proper has a menu in the window to guide customers on choices of savory, or sweet. I wanted one of each. The man at the window was great in providing recommendations. I ordered the steak and cheese as well as the Banoffee. The preparation is already done and the man with assistant moved quickly to complete my order. I enjoyed my treats at their outdoor table and also enjoyed conversation with locals. I started with the steak & cheese which was loaded with meat and cheese. DELICIOUS! Then onto the Banoffee which smelled heavenly of cocoa. Another home run! I love bananas and if you do too this will be enjoyable. So glad I found them open on my visit. There hours are very good, but I have missed them in the Summer before on vacation. Just go, no brainer.

Still a winner but watch out because the price can sneak up on you if you order faster than you…read moreeat. Reservations made well in advance is a must unless you're going at less popular times. Unfortunately parking is always a challenge because of reserved parking so plan ahead and come early if I have a reservation. Lots of steps leading up into the building but there is a ramp for handicap access. Kids were in town so we were visiting all our favorite places. Blue Atlas tapas style variety is always a hit with us. The only disappointment this time was the Elote dumplings. They were basically just corn gnocchi. Not a terrible flavor, but wouldn't bother ordering again. We started with some pretty fun cocktails, and a highlighted wine which I wish I could remember the name of...i think it started with N...It was a light bodied wine with mild floral notes, and a Prosecco feel without the bubbly that went perfect with all the plates. For cocktails, we got tea ceremony, la Siesta, Nicolada. I loved la Siesta and Tea ceremony for their uniqueness and smooth delivery. My son has a sweet tooth for cocktails, which the Nicolada fit but probably a little too sweet for me. For food we got the ever reliable pork belly Bao buns -a bit on the pricey side when you have to order extra to serve a table of four at $6 each, Next the aforementioned elote dumplings, -tacos de trucha which was good but not my favorite, -hanger steak, -Malaysian fried chicken - delicious and a good deal, -shish Barak; unique, and very tasty, -Vietnamese prawn toast, which was delicious , - -steamed mussels- good and enjoyed by most, and the -tortilla Española; solid but underwhelming compared to everything else. Also ordered the Brie special with toast that I loved but some of us got part of the rind which there was a lot of so wasn't as enjoyable for them but the flavors were there. Would've liked a few more heavy protein options but this did not affect our enjoyment of the meal. The hanger steak exceeded my expectations. I'm not always up for steak, but this was done perfectly and well accompanied with a marinated summer squash, cherry tomatoes, and pickled peppers. For dessert we got the ice cream sandwich and the chocolate banoffee budino. They were all out of the Black Forest meringue, so unfortunately, we could not try that. The ice cream sandwiches were a hearty serving and enjoyed by everyone at the table, but I thought the banoffee budino was the best. Unique and very tasty. Would have ordered one to have by myself if I wasn't so full lol.
