The office was orderly and clean. When I met with Dr. Ma, he was very cordial and helped walk me through the eye exam process. Bryan Ma provides simply the best in customer service. I bought a pair of "frame-less" glasses in Orange, CA before moving to north Idaho. The glue between the nose piece and one of the lenses came loose - defect from the maker. Dr. Ma sent me (in Idaho) a substitute pair of glasses while he got with the glasses supplier and secured a properly made replacement pair of "frame-less" glasses, which I have now had for nearly a year with no further problems. All of the customer support was handled with no further cost to me. So, even if you get 'way out of sight, you don't get out of Dr. Ma's mind! I came in to get a new pair of glasses as my old ones broke and it was about time to get checked out. The staff were very friendly and helpful and explained every part of the process. Dr. Ma was great during the exam, asking questions to understand what I needed and to also just make me feel at ease. I got my glasses about a week after my exam and had to go back after a few days as it was too tight. Dr. Ma really made sure that my glasses were fitting comfortably and that everything looked right. It cost a bit more than I would have liked, but they do list out all of the different elements that will be going into your lenses beforehand and explain what everything does so you can decide if you want to take something out. They don't have a lot of cheap frame options, but were able to help me find a good pair that were very affordable after my insurance. read more

I been looking for a good eye dr for a while and my coworker found Dr. Bryan and said he was super good. Since I have very complicated eyes, not just any dr can figure out my prescription, but Dr Bryan really took the time to figure it out and gave me the best fit prescription I ever had!!!! I wanted an optometrist that I could count on and trust, one I could go to for years and not have to worry about the selling and bureaucracy often associative with bigger chains; with some places the "pushiness" to buy more and/or upgrade to this and that goes too far. Dr. Brian Ma was absolutely the best eye care doctor I've ever had in my 73 years. I always looked forward to seeing him on days that I would have an appointment, I just felt like I was in very capable hands. At no time did he rush me through an appointment or treat me as though I was being over reactive about my eye care. I moved from California to Oregon one year ago, last September 2017. I was saddened that I probably wouldn't see many of the doctors that have taken such good care of me over the years again. After several months here and not yet established with an eye care doctor I had an incident that I could tell something had happened to my right eye... lights flashing and discrepancy in vision that I was experiencing. I called my primary care doctor that I have here in Oregon and was told to give it a couple of more days...we were up against a week end. Normally I would have probably waited except that the interference in my eye was so severe and I'd just had cataract surgery that year so I called Dr. Ma down in California. He applauded my decision to call, that I should take it seriously, and that if I couldn't find anyone to call him back because he would research a list for me of doctors in the Oregon area. I was able to find a doctor immediately, and can't remember how I did that, but it gave me such great comfort knowing that Dr. Ma had my back (or should i say my eye)... moving 1900 miles away didn't have to mean I no longer had good care. Dr. Ma is awesome! I had a great optometrist before but through word of mouth referrals, I decided to give Dr. Ma a try and looks like I'll be sticking with him! His office is very clean and chic, his assistant Sheri (sp) is very nice and helpful. On my first visit, Dr. Ma actually stayed later to see me. He gave me a heads up about the construction outside, just as a courtesy so I'm aware of the noise. Upon my visit, he asked me questions about my lifestyle to see what kind of lenses would be more suitable and cost efficient. We decided to go with the daily lenses since I'm near-sighted and only wear my glasses for driving and really only wear contacts when I care to see the world in HD. I appreciate Dr. Ma's service skills. He texts me updates about my contacts and when needed, he can even email prescriptions and refills. He's definitely a doctor of this day and age. Plus, whatever color, style glasses/sunglasses he doesn't care in his office, he will happily order for you. Great service and a highly skilled professional isn't a common combination but you'll be sure to find that with Dr. Ma! read more

Dramatic Improvement on my Quality of Life is what Bryan Ma has done for me. Is that a bold statement, no because it is the truth with the condition I have, keratoconus, which required me to wear gas permeable rigid lenses. Best way to describe these if you have not experienced wearing them is a piece a plastic in your eye that falls off easily. I went to see Bryan after speaking with him briefly at my office about my condition, and he suggested that he has treated his patients with soft contact lenses successfully. After hearing that I was excited because I knew with soft contact lenses I would be able to do certain things that regular people take for granted. One thing that I was able to do again was snorkeling in Hawaii without my lenses falling out into the goggles. I was able to swim like a regular person and enjoy what we were there for. I say this because even when I played sports or running, my contact lenses would either get out of place or fall out, which hindered my performance and enjoyment. Bryan had 3 things that I look for an optometrist that led to my quality of life being better: 1. Current Education and Knowledge 2. Current Equipment 3. Passion In order for me to receive these soft lenses Bryan had the current education, Knowledge, and equipment to fit the correct size and prescription for my eyes. His passion for what he does is seen through his work and care for his patients. Would I recommend him, with no hesitation ABSOLUTELY. I've known Dr. Bryan Ma for many years so this review is a bit over due, but I just wanted to let everyone know how great of an optometrist he is. I have pretty bad eyes...and the prescription between my two eyes are extremely different, so I am very sensitive when the prescription isnt made correctly. But ever since Dr. Ma got it right the 1st time he's been my go to Doc ever since....He recently moved to Montclair and works inside Sears. This review is LONG overdue. I came to him last year because I found that he offered a 50% off discount for students. Lucky for me - I liked him and his staff so much that I will never go anywhere else! He has a customer for life that's for sure. He is extremely informative, he listens to you, he is personable, and an all around great person. I highly recommend you visit him if you are unhappy with your doctor or are looking for a new optometrist in the area. He is so great that he opened the office 10 minutes early today for me just so I could make it to an appointment that I had an hour later. An eye exam for glasses and contacts is $139, but if you are a student it is only $69.50. Also, he doesn't try selling you anything you don't need which other optometrists try to do. Today was my first time going to Dr. Bryan Ma's office. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: - Location was easy to find - Plenty of parking - Clean, modern, well-designed office - Came in at 12pm on a weekday and there was no wait - Lady sitting at the front desk was friendly and greeted me immediately when I walked in EYE EXAM: - Dr. Bryan Ma was very thorough with the eye exam. He took a complete eye history from me and asked me lots of questions regarding how my contacts and glasses were working for me, if I've had any vision issues due to my astigmatism, etc. I told him my current contacts didn't feel comfortable at all times and that my vision at night is somewhat blurry while driving, and he made sure to address these two issues during the exam. Dr. Ma also spent a lot of time determining the correct prescription for me...we did a lot of the "1 or 2? 2 or 3?" thing and at one point he even asked me to try on some trial eyeglasses to make sure that the prescription would not make feel dizzy. I really liked that Dr. Ma took his time and did not rush this exam process. - Exam room was very clean, modern, and spacious. - Dr. Ma has some modern, state-of-the-art technology/equipment that allows him to conduct part of the eye exam without being all up in your personal space. I thought this was really cool! I'm used to old school style exams at my previous optometrist's office. - During the eye exam, I asked Dr. Ma several questions regarding laser surgery for my eyes, general vs. brand contact lens solution, Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism vs. other contacts for astigmatism, etc. and Dr. Ma was very knowledgable and provided me helpful answers to all these questions. SELECTING EYEGLASS FRAMES: - Dr. Ma's office carries a wide selection of frames to choose from. I came into the appointment specifically wanting eyeglasses in a "tortoise" color, and Dr. Ma's office had several tortoise-colored frames to choose from. - One of Dr. Ma's staff members, Evan, helped me pick out my eyeglasses. I told Evan exactly what I wanted and he immediately started grabbing eyeglasses from the display cases for me to try on. Evan was very patient throughout this process and offered me his honest opinion on what frames worked or did not work w/ my face. I ended up selecting some hipster-ish tortoise-colored Ray Ban eyeglasses that I'm really excited to wear! OVERALL: - I had an overall very positive experience here, and I would definitely recommend Dr. Ma. His office is very clean, modern, and uses state-of-the-art equipment, and Dr. Ma is very professional, knowledgable, friendly, and thorough. Will definitely be coming back. read more

I just picked up my glass and got back my office. Awesome! I have been suffering with eye strain for years so that I could not wear my glasses more than one hour consistently. But as soon as I put my new glasses prescribed by Dr. Ma, I immediately could see the difference with no awkward feeling. It seems that I found right eye glasses for my eyes finally. Wow! By far the best Dr/Optometrist I've been to. After being with my local optometrist who gave up on improving my vision with glasses and contacts were no option sent me away to a specialist with no explanation, I refuse to go. I was recommended by a friend to Dr. Brian, not only did he explain what really was going on with my vision but he made it possible to wear soft contacts. Due to my vision soft contacts were not an option. But thanks to his knowledge and technology equipment he made it possible. Not to mention i got the most comfortable glasses/frames as well. My review is long overdue. I have been seeing Dr. Ma for the past 4 years now. From the first day of my visit to my annual check ups, he has always made me feel at ease knowing that I'm getting the best eye care. Dr. Ma is by far the most knowledgeable, kind, and thorough optometrist I know. People always say, you can be the most brilliant book worm but if you don't have bed side manners, you're not going very far. Dr. Ma has a way of explaining my vision issues and implications of these issues in a way that an ordinary person can understand. As a person who works in the school, we know that's when you truly know your stuff, when you can break down the knowledge in layman terms. In addition to his expertise, he has a memory of an elephant. Since I only see him annually for my check ups, he will still recall what we've talked about at our last visits.
