I have tried several times to get balayage, and the look that I wanted over the course of the past four years and finally almost gave up. Gigi SLAYEDDD my hair, she is so talented and warm and really everybody in the salon was super professional and welcoming. What an awesome experience! After years of letting a botched dye job grow out to my natural color, I finally decided to try dying my hair again. On a whim, I booked an appointment over the phone with ease and was scheduled with Becky for a balayage in just a few days. I arrived at the salon and was greeted by a sea of friendly smiles (even though I was running late!) and had my consultation with Becky, who assessed my hair texture/color/length, reviewed the pictures of examples I liked, and gave me recommendations on what process and outcome I wanted. We decided on a warm honey balayage to compliment my skin tone and eye color. She even broke down projected costs on a sheet and had me sign before starting anything so that I was aware of expected costs of the treatments - so smart! The process took about 3 hours and went by quickly as the friendly staff was easy to talk to and offered water and coffee to make me feel at home. I found Frankie's Instagram through a friend and knew I wanted her to do my hair. I really appreciated the mini consultation that took place before the process began. The atmosphere is modern and reminds me of my old shoppe in Brooklyn. Unfortunately I had to give it 2 stars because my hair was completely destroyed. I really wanted to love it there. But sadly it took months and almost 4 inches off my hair to get it back to normal. They corrected it when I called. But still had remarks about my hair "looking like straw" was a bit traumatizing and ruined my self esteem until I finally fixed it and corrected everything (took about 8 months) I went for a blow out another time and it was a 2 hour ordeal. I decided not to go back after that. I do wish them the best. But my virgin hair was ruined trying to accomplish a balayage and i still kick myself for the absurd amount of money I had to spend on the service and repairing it my hair. Between purchasing Olaplex, haircuts, deep treatments and product. I finally have my hair back.! I spent 1,500+ between the services and haircuts and I hope they find ways to improve. I made an appointment for a blowout at 9am on a Sunday in July for my bridal shower that day. I was charged a 50% deposit and had to fill out some weird questionnaire beforehand in order to keep the appointment, which already was a little bothersome. I received multiple emails to confirm I was still coming prior to the appointment. I get to the salon around 8:50am on that day and it wasn't open. Ok, I was a little early, I'll wait. 10 minutes go by and I see two other clients waiting outside the door. I walk up there and ask if anyone opened the salon yet but the door was still locked. At around 9:15am I emailed the salon to ask if anyone was on their way, to no response. I had a schedule to keep, so at around 9:25 I decided I couldn't wait any longer and had to leave to style my hair myself at that point. I also left a voicemail at the salon telling them that I had to leave and that I wanted my deposit back. I have not received any response from the salon, either a phone call or an email, and therefore had to file a dispute with my credit card! Luckily, they paid me (assuming that is because the salon never responded to the credit card company either). I will not be booking with Bua Salon anytime soon and anyone who asks for a salon recommendation in the area, I will vehemently tell them NOT to go here! read more

Victoria gave me brassy, orange, streaky, ugly looking chunky highlights. Then, when I was upset about it, told me it looked like that because she was trying to stay in my budget... which makes no sense because I was charged exactly what she quoted me at the beginning - $300 for ugly chunky highlights, plus $35 to use olaplex plus $25 for every extra bowl of lightener, (plus 20% off because my phenomenal usual stylist Meghan had left the salon permanently a day earlier. Red flag.) And because I had a wedding to go to, I went against my gut instinct that I should have walked out when Victoria, with her bad attitude and 1 year of experience, quoted me a price like that. I assumed I would at least get what I wanted. Nope, run away from this salon. Bua overall used to be pretty chill with decent stylists, but recently has just descended into chaos with no quality control. Owner, Jess, you should be ashamed for letting a client walk out with hair that looked like mine, then walk out AGAIN without the courtesy of a redo or any other compensation. We all agreed we should have blown our hair out ourselves as the finished product was falling out before we even got to the event just looked undone. We were quoted a price then afterwards were bullied into paying over $500 in " cash only ", way much more then the quoted price. She said sorry the price is $159 A weft and I'm like oh ok you guys told me diff on the phone & also mentioned 50% off of my purchase for wefts she goes oh no that was mis communication I thought you were a "stylist Toni". Im like how am I a stylist when I told u I have a gift card on file and that I'm a customer there and you looked me up in the system. So basically there petty Bettys playing games because I am a customer of there old stylist Stephanie who no longer works there so my price went up and the discount went away because I don't get my extensions installed there. Also I had a gift card on file mind you they always look it up by phone number all of a sudden petty Betty at the desk needed the actual gift card and couldn't look it up. That's Untill I called them out on there games and suddenly she found it. THE best salon ever! For starters, the salon is super cute, trendy, and just feels like a great environment. All of the workers are super friendly and dress really well LOL. I have black hair so I never get any color work done but I have gotten a haircut by Lindsey and Becky and was completely happy with the results both times. They even finish the cut with their signature waves which I love because I can't do my own hair for shit.
