I spoke with Eddy Abuid this evening to inquire why my Hughes Net satellite service wasn't working in my home. After talking with him realized I was on the wrong plan/data cap plan. So Eddy from Hughes Net increased my GB from 10 to 20GB so I was able to watch my Netflix movies. Well, I have to say he was very helpful. At the time I was speaking with him my service began to work very well. I hope this service continues as is. I would like to give a "Shout Out" to Eddy for fixing my problems. I didn't call the 1-800 number. I called B&T because we were moving, and I needed my Dish service relocated to our place 15 minutes outside of Redding, and I adhere to the whole "use the local guys" ethos. I was also shopping for internet service--I'd experienced the dismal performance of Frontier DSL and had struck out on fixed-wireless radio internet because I can't get a line-of-sight signal without putting up a 200-ft tower--so I asked B&T about satellite. I was told: "It works, but it won't stream video as fast as you're used to with cable. As long as you're okay with that, it's fine." Bzzzzzztttt. Wrong. The problem with satellite internet is not with streaming video--once your buffer is built and it's streaming away, you don't notice any difference, any more than you notice it when you're watching satellite TV. The problem with satellite internet is this: You click, and then you wait......forever. Often until the mofo times out on you, often repeatedly. If you're using internet for work/research, like I do, you spend most of your time waiting forever to reach the server, and for the server to respond back. It's the latency. It's fucking useless. How fucking useless? We have satellite internet that we're paying for, and we don't use it. With two or three bars out here, our goddamned Verizon cell phones are 10x faster and 100x more reliable, and we use them as internet hotspots, every day, all day. We're paying almost $100 per month for Hughesnet.con (the satellite provider that Dish uses), and we've set all of our devices to forget that modem so that the devices don't default to it. And it's a two-year contract--because any sane person would drop Hughesnet.con after a month once they got a taste of it, unless you happen to live in Bumfuck Nowheretistan and there is absolutely no alternative. Before we gave up on the satellite internet completely, it stopped working altogether for a couple of weeks. I called B&T twice over those two weeks and left messages (because, you know, don't call the 1-800 number). No return call. On the third try the guy who picked up (Doug? I don't know) told me that I had to call Dish's 1-800 number to get help. The guys from Dish came out the third week and said that my internet dish had been improperly installed by B&T with only 2 of the 4 bolts set on one side--like a hinge--and was tilting forward. The 1-800 Dish guy fixed the dish and replaced the system with the one that hits their newest generation satellite--Jupiter 2--and said it would be faster but would still suck, because satellite internet sucks, because of the latency issue. Sorry. He's absolutely right. The Jupiter 2 download speed is hella faster, and so what? That's not the problem. The problem is waiting......waiting.......waiting......for the downloading to start. And often it never does start, so then you get to try again.......and again.......and again. Other people seem to be satisfied with B&T, so I'll concede that my experience may be an outlier, related only to the shit satellite internet service that B&T offers through Dish. But in my defense, I wouldn't be writing this negative review: 1. If B&T had been straight with me about how horrible the Hughesnet.con service is in the first place (like the Dish guys were) 2. If B&T hadn't dodged me when I left voicemails about my satellite internet going to shit just because they don't want to deal with it and (as it turns out) it's not really their problem 3. If B&T hadn't done a crap job of installing the dish so that we lost three weeks of the shit service that I paid for (the three weeks relating to #2) 4. If B&T had gone to bat for me with Dish and helped me get out of my contract because the service isn't performing as represented, instead of washing their hands Here's what might happen next: Doug will attach a comment asking me to get ahold of him. I'm probably going to ignore that, because I'm going to assume that his interest isn't that he suddenly wants to help me. If he wanted to help me, that would have happened already, and I wouldn't be writing this review.* Why two stars instead of one? It's in recognition that B&T has a lot of 5-star reviews and must be doing something right. As for me: Meh, I've experienced better. read more

Very knowledgeable, informative and professional. Able to answer questions we didn't know we had, showed us features that we never accessed. Called customer service for us... Doug really went above and beyond. Referred him to our parents to get their dish hopper upgraded and for the tutorial, really. Will definitely use him for all of our future needs!! read more

I should have called the 800 # - had the service a week and a promotion came out and DISH would have honored it, dish told me to call B&T cause they need to do it since I went 3 rd. Party, I Called them and they flat out told me no they wouldn't honor it, Even though I told them Dish would honor it - then he told me I proably talked to someone who can't speak English and I misunderstood - WHAT THE HECK ??? I said he spoke perfect English and B&T would not honor what DISH WOULD HONOR - I called Dish back and got another English speaking person and they said that I was screwed cause I went third party ... Had them try and install Dish Network at our new place but because of issues with length of cables and such could not get strong enough signal. Tried a couple times to get it to work but gave up and decided to cancel till we move again. Got charged cancellation fee from dish even though there service was unusable. B&T was absolutely no help in working with me with dish to let them no of the install issue. Called several times to talk to owner and told he would call me back and never did. More a complaint on Dish Network but this place could've done a lot more to remedy the situation. Won't be using either in the future read more

WOW!!! What great customer service!! Don't call the 800 number!! We went through B&T Satilite to upgrade to the Hopper and our experience couldn't have been better. They have saved me so much money and the staff are so friendly. The installer came out and was very nice and showed me how to work the new box. I thought I would give a local DISH company my business, but wished I had called the 800#. Very disappointed in their customer service. Was not given proper information through the process. Was not offered the Hopper at time of installation, and when I inquired a couple days later, was told it would cost around $90 to upgrade. Many calls made to them. Lots of misinformation. Let me start off by saying that their instillation was very professional and their employee wanted to make sure that I was satisfied. What they didn't tell me when I called them was that they were going to charge me $50.00 for instillation. If I would have called Dish directly (the 800 number) instillation would have been free. So I asked them about it and they said I must not have good credit my credit score is close to 800 and when I called Dish they said they didn't even run my credit. Next time I will call the 800 number. If you can't be up front and honest with your customers you shouldn't be in business. read more

My sataellite died on our road trip in our RV, checked on Yelp, and found this shop. Called them and the next day problem was solved. I didn't know he was a big time dish dealer, till after he helped with my Direct TV problem. Call these folks- they will help! read more

I called talked to a nice guy told my story asked if he could help me out he said he would check on things and call me back within 30 min after 2 hours I called back got voice mail so I left megs. its now been 22 hrs and still no call back. You say you care but you cant call someone back. I would have understood if you could not help me but not to return someone call is not right. Its very unprofessional. Not happy at all. I stopped by because I heard their ads on the radio about "Don't call the 1800#". So when I was having problems with my remotes I thought they could help me. I was also interested in possibly upgrading from my 10+ year old DVR to the new Hopper and I wanted to know my options. When I enter, their employee was friendly enough, but after asking about my remotes she told me to, wait for it: "CALL THE 1800#!" What?? So I asked her, what about upgrading to the new Hopper, She once again told me to call the 1800#. She even wrote it down for me on a post-it. She was very polite but I was hoping for so much more. Being that I own a local business I was really hoping to stay local. Very disappointed. read more

We have contacted this company twice now. The first time my husband was all ready to sign up, no issues or anything. The guy on the phone said he would call back to see if they would take his card. His card is through the state so he wasn't sure. The guy never called back. Second time, just yesterday I called because I have a checking account and left a message. Stephanie called back but I missed the call because I was working. I called her back and she had no recollection of calling me or me calling her. I had to remind her that she had called back and she still said she didn't remember calling. I then jogged her memory and she gave me this "too good to be true" deal. Something happened on the credit check and she said that I needed to call the 800 number (odd since they tell us not to) and ask to see what was going on. I called her back but she doesn't answer her phone. She calls back today and once again, due to work constraints I didn't answer. I called her back at 4:30 and she once again argued with me and flat out denied ever talking to me. I then had to re-jog her memory and she was extremely short with me. She was no help and told me that there was nothing she could do for me until I got the issue cleared up and then told me that even if I did clear it up she wasn't sure if they would even do the work. I think I will either stick with Charter or go to the competition and see if they would treat me better. read more

For Dish, home theatre, and tv mounting I call B&T Satellite. Doug has helped me move my dish network services twice in the last three years and I couldnt be happier with the service he provides. Its nice to have a local guy that serves Chico and all the north state. He also helped me in my latest move with my tv mounts at a reasonable price when I couldnt get any other companies do it a unless I bought added equipment or services. read more

To commend B&T and Mr Doug Tooley specifically, Doug to the rescue as we (well one of us anyway) wanted to swap out a plain ol old fashion HD flat screen with the new/improved 'smart TV' who knew there was such a thing! I was soon to learn, i aint smart enuf to operate a smart tv. so there, i said it. This exercise was met with expertise regarding equip & associated stuff. Doug proved to be the consumate professional I know him to be. Polite & courteous even as he sat on the floor sorting out the wires. We had this tv wall mounted and he even drilled a small hole in the wall to drop all the wires so there are no wires visible...most excellent. I took an hour off work about two years ago to meet the Tech from B&T and he never showed. I called and talked with the owner who assured me he would find out what was going on and call me right back. Twenty minutes later with no call back, I went back to work, (I was Late). When I returned home that evening I had a phone message from his Tech saying that it was too bad that I couldn't make our earlier appointment. He actually blamed it on me!
