In 2022, I discovered my water heater was leaking. Alfred and Tobie arrived around 1:00 PM. After examining the water heater, they said the replacement would cost $2,425. They let me know that If I supplied the water heater, they could install it for approximately $700.00 - but it was obvious that I wasn't in a position to pick up a water heater on my own. They returned with a Rheem (approx retail cost $750.00), which didn't fit on the elevated base correctly - part of the heater now hangs over the edge. The job was completed in two and a half hours. When I calculated the costs of the job, I assigned $1,000.00 to parts and supplies, which left a $1,425.00 labor cost. For a two-and-half-hour job (which included the time spent picking up a water heater), the hourly labor cost was $570.00 for both Alfred & Tobie, or $285.00 an hour each. IMO, the costs were excessive and I felt that I was taken advantage of due to the situation. I contacted Bryco, but I never heard from them. read more

Didn't seem like a big deal but it was actually fairly complicated matter due to the parts needed and the age of the equipment; I am glad I didn't tackle it. I was an angry customer, and they resolved my issue and left me satisfied. I will call them again (if they'll accept my call). I had to have Bryco out twice within a week. The first time, our toilet had a sewer smell, so the plumber took off the toilet, replaced the wax ring, and reset the toilet 3 different times to ensure it was stable and didn't rock. One week later, that toilet backed up. Since it was after-hours, we had to have the emergency call, at a cost of $370. This is why I took one star off; Roto-Rooter augered the very same toilet only a few months ago, and charged $150 at 9pm; Will-Fix-It and Beyer Boys quoted me around the same price ($170-175) that time, as well. I didn't call either of them this time, because I figured it made sense the work of resetting the toilet multiple times caused some of the wax ring to fall into the pipe, which is where the clog came from; I am certain it should not have been clogged, since the bathroom is hardly used and the drain was augered so recently. So, I called Bryco back, and they sent another plumber team. Unfortunately, they didn't agree with me that the work done last week brought the need for the return visit, and took my card info to run the $370. I called first thing the next morning (and didn't get the name of the guy I spoke to), and we had a round-and-round that resulted in him agreeing not to charge my card. So, what could have been a 1 star review became a 4 star review. I am not sure they're happy with the resolution, but I am (of course). And since they were straightforward and listened to me, and agreed not to charge my card, I am comfortable calling them again for a scheduled appointment. read more

Two years ago I had a toilet that would overflow on its own and I had another company come out for a bid and they quoted an outrageous amount. For a second opinion, I took the Bryco recommendation from a few neighbors and got a quote that was definitely reasonable. They had to dig a huge tunnel under my home and the process took a bit longer due to all the rain that year, but were more than professional and kept us updated constantly and came out every day to check the status to see if they were able to work on it. They even worked on it when it was raining and all! Long story short, turned out, they had to replace all plumbing under my slab ! After the great customer service, price and professionalism, I knew I would use them again if another problem ever arose. Well, today I encountered another issue, and I immediately called Bryco. They were at my house within 5 hours and fixed the problem in 3 hours! They were again, extremely nice, professional, and personable. In fact, one of the guys (I think his name is Ryan) told me that he was one of the guys who helped fix the pipes the first time on my home and remembers the house and the job! I used to like these guys, but I just feel like I got ripped off today. That never happened before today, so I'm not sure why it happened. To start with, they were late for the 12 to 2 pm window I was told to expect. Then I got attitude from the person on the phone. They showed up closer to 3 pm, and only one of them came in to look at my toilet that needed repairs. It was just replacing the insides of the toilet (I attempted to fix it myself but couldn't get it out, so I called Bryco). They charged me $38 for parts and then $160 for about 12 minutes of work!! Not impressed! They Lack skill and knowledge to properly diagnose the problem with my shower. This company was sent out by my Insurance company to assess the issue I was having, my shower leaking water through the ceiling of my garage. They submitted a report stating it was due to my shower door. It was NOT my shower door, and I had to have another plumber come out, at my expense, to state the actual problem. Great service. One guy worked on my faucet in my bathroom while the other worked in my husbands bathroom making sure the water line was clear. Found out that the cause of the appearance of brown water in the toilet was actually from rust in the pipe in the toilet tank, not roots as I thought. They were fast and efficient. Also gave me the name of a product to use to eliminate the rust. The best part was yet to come when I received my bill. Was much lower than I paid a year ago from another company. Routine repairs on our rental's 60 year old fixtures went terribly awry, as corrosion, duct tape, and sealant gave way in a mass of truly disgusting parts. The Bryco team was called at 8 am, but did not appear until after 3. The receptionist had a bit of an attitude problem, but the plumbers were true professionals, replacing fixtures, piping, and traps in the kitchen, as well as fixing a leaking shower valve, all for about $200. Everything works great now, and there were no hard sells, enhancements, or bait and switch tactics. They did the work requested, for the estimate provided. This is the first time I have used Yelp for a service. I was pleased that the reviews were very acurrate in this instance. Really wanted to do it ourselves but epic fail that was. Kitchen sink was clogged and all our attempts at unclogging it failed. Hesitant about getting a plumber due to knowing they like to charge a pretty penny but after much hesitation we called. They said they wouldn't be available until the next day since we had called at 1pm then at 4:30 we get a call stating they'll be at our place in 15 minutes. Quote was 125 to come out and labor was included in that price. They came out and they were done in 30 minutes. They were friendly and got straight down to business. Overall price was 131.00. OUTSTANDING. I found these guys using Yelp, read a few of the comments and gave them a shot. When I called I was greeted by a friendly voice who asked what service I needed and gave me a quote. We had two toilets replaced and the service was quick and efficient. The plumbers name was Alfred, when he rang the doorbell he presented me with a business card then went straight to work. I waited a few weeks to write the review to make sure the work was solid, and it is. Alfred did a great job (he even took the old toilets)and the price was outstanding compared to the other quotes I received from the more well known companies. I called Bryco up due to the reviews posted....And I noticed a day too late that the "not recommended" reviews are on another link on Yelp and that could have helped me avoid them as the "Recommended"post are front and center. That part is my fault. Rest of the story: I had a leak on the front yard that was starting to creep over to the neighbor's yard and SAWS washed their hands clean of the issue as it was on my side of the lawn. I called Bryco and one of the guys stated that they do a $100- p/h work on whatever , plus parts and a 15-minute (rounded up to 30) drive time. The plumbers did get there at the agreed time and did the inspection and it showed up that the RPV had a pin hole leak and flooding fast. The plumber on site said that the job will cost $450 straight up. As I stated that the leak was flooding fast, I had no choice to go ahead and proceed. I asked about the whole $100.00 thing that just became a non-issue and he said that the type of issue is what is quoted for. One thing that motivated me to give one star (I would give Zero) is that my original tube was copper from the SAWS meter to the RPV and after the repair, I saw that the middle section was PVC (not as durable, so this may be another headache in the near future). I asked them if that was PVC, he said it was "Section 85"...never heard of that , but section 80 is....Cue up fanfare---PVC!!! They were at my house exactly 1 hour. So I estimate that it is about $150, for service and drive time + say $150 for RPV (way over priced) and say another $50 for a ball valve and PVC pipe...so say $350-ish. I called the next day and spoke with "Shawn" to see if I could get a break down of the price, to see what the $450 was all about, and if anything can be done... and he said he will let me know. I won't hold my breath either. In all, another fall to the old "hook and reel" gig. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!!!! ******************************************************************** UPDATE**** UPDATE ****UPDATE.-8/12 I just wanted to comment that a wrong has been corrected, from a previous experience / post with Bryco. Yesterday I went to my mailbox and I was more than surprised to find a envelope from Bryco plumbing. I thought it was going to be a survey or something, but I am glad that I do not give into rapid impulses and rip it up, because I would have torn up a check to offset the cost of what I was charged with before. I have had three other plumbing companies look at the shower and each told me that they had to get behind the tile which would require more effort and money. I called Bryco today (have used them once before and the experience was very positive) and they came out same day. They got right to work and were able to stop the leak without breaking through the tile. They were fast, efficient, and honest. First time I used Bryco after seeing all the great reviews here. I had no hot water to my shower, everywhere else my hot water was ok. Turns out it was some mechanism that prevent folks from burning themselves from too hot water; the setting was set to low. Reasonable price for the service/diagnostic. I would have given them 5 stars if I could have been known a better time window for them to arrive. They have changed out a busted pipe in the wall of our "powder room " , installed a new ADA compliant toilet , and unclogged two different toilets. They went straight to work and accomplished a lot in a short period of time. Since my house is almost 60, there were a few challenges; however, they had a real "can do" attitude and were extremely knowledgable in how to make things work. And the fact that they charged by the hour rather than by the individual job saved me almost $2,000 over a quote I had been given by a larger plumbing company that charged by the individual job. I opened an account on Yelp just so I can write a review on Bryco. I am thoroughly impressed. I had water seeping through my laminate wood floor and it was a huge mystery to me. I contacted Beyer Boys, instead of my usual Aramendia (whom I will never contact either again.) Beyer Boys said first they had to fix my barely leaking shower faucet for $179 to figure out the rest of the problem. Afterward, they needed to run a test which would cost at least $500 and tear up my walls and floors which was an undetermined price. I said thanks, let me weigh my options. I googled "good plumber san antonio" and came across the Yelp reviews for Bryco. I was pretty impressed from what I read so I gave them a shout. Woody and Garrett showed up and immediately went to work - turning things off and on, going into my attic, etc., - a way more thorough and professional start than what I experienced with Beyer. Bryco charged me $25 for the shower faucet - yes, you read that right - $25 for the same exact thing that Beyer was going to charge $179 for. Bryco was able to pinpoint the location of the leak behind the wall and fixed it within a few hours with very minimal demolition. They charge by the hour, so total I paid $344, way less than the potential $1000's that Beyer wanted to charge, and for all the work to be completed, rather than $500 for only running a test. They even didn't charge the full time they were there. They explained everything they were doing and gave me tips and recommendations. Again, a true thorough impression. I am only upset that I didn't use them for all of my plumbing problems. I used Aramendia a while ago, they stopped in the middle of a job, and told me they had to charge an extra $400 to continue. Now that I've studied the law I know they can't do that legally. Trust me on this - do not use Aramendia or Beyer, use Bryco. You will not regret it. read more

Filed a claim on my home warranty, these guys came out and diagnosed the issue with my bathtub plumbing, and ordered the parts to repair it. Parts arrived and have been sitting in my bathroom ever since (8 months now!). Called the shop a few times, but evidently the only resource that could come out to fix the issue is always out on other jobs. We had a leak in our master bedroom wall -- water was leaking rapidly so I called several other companies who either could not send anyone that same day or never called back. I called Bryco after reading the great reviews. They called back quickly and were able to respond quickly. JD was able to quickly come up with a solution to stop the leak. They came back out today to change the shower faucets and worked efficiently and neatly both times.
