One of our favorite flavors is the chocolate raspberry truffle so when I saw that on the menu, I had to stop even though we have a ton of snow on the ground. The drive-through makes it so convenient. You don't have to get out of your warm car if you go through the drive through, which is so convenient and dangerous because it makes it so easy to get your ice cream fix.l! I had a really disappointing experience at Meadows in Monroeville. The ice cream tasted off -- definitely not fresh and nowhere near the quality I expected. To make things worse, the service was unfriendly. The employee who helped us, was rude and dismissive, which made the whole visit uncomfortable. I won't be coming back anytime soon. The person taking the order was pleasant. For a banana split and a sundae cup, it came up to be $16 rounded. They had a drive thru which I loved and the service was quick. The location decor seems simple and clean. The only complaint that I have was whatever they put on top on my ice cream was disgusting. I don't know what it was, if it was a topping or what. The workers were so so sweet, and our order came out fast. First time having frozen custard and honestly... i'm not sure if I can go back plain old soft serve ice cream again! It was so creamy and smooth and I deeply regret not getting a larger size. The building itself is decorated so nicely, it has a sweet summery vibe to it that makes it an easy choice to stay in and enjoy your cold treats. I tend to be sensitive to noises, so in my personal opinion it was a little overstimulating and I bit hard to share a conversation with the person across from you (however, it was a very hot day and business was busy). Learned of this place almost by accident, although I've passed it numerous times without even realizing it was there. It was recommended by the mother of a schoolmate of my son. Root beer milkshake. Holy cow delicious! My son really enjoyed his large waffle cone vanilla custard with sprinkles. The long line of cars in the drive thru speaks for this sweet spot. Love this Meadows! The drive thru line usually backs up pretty good, so I would suggest going into the store to order ice cream. There's tables indoors and in front of the shop. Their prices are competitive with other local o e cream shops. The ice cream flavor itself tastes better than other soft serve locations. Well I finally was able to make it out here. Located on Northern Pike near the PA turnpike exit in Monroeville the Meadows is both an ice cream and custard store. They serve 4 custards daily and alternate two each day. The standard two on the menu are vanilla and chocolate. On the day of my visit they had as a custard white raspberry truffle. Two scoops was just enough for me since it was very filling and delicious! They also have a drive through and they do fund raisers to boot. In additions to cones and cups they carry the usual ice cream fare such as Sundaes and shakes. You can even purchase quarts or pints from their daily flavors. I was looking in their see through glass and saw a beautiful cake. The lady told me it was a custard cake. It is made with two layers of vanilla custard, a layer of rich chocolate cake with a creamy fudge center. Custom made orders require 72 hour advance notice. This is a wonderful alternative to ice cream and I was fortunate to pick up a daily menu for the month of April for a return visit. I don' t get to Monroeville often but when I do this is the place I will most definitely try for more of their delicious custard. read more

Be advised if you eat at this establishment be prepared to have your food prepared in unsanitary conditions. I went there two nights ago and ordered a frozen yogurt sugar-free small in a cone. There was a teenage girl working there who took my order and told me the yogurt machine was not ready so I waited in the drive-through. While I waited I watched through the window I noticed she had no gloves on and kept scratching her face and touching the top of the cone with her hands after scratching her face. There was an older heavyset woman leaning over the counter and eating the toppings right out of the tray with no gloves on the same toppings that she would reach in and put on your yogurt. I knocked on the window and told the older women I do not want the cone and to please just put my yogurt in a cup. She then put the contaminated cone on top of my cup anyway. I threw it away and did not eat it. Yesterday I called the manager and spoke with him he said this is not been the first time this is happened but he did not say he was gonna do anything about it either. So I called the Allegheny County health inspector and filed a complaint with them for them to go out and reinspect this establishment. Please please please please for your own safety and that of your family be very careful if you decide to be a patron in this establishment. read more

We usually like the Meadows but this will be our last visit. We ordered a single scoop in a cup and this is what we got. The server said that the girl that made it accidentally put in 2 scoops and had to take one out. It looks half eaten! And it was expensive for the small amount. I know it must be hard to hire for a small ice cream shop but can't you find some reliable Gateway students to have some customer service skills?!? The high school is right down the damn road!!! I went today and paid $25 for the equivalent of two blizzards (Oreo and snickers) and some ice cream sandwiches. They are so over blended that the Oreo looked like chocolate custard. I ordered the initially unwanted sandwiches because our "arctic swirls" looked so dismal. I understand that even a high school student could mess that up but the way we weren't greeted and made to feel as if we were insulting them by ordering is beyond me. The two older ladies looked as pathetic as having a job at an ice cream shop. It's pathetic. If that's what your life has stooped to at least be the best you can be. They were by far the rudest most disgusting pieces of trash imaginable to operate your business. I'd prefer high school students, at least they would have an excuse because they're young and naive. I discovered this cozy custard on a drive in the neighborhood and was happy to find. Their yogurts are fresh and it is refreshing to get a variety of flavors throughout the month. However, on a typical Friday Meadows rewards night with my grandkids in a pint of cherry vanilla (our favorite) we noticed a long strand of hair. Unfortunately, my 4 year old granddaughter showed and threw to the floor before I could take a picture of it. In her words, 'disgusting'! Not sure what the difference is between custard and regular ice cream is, but their custard is pretty good! Prices seem reasonable for the quantity you receive. I normally get the small waffle cone and it is really quite large. My dad enjoyed his strawberry milkshake. I've never had any issues at this location and it always appears to be clean inside and out. We do love our frozen custard, so since we were near this place we had to check it out. Let's not mention that it was over 90 degrees. I was surprised that there wasn't more people in here. We had a couple minutes to examine the menu which is up on the wall, not the most descriptive menu so we were asking the lady at the register questions about it. We went with a cherry gelati (custard and Italian ice together) and a turtle sundae. I liked the fact that they had sugar free and lofat options for the no extra cost. I always go with sugar free if available and it was indeed a creamy and tasty frozen custard. Not sure if I would go with the turtle again, it was super sweet. We will be back though. Any place that serves custard automatically gets a lot of stars. You can't beat the creaminess. I ordered a Medium Cookies & Cream. It had been a scorcher of a day. We were watching a baseball tournament for 14 year old boys. It was so hot that sitting in the bleachers felt like you were in a frying pan. . It was wonderful to walk into this creamery where it felt like a winter wonderland. . I could have sat there for hours. The employees were very nice. The place so extremely clean. My only disappointment was the small offering of flavors. The Cookies & Cream was smooth and creamy. It was a great frozen treat for such a hot day. I would definitely go back to try other flavors. Ahhhh went here after eating at Dad's pub and grub....and they are super good only thing that prevents a full score is that the Greensburg location really loads down the cones...but same creamy flavorful ice cream with awesome choices which allow you to mix and match all the options that the establishment has to offer...I love the chipwich here it's two fresh baked chocolate chip cookies with meadows vanilla in between them...such a good snack for a ride home from work....love this place!!!! read more

In Buffalo, there are a ton of yogurt/custard/ice cream stands, so I was surprised that there weren't that many in the Pittsburgh area. I was happy to see The Meadows open up and was excited to try it. I have been there several times now and really enjoy it. They have fresh flavors every day along with staple flavors. My favorite is the birthday cake. A perfect level of sweetness. I wish they had flavor descriptors for some of their cutely named flavors, though. For example, I have no idea what "white house" tastes like or what makes it a "dirty" turtle. If you are going in, it is easy enough to ask, but not as easy if you are using the convenient drive through option. I like that they have a drive through. As a mother of newborn twins, it isn't easy to get into and out of places, but I can grab a treat at the drive through and enjoy it when I get home. I love that convenience factor. They always seem to be well staffed and pretty efficient in serving you. Although some of the staff seemed to not know the menu very well. But I figure that is just because they are a newer place. The one thing I wish they did was update their webpage or facebook page with what their flavors of the day are (or are going to be). Overall, a welcome addition to the eastern suburbs. read more
