I was looking for a new optometrist and emailed a few optometrists to see if they were knowledgeable regarding monovision with the use of RGP contact lenses. Dr. Ma responded the same day in the affirmative; (other optometrists responded several days later). I met with Dr. Ma and informed him my insurance was already spent and would pay out of pocket. I wanted to order my own lenses on-line to save money--not a problem. Dr. Ma indicated that he would provide a prescription for me. Dr. Ma was very thorough with the eye examination, and explained everything to me in understandable language. The RGP lenses that I tried were very comfortable (this had been a problem previously), and the monovision worked fine (so I could see near and far). Dr. Ma also knew I liked to wear soft lenses when I bodysurf, and he set-up my prescription for soft lenses as well (and gave me several soft lenses for free to try out). First time visit today. I was very pleased with the friendly and helpfull office staff as well as the doctor. The waiting area, measurement area and exam room were all well kept and nice and clean. The doctor uses a high tech eye prescription machine. He was very parient with my daughter and I. And he answered all of my questions. The staff was very friendly and offered water and coffee. Arrived as a walk in. Everyone was kind and welcoming. I didn't have insurance but decided to pay out of pocket and give them a try. I Was looking for someone to look at my red sore eye. Didn't know what was wrong but it was hurting. Bryans office took me in right away and gave me a through exam. No infection, just some type of irritation. This is my second annual check-up with Dr. Ma and I'm so happy I found his office on Yelp. I had a horrible optometrist in Aliso Viejo so coming to his office is a breath of fresh air. He's extremely nice, thoughtful, and has tons of experience. As I was getting rung up for my contact lenses, a customer came in to give him vacuum-sealed fish he caught! I think it's a testament to how well-liked you are when your patients want to give you random gifts because they're thinking of you. We had been going to the same optometrist for 20 years. Due to a change in insurance we needed to find someone new. Dr. Ma was one of the choices in-network, so my husband and I made appts. The office is very caring and competent, with many available to lenses to try on. I went back for some follow up questions today which were all addressed. They helped both of us pick out glasses and contacts that will work for us. My husband has been using his new glasses for a week now and they are working out very well. Since this was my first visit he could have upsold me on a new pair of lenses and glasses but he did not. Finally! An optometrist I can rely on. I'm REALLY insecure about my eyes, for very obvious reasons - I've been blind as a bat since the 1st grade. I have gone to a plenty of optometrists and love that this office always fits us in at very short notice. They also open later than many offices as well. I could not have been more pleased by the care I received from Dr. Ma and his staff (Andrew) at Bryan Ma Optometry, from speaking with Andrew on the phone to making my appointment for the eye exam itself online. The communication from the office is both timely and modern (text and e-mail). You can either call-in or send them an e-mail from their website. In my case, I requested an appointment online, and received a follow-up email immediately to confirm they got my information. The office is clean and all the equipment appears to be new as well. I saw Dr. Ma for my eye exam and he was very thorough and answered all my questions. Dr. Ma walked me through each step of the process and encouraged me to ask questions. Definitely the best eye exam I've had in a long time. They made everything very easy and the energy was relaxed yet up beat. I'm always wary of non-restaurant reviews because usually there is some bias to them, you know what I am talking about. So I have decided to write a review that might help wary yelpers like me. Anyways, I haven't seen an optometrist in 6 years and that was done in a different country, so I was in the market for an optometrist. A friend actually recommended Dr. Ma, but don't let that fact be a biased as neither of them asked me to write a review. The place was clean and orderly and quite frankly quaint. The receptionist was quick to say hello and give me the paperwork to fill out. After the paperwork, she took me to a separate room for some pre-eye work with that machine that blows air into your eyes. She was quite patient with me as my right eye did not want to cooperate. She took me into the doctor's office which was also clean and organized. Dr. Ma came in shortly after, examined my eyes, and gave me recommendations for my glass lenses. He was very nice and kind and didn't even condone me on binge watching Netflix for the past couple of days (my eyes were pretty strained when I came in). Once the exam was over, he took me back to the reception desk so I could pick out some new glasses. I forgot the receptionist's name, but she was still patient with me when I kept switching back and forth with different glasses. She was light hearted and understood that it was a tough decision. I finally found a pair that I liked but didn't like the color on the inside so she looked up if there were other color options for me. Luckily for me, there was! So my decision was made. Now for the pricing, since I am a student I got 50% off of the exam and a 20% off on glasses. Even with those discounts, it was still pricey. She tried to accommodate by giving me more options by downgrading to standard plastic and standard AR, but I decided to stick to the polycarbonate and the better AR. She told me the total and I hesitated, so she gave me the option of splitting the cost and paying the rest when I come in to pick up my glasses in a week and half. That was really nice on my wallet and, not to mention, my stress levels :) Overall, Dr. Ma and his staff are all nice, patient, and professional. read more

Having just moved to Orange from Yorba Linda, I was looking for an optometrist close to home and came to Yelp to check out a couple, and decided to book my appointment with Dr. Bryan Ma. Very glad I did! The office was within a 5 minute drive (easy to find) and very clean. After a thorough examination, Dr. Ma was able to pinpoint exactly why I had been having issues with my eyesight for the last year. Turns out the glasses I had been wearing were the wrong prescription, and were over- correcting my vision! Dr. Ma took as much time as I needed to get all my questions answered, and to make sure that the next pair of glasses I would wear would be the perfect prescription. The only reason I didn't give Dr. Ma's office 5 stars is because I found the selection of frames to be very limited for someone as fair as I am. The walls were filled great styles - unfortunately, most of them were in dark black or nearly black. However, I eventually found a pair of Dior frames that I really liked. Great customer service here as well by Dr. Ma! When I called in later to get some clarification on my bill, he called me back personally after I wasn't able to really understand the "new math" of insurance billing from his front office gal. He was able to answer all of my questions quite satisfactorily. Also, he was able to get my new glasses made up in just a few day, so that I am able to wear them when I leave for a business trip on Sunday! I would highly recommend Dr. Ma! read more

Just a little update. I went in today because my glasses were super loose. I am moving in a few days and wanted to get that taken care of. It turns out there's a broken spring, and since my glasses are less than a year old, I can get that fixed for free. But the replacement spring won't be in until after I leave. Gotta just live with broken glasses huh? Nope! Dr. Ma happily said he will send my glasses in to be fixed, and ship them to my new address! This review is way overdue but very well deserved. I've seen Dr. Ma for two years now, once a year for my annual exam and both times have been consistently exceptional. I'll list bullet points to keep to the point: -The office is clean and has a very cozy professional atmosphere to it. The equipment always seems clean and new, and never feels dirty or worn. I know this may not be a selling point for too many people either but the office is also nicely lit which may be the reason why the entire place is so easy on the eyes (eh-eh?) all bad puns aside, it's a very well kept office. -Dr Ma and his staff are the sweetest, most patient people! First off, bless his front office people for putting up with my picky self. I must have tried on 15+ different styles and then tried on the same 2 styles countless times just to be sure which one I absolutely loved. Between the "can I try that one one more time?" And "I'm sorry, I know you just put that back, but can I see it again?"s, they not once lost their nerve with me, and for that, I love them. Second, Dr. Ma is soooo nice! He is very welcoming and takes the time to talk to you and explain exactly what he's doing. It's the difference between "okay, now look here" and "okay, I know you can see this clearly, but I'm worried it might be a little too strong". He really gives off the impression that he cares and that means a lot when it comes to any professional in which you are entrusting your well being to. -Lastly, they always get my glasses to me within a couple days. Whenever it came to getting my annual eye exam in the past, I would used to go to the nearest Costco or find the best deal on groupon and just go with that. However, after visiting Dr. Ma's office for the first time, I would definitely make him my family optometrist. Not only is Dr. Ma very professional and knowledgeable in his craft, but he takes the time, and goes the extra way to make sure you are comfortable and understands his procedure. My story starts about two weeks ago. My last pair of contacts that I've been holding on to ripped. I was at work and had no choice but to spend the day wearing them. Once I was home I looked for my glasses and to see if maybe I had one last pair but I came up with nothing. I decided to yelp an optometrist and see what was open. It was already getting late and I didn't have many options. I found this and two other offices open but they were all far and I wasn't going to make it. Based on Dr. Bryan Ma's reviews I decided to call him and try to schedule a Saturday appointment. Saturday morning I drove myself from Huntington Beach to Orange without contacts or glasses. Dr Ma is great. He was very helpful in answering all my questions and explained my eye needs very well. He gave me a pair of trial contacts and set me up an appointment for the following week. I was skeptical since all optometrists I've been too give me my prescription the same day and send me on my way. I came in for my second appointment after wearing the trials for a week. Wow was I glad I didn't just take that prescription. I found out in my first appointment that I have a bit of astigmatism in my left eye. All week my vision would go from clear to blurry. I used my eye drops but it seemed to not stop. Dr. Ma made me do a test to see if I am left eye or right eye dominant. Turns out it is my left eye, which is the one with astigmatism. He gave my a new set of contacts and since I was having issues with my eyes at work and dry eyes he gave me a tip on what to do while I'm at work to rest my eyes, since I'm staring at a computer all day, and advised me to use specific drops to keep them moist. I have an appointment in two weeks and I can't wait to go back in. This is the best doctor you could possibly see for your eye care needs. I live in Huntington Beach and wouldn't mind making the drive to Orange, even though there are plenty of other optometrists nearby. I wouldn't trust anyone else but Dr. Ma, now that I've experienced his services. I highly recommend him if you are seeking a smart, professional doctor who truly cares about your eye care needs. read more

The exam process was pleasant and extremely thorough - the process to find the exact fit in terms of prescription was about 2x longer than most optometrist which is extremely good to see. Lastly him and his staff went the extra mile by staying late after closing hours to fashion some loaner glasses for me as my eyes are critical for my role at work. Since my boyfriend's eyes have been hurting, we decided to both to get our eyes check. We looked up our usual Dr. and recently discovered Dr Ma's office moved to orange. I'm so excited since it's super close to my house in Anaheim. We noticed the office has grand opening so we made appointments. Upon entry, we were very impressed with the decor of the space. It is very modern, inviting, and has a good flow. The staff welcome and showed us many options of designer glasses like Dior, Ray Ban, DG, Prada etc. There are even cute little glasses for kids. Overall, there is no wait since we made appointments. Both of us were prescreen and checked for eyes pressure before seeing Dr Ma. During our exam, Dr. Ma was very professional and took his time to examin my eye health aside from eye prescription. One unique difference I noticed was that all the equipments in his office were top notch and state of the arts. We had a great experience with Dr. Ma previously but with his new office it's just so much more welcoming like the experience we get when staying at new hotels.
