My husband and I were looking forward to dining in a non-chain restaurant which is a challenge to find In northern Virginia. The pictures of Brx looked promising. We reserved a table in the dining room . When we arrived at 7:30 , to our surprise, an extremely loud band was playing in the dining room . We were forced to sit in the pub so that we could attempt conversation. This was basically a sports bar with football on multiple TVs. I love to get a lbit dressed up on a Saturday night and the sports bar atmosphere was a tad disappointing. It exacerbated the negative vibe of dining out at a strip mall. Service was good enough (for a sports bar) but nothing special. Overall not a positive experience. Food was good but not great. We used to love Brix! Our weekly go-to. Understand new ownership needed some time to figure things out. I could not be more disappointed time and time again. Not sure what's going on in the kitchen but it's a miss. Salmon is dry like cardboard. Salads are really just lettuce, lacking the add-ins. Staff is still amazing! Dinner for two last week was perfect! The filet mignon was tastey and cut like butter, the soft shell crabs were crisp and delicious with wonderful gremulata, and the side dishes were perfect. I have lived in Great Falls for over 50 years and it has been hard to find a nice place for Sunday brunch. We have been fans of the BRX pizza place a few doors down since they opened .Best pizza in town and great happy hour. We tried the new BRX brunch last Sunday after church and it was a home run. Our visit to BRX American Bistro was outstanding. Food: We ordered the Crispy Beef Appetizer; and the Louisiana Tagliatelle w/shrimp and the Halibut entrees. All three were cooked perfectly and the flavors were wonderful and unique. The house bread was also excellent. Service: We were treated very professionally and with kindness, especially after we accidentally broke a glass containing our Trophy Wife cocktail. Went to Sunday brunch today and it was one of the best brunches I've had in ages! The avocado toast was fabulous, as was the waffle...and the bacon was incredible!!! My friend had the shrimp and grits and thoroughly enjoyed it. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive and even made coffee special. I am looking forward to going back (probably next week). I can't say enough about the new management and owner of BRX! First off, Valentines menu was superb. Steak cooked to perfection, lobster was buttery and delicious, lobster bisque was off the chain. YES CHEF! Truly enjoyed my first dinner experience this evening at BRX. The cream of mushroom soup with truffle oil was exquisite and the mushroom flat bread with goat cheese is a must. First time dining at this Restaurant with my dad and partner! We were pleasantly surprised by the nice decor as soon as we entered! Very spacious with a lovely bar with tables and booths in the front and a very nice seating area in the back with fireplace and large sliding glass doors that open up to a beautiful patio! Dining inside and out! Started with the delicious beet salad (nice portion) Entree: I had the salmon with rice and artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomato's. Excellent dish, salmon was cooked and seasoned to perfection! My Dad had ravioli with short ribs and meat sauce and my partner had short ribs with veggies! They both enjoyed them their dishes immensely! See photos.. I would have given this restaurant five stars but the service was not good! First they forgot the watermelon salad we ordered and our waiter had some sort of attitude and never came back to see if we needed anything and I also had to wave him down to get the check. The person filling the water glasses, only filled one glass and walked away even as I tried to get her attention to fill the other two, she avoided us the plague! Always heard it just wasn't that good...Well, we decide to go here on a Friday night b/c Old Brogue was too busy. What a MISTAKE!! The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is quite nice....don't let that fool you though. The food is absolutely horrible and totally overpriced. Reviews: - Maple Sriracha Wings - Very good...good flavor and the best thing we had. - Chicken & Shrimp Gumbo- Average at best. Not much flavor. - Seafood Cioppino - Horrible...$32 for a pot of tomato sauce. No seafood flavor and it wasn't a soupy consistency like others. The same horrible tomato sauce as in the kids pasta. Unreal. - Kids Pasta - The kids could not eat it...said the sauce tasted watery. Must be from a bottle b/c it was that tasteless. - bread pudding - very tasty - service- a bit on the slow side but staff was nice and made a good effort We went with another family and the consensus is we will never be back. I want to support local small businesses like BRX but there has to be some redeeming value to do so. Dinner prices are way too high and the food is inedible. I love this little neighborhood place, although the inside is lovely, I still prefer to eat outside during COVID if available, and their patio is quite nice, complete with heaters too! Despite the crowd outside, service was prompt and attentive. Can hardly believe that both the chef and our waiter actually remembered us from a visit in June. Well, a female friend has been asking me to go here for years and I've just never seemed that interested. Finally, another couple friend, along with hubby and I, made it on a Saturday evening around 8:30pm. (They close at 10 on Saturday.) We pull into the parking lot and at first glance from outside, it looks like a super tiny establishment. But boy are looks deceiving. This places is quite large and even has an outside patio in the back (which we didn't make it to at this time.) We walk in and head right to the bar area because that's our favorite place to hangout for food and drinks every where we go. Service is usually quite efficient and on the ball when we sit at a bar. You now have the 4 of us at the bar along with another couple at the far end of the bar. The restaurant tables that we can see have 3 tables with customers. Okay. Not too busy but the ambiance is quite nice and is a bit upscale. We sit down and our first drink was quick and the service was spot on and our bartender was appropriately friendly. Then it started to go downhill from there. Our drinks would run dry...even the waters. At one point, there were 4 people behind the bar area yet our friends beer, sat on tap, a Guinness, for what seems like forever. Yes. Guinness tends to take bit to pour in a glass because of its special whatever (I'm not a beer drinker and I don't pretend to even taste them anymore or know about them). It took soooooo long that we were thinking about finish the pour into the glass ourselves by reaching over and tilting the beer tap to finish the pour. Seriously? Come on. Okay. So,the place isn't packed with customers and the bar staff seems to spend a LOT of time chatting with other customers and cleaning up for closing. Okay. A small break for their customer service skills on, I'm assuming, their regulars. But after several drinks run dry for several minutes and by 'several minutes', I'm talking 15-20 minutes before they even check back in with us. By this time, I'm over this place and want nothing to do with them. But then our friend decide to order some food. They loved, loved, loved their steaks and cannot wait to come back for more! My female friend and I ordered the Hummus Trio which was phenomenal. The delicious food is making up for the painfully slow bar service. Will we be back? Yes. Am I looking forward to the slow service? No. I'm hoping it will improve. Only one way to find out. read more

Really, 3 1/2 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow half stars, and I don't think I can warrant a full four. I enjoyed BRX enough that I would come back sometime, but mostly it seemed like the stereotypical thing you'd expect to find leading into Great Falls -- very self-important and overpriced for what it is. I guess the first sign should've been walking into the restaurant and getting a snooty, "Do you have reservations?" from the hostess. FOR WHAT? THERE ARE THREE OTHER PEOPLE IN THIS ENTIRE HUGE RESTAURANT. CALM DOWN, HOSTESS. It was a little weird to find that some of the things listed in the online menu weren't on the menu in the restaurant. It also seemed a little ridiculous to have $30-40 entrees for the so-so quality of food and the amount you get. I get the feeling this place is more wine bar than restaurant. However, the service was absolutely excellent, and the food was pretty good. I had the falafel burger, which could've used a little more Mediterranean spice and a bit more crunch. But it was pretty good overall, and they have those awesome fries with the crispies on them. The crab cakes were almost all crab, though small. The vegetables looked kind of unappealing and not super fresh. The foccacia bread was the perfect amount of crispy and doughy, and warm. Overall, I feel like maybe if I come here again it would be for lunch to grab a sandwich or something. Just felt like they were trying to be something they aren't otherwise. read more

We came here for our one year anniversary, we didn't want to go anywhere far or overly expensive, so casual was what we wanted. We had a good first experience but definitely not a good second experience. This is what we ordered: Caesar Salad (just like any other caesar salad but was just seemingly more bland and the croutons were stale tasting and not enough dressing - and I normally don't like a ton of dressing on my salad but this one needed it) Filet Mignon (the scallopped potatoes and veggies were good but the filet was very disappointing and the consistency of it did not even taste like a filet) Seafood Cioppino (cioppino means fish stew but this came with linguine and I know this sounds a little weird but the sauce was too sweet!?! I was expecting something robust, rustic and a lot of flavor packed into this dish and I basically just ate the seafood, left all the pasta and avoided eating any of the sauce) Chocolate Volcano Cake (the menu states to order when you order the entree, wow this was so not worth it...I love dessert and I honestly thought the size of this was very small, overpriced and just tasted awful). And our server was so-so. I didn't really care for him and he ruined the whole dining experience especially since it was our anniversary. The one star is for management. The food is very good which is why we made a reservation for New Year's Eve. We had eaten there last year and thought it was a perfect evening. So imagine getting a call last week to have our reservation cancelled because "they had a group" that would be there. We made our reservation early; the group obviously had just made it that week. I realize it was a business decision and understand. What I am upset about is there was no acknowledgement that the management realized this was unfair. No, we will send you a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert next time you come. Just a cancellation. This treatment left a bad taste in our mouths...not good for a restaurant. read more

We visited Brix for brunch again today. I got the housemade corned beef hash with two eggs, home fries, and toast. This time the hash wasn't dry and shriveled up, so I'm thinking the last time was probably just the end of the batch. Today the hash was moist and the pieces were slightly bigger. The hubby said their Belgian waffle is the best. No complaints from my mom about her Eggs Benedict Oscar style - with crabcakes and asparagus. Although, her sense of smell is practically gone, so I wouldn't take my word for it. Everyone enjoyed their meal. On a side note, I saw our waiter making their housemade bloody mary mix. I really like the BRX burger from BRX. You can do a call-ahead order for pickup, and your order will be ready in minutes, typically 12-18 mins, depending on size of your order. They also have specialty salads and other burgers and Sandwhiches. I look forward to trying more entrees from BRX! read more

We have been long time customers of the several restaurants that have occupied this space over the past 20 yrs, Brx being the longest. Brx is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Overall great food, wine, setting, value and service. Our current favorites are sautéed calamari appetizer and short rib ravioli with bolognese sauce and mascarpone. Tuesday is half price bottles of wine and Ash is also a wine retailer so you can take additional bottles home with you. Great local restaurant. read more

The meal at Brx American Bistro was very good in no small measure because our server knew the how each dish was prepared and had a good understanding of wines offered by the glass. When one in our party was not familiar with the whites, our server brought a sample of one most likely to please. It did. The oysters on the half shell were properly prepared, which allowed for slurping, but I prefer other varieties and would not order these again. When a side offered with a main course was not a favorite, Brx was happy to offer a different side. All dishes were well prepared and served piping hot. A two- bite pizza. Then I ordered a Caprese sandwich which was also $15; it looked and tasted like they used the same sprinkle cheese used to make the pizza. We cannot say enough about how good this restaurant was. We hosted a surprise party of about 25 people here last week for a wedding anniversary celebration. The food was phenomenal. The service was perfect. We ordered a whole variety of dishes and each and every person loved there entrees. Chef Sahil went out of his way to take care and provide us with delicious food.
