4.5 stars. Bruster's Real Ice Cream has a couple hundred independently owned locations in a couple dozen states across the country (and also in Guyana!). This particular Bruster's is in Ross Township. My husband and I were customers here one time. It was a hot, sunny day, and we were driving by when we saw a sign for new flavors of ice creams, so obviously we had to pull our vehicle over. The menu listed a couple dozen flavors of ice creams (including some non-dairy and vegan), waffle cones, waffle bowls, to-go containers, sundaes, shakes, blasts, Italian ices, sherbets, pies, and cakes. We stood in line for a reasonable time, and then an employee kindly greeted us and took our order and payment. She had to look up the price for the new flavors. She quickly scooped our ice creams into cones and handed them over. Some outdoor seating was available, but we ate in our vehicle in the parking lot. I rate my Pineapple Upside Down Cake ice cream in a waffle cone as 5 stars. It contained cherries and pineapple and actual chunks of cake. My husband enjoyed his Gooey Butter Cake ice cream in a waffle cone. It contained vanilla-cheesecake ice cream with butter cake pieces, butterscotch, and caramel. Needed a little pick me up yesterday afternoon and decided to stop by Brusters to try one of their new flavors. I had gotten an email and was dying to try the ooey gooey cake. We were surprised at the giant chunks of cake that were in the ice cream. I especially liked the ooey gooey goodness. Next time, I'd like to try the pineapple upside down cake. The picture looks really good. My husband's chocolate peanut butter was very good and had tons of giant bands of peanut butter in it. You can't go wrong with Brusters. read more

One thing about me is I love ice cream. And Bruster's flavors are second to none! Graham central station is the best, and I've gotten into a new habit of doing a sundae with hot fudge using it as a base. My own delicious version of s'mores! It's such a nice treat to go grab some ice cream and sit in the sitting area. And the staff couldn't be faster or nicer. One of these days, I want to do the BYO-Banana split. This place is incredible. I always have enjoyed brusters, but this location is the best. The kids that work here are so kind and work so well together. They were rocking a line 20 some people deep last night and had smiles on their faces the whole time. I told the girl that helped us that they were doing a great job and she looked like she was gonna cry because I said that. But they do deserve to hear it. Keep being awesome! Wow really good ice cream! They give huge scoops here, we were shocked at the large cake cone, the ice cream was stacked three scoops high and so tall it was ready to fall over. Really rich and good flavors, the peanut butter chocolate is filled Jahr peanut butter lines and tons of mini buckeyes. We stopped last night to get an Apple Dumpling to-go and it did not disappoint! I chose to get the Caramel Apple Crunch ice cream on top which was a delicious bonus. We got a pint of Graham Central Station as well - another one of my favorites. I like that this Bruster's always has a solid selection of ice cream flavors, and they almost always have my two favorites (PB Buckeye and Graham Central Station). My only complaint is that they closed a little early in the summer - like before the sun set some days. I was unfortunately the last in line a month or two ago when they told us that we were the last customers and they weren't serving anyone else! I'd be bummed if I turned into the parking lot seeing the long line of people, just to be told I couldn't get in line too. What can I say more than, every time I visit this ice cream location I am filled with delicious joy. When on the way to Bruster's Ice Cream, at times I actually feel like a kid again going out for the local treat. Purchasing REAL ice cream w/out the fillers and chemicals that most of the grocery chains sell is always well worth it. Does it cost a little more? SURE, YES! But the taste is beyond compare with other brands, and it's a delicacy well worth treating yourself to now and then. The best of comfort food when your down and a great recognition reward during a celebration. If you have never been to a Bruster's, shame on you! Be kinder to yourself and get to one soon, you'll be grateful for the gourmet experience. (Note: They have many flavors, some seem to change. My guess is the list usually looks like about 12+ are posted. The have cones, ice cream cakes, sundaes, etc.) Oh! In addition, let me brag about the service at this location. The staff is top notch, friendly, hard working, quick and helpful. The area is clean, has some rather nice outside seating, and plenty of parking too. BTW, make sure you check around as at times you may find some really generous coupons to use (actual real BOGO ones where you buy one and get one!) and you can earn points with their free membership rewards programs if you ask. Enjoy your spring and summer there, as well as autumn and winter at this location. Perhaps we will bump into each other there during one of the gatherings of strangers all happily licking their ice cream, socializing and making new ice cream buddies. Cheers! I always forget about this Bruster's location. It's not really convenient to much and is kind of at a weird locale in general. Perhaps this contributes to the fewer crowds here which is fine by me. My husband and I stopped around 8pm on a warm weeknight. We were able to walk right up and get served. A long line did start forming around 8:30pm when we left. It seemed like they had fewer flavors than the Ingomar location. I also thought the cup portions were smaller. Better for your waistline but not for when you actually want to indulge. The small waffle cone my husband got was huge. Both items (that plus a small cup) totaled $7 and change-an unheard of price where we live but a very fair price for what you receive. I'd definitely try to keep this location in mind for the future especially if heading back to my parents from downtown Pittsburgh. read more

This is one of our go-tos after a visit to North Park. Our dogs get pup cups and we usually indulge in 2 scoops of ice cream each. You can hardly go wrong with Brusters with the amount you received compared to the price. I called yesterday, July 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. to order a 9-inch mint chocolate chip ice cream pie with a happy birthday inscription on top (the same pie I've ordered from here the past 10-plus years). The girl asked when I wanted to pick it up, and I told her "late afternoon tomorrow when I get off work". She told me it's a special order because I requested mint chocolate chip with inscription, so they need 24-48 hours to make it. She offered to set aside one of their "standard pre-made ice cream pies", but otherwise they need 24-48 hours to make it. I said, well, "late tomorrow afternoon" is longer than 24 hours. She mentioned nothing about being short-staffed. I hung up and called another Bruster's with the same request, and they said, "No problem, it'll be ready to pick up at 1:30." Not what it used to be... it's not worth it anymore. The workers are not friendly whatsoever. The queue lacks organization. The portions are minuscule. It got extremely pricy. The ice cream doesn't taste like it used to when I was a kid. It's No longer my go to place for ice cream. read more

I am obsessed with Bruster's Ice Cream (especially the flavor graham central station) and this location never disappoints! They always have a variety of flavors and all of the staff are always super friendly. The hardest part is the location - if you can pull into the beer distributor next door and walk along that path, it will make your life so much easier getting out of the parking lot. read more

Ordered a cup of the non dairy ice cream tonight and gave it back to the girl behind the counter. It was runny and odd tasting. She said she was going to check the date it was made. She offered me something else in its place so I ordered the cappuccino ice cream. My boyfriend ordered the same and we both thought it tasted awful. I do not recommend this place. read more

I love ICE CREAM!!! Bruster's has a great selection of delicious homemade ice cream. They use real ingredients and have different kinds every day. I love the mint chocolate chip, raspberry chocolate, and double chocoalte chunk. Milkshakes - they will make you any kind of milkshake that you want. You can use any of the flavors and fruit that you want. The employees are always friendly and courteous. A couple items to note: 1. Bruster's offers doggy dishes for our furry friends. Small scoop of vanilla ice cream with a dog bone. Free with purchase. 2. They have a frequent visitor card that is free. 3. If you take anything to go they will separate the ice cream and the toppings such as hot fudge. 4. They offer a day camp in the summer that shows the children how to make ice cream. I do beleive their ice cream is a bit pricey. I am willing to spend the extra money for great tasting ice cream. Love ICE CREAM!!! read more

I had a coupon for BOGO waffle cones. I usually only go to Bruster's when I have a coupon since ice cream is expensive! I had the birthday cake cone and my daughter had the chocolate chip cookie dough. The waffle cones are made on site, and are delicious. Crunchy and not too sweet. The birthday cake was pretty good. It is creamy and had chunks of vanilla cake and sprinkles. Never too old for cake! The only thing bad about this location is pulling out of the lot. read more

Portions sizes are generous and though a little pricey, it is worth it, especially when you use the rewards program and coupons. I have been visiting this Bruster's a few times a year for quite some time. Brusters isn't my favorite place but if the desire strikes for ice cream and we are driving by this one, we'll stop. If I had reviewed this location 3 months ago it would have gotten 4 stars. If I had never eaten there before the last 3 months It would have gotten 2. I like the variety of flavors and the staff here tend to be quite friendly. The free puppy-sundaes are fantastic (and a major draw for me). I typically just get a waffle cone but occasionally get a kids dino sundae and rarely a shake. I have always been pleased with the flavors and textures--not wowed but they are worth going back for another taste. The last visit was absolutely disappointing and the one before was just mediocre. The staff had changed from the typical summer staff to their fall staff. I ordered a regular sized mint chocolate chip milkshake. I saw the employee dish out some mint chocolate chip ice cream into a cup and then proceed to put the cup into the MICROWAVE for at least 20 seconds!!! I was a little confused and glanced over to their milkshake machine--it was the style I used for years when I worked in an ice cream store and we were told STRICTLY to not use the hard ice cream because the motor coudln't handle it. She took my "ice cream" (aka mint milk) out of the microwave and added probably close to a cup of milk before putting it on the milk shake machine to mix. When I got my milk shake it was DISGUSTING! it was like mint flavored milk--there was NO thickness, no frosty-ness, no remnants of ice cream--I probably could have sipped it through a coffee stirrer. It was so thin that ALL the chips sunk to the bottom by the time I got the cup (in a properly thick shake, some chips will sink by the end but it's not a full 1/2 cup of chocolat chips sitting at the bottom immediately after being served the drink). I felt bad complaining because the woman who made it was very nice and seemed to have some mobility issues so I just left and tossed the shake after a few yucky sips (i poured it out and that's how I discovered all the chocolate chips stuck to the bottom). It was irritating to spend nearly $5 on a cup of mint milk--YUCK! I can say with certainty that I will NOT be going to this Bruster's again ESPECIALLY if I have a hankering for a milkshake--at least not until the summer staff comes back because I have had decent milkshakes there in the past. read more
