As soon as we walked in and I stated, there were three of us dining in. I was told, "we had to order to go." I looked at the time on my phone and around the restaurant which was... EMPTY. And ask, "why?". The women pretended as if she didn't understand my question and started talking in another language to the two other workers. She then again stated, "you order to go".. BUA Thai was a nice surprise for our first takeout in months. We have driven by several times and finally decided to check them out last night. Everything was really good. The Phad Kee Mao was really flavorful and had a LOT of meat in it. The panang curry was Sooooo creamy and delicious i think it was my favorite part. The basil fried rice was really good too. I think the only thing i wouldn't order again were the coconut prawns appetizer. I'm pretty sure they were just reheated and not freshly battered. But other than that one blemish, we had a great experience and will definitely order again! read more

We have been waiting a long time for a good Thai restaurant in the Lake Stevens area. Thanks so much for BUA Thai. The interior is a blend of modern and traditional. The wait staff is very sweet. After you put in your order, you definitely don't have to wait very long for your food to show up. Your favorite Thai dishes with a unique taste. We really appreciated the freshness of the vegetables. The only reason why they got four instead of five stars is because of the Fresh Spring Rolls. There was so little tofu in them, we weren't even sure it was added. We are excited about trying out the rest of the menu. This Thai restaurant is a diamond in the rough. We have eaten there a number of times and each dining has been a wonderful Adventure in taste and texture. The curries are absolutely divine and the Pud Thai is the best that I have eaten outside of Thailand itself. I'm not sure if Bua has turned over their Kitchen staff in the last ~4 months, but something has changed. This place was my go-to thai, no one in the area could touch it. We had 2 mediocre experiences and this last weekend was the third strike. I think its time to try some other places. They acknowledged that their raised menu prices to offset the increase in labor costs (totally understandable), but the value just isn't there (especially if you order for delivery!) Pad Thai was missing veggies and all of the spices were dumped on top (not cooked/tossed together). It looked like they bulk made multiple orders of Pad Thai and then added seasons as they boxed it. This resulted in lots of red pepper flakes (like the packets of pizza toppings) dumped on top. Pad See Ew was undercooked with globs of noodles stuck together but the flavor was good but not very spicy for 4 star. Our Fresh Rolls were poorly made, they were very loosely rolled and immediately fell apart when you picked them up. It was missing basil and seasonings, so it was just a bland bite of lettuce and noodle with 1 shrimp sliced in half. This isn't goodbye Bua, just a see you later... read more

We normally go to Rice up, but today we decided to try something different as we are trying our different places around town during the lockdown. This place isn't bad-we ordered the veggie garden with chicken, original Bua with beef and pineapple fried rice with veggies. You can choose no spicy, medium spicy or spicy. Medium spicy was very mild, if at all spicy, but spicy was spicy. Flavors were okay-I liked mine, but my boyfriend wasn't a huge fan of his pineapple fried rice. I also got one order of fresh spring role, with tofu. At first I thought one spring roll at $3 was expensive-BUT, the roll was HUGE. It was 2 rolls worth. Ingredients were fresh, but I think they could lay back on the lettuce. Peanut sauce was yummy as well. The portions weren't very big but we did get full. It was about 47 dollars for everything, so kind of expensive but I'd say it was worth it. read more

Came in today with my daughter to place a takeout order, we walked in, the waitress was busy so I understood no one said hello or anything, I figured she would acknowledge us when she had a minute, that time never came, another person walked in to which she did say hi to. We got there before this gentleman who was picking up a to go order, and yet we never got acknowledged, asked what we needed or anything, I got up to the counter and had to raise my voice so she could hear me say "Excuse me" while she was standing behind the kitchen counter with her hands in her pockets, she came and I told her I needed to place an order. This was our first time here and so far the customer service at least was underwhelming and rude. If this person reads this review let me tell you this, I am a very good tipper for people who ACTUALLY provide customer service but, I do not just give my money away to people who are rude and ignore me like I do not exist in case you are wondering why I did not tip you. Today was their 2nd day of their soft opening. Their grand opening is slated for the 22nd of March. So just a week and some change away. Upon entering, Bua Thai is busy. Every booth is seated and there are people waiting for their to go orders. Our intention was to order to go. We were greeted and decided to sit in for dinner since we were already there. The booth we were seated at was spacious. Could easily fit 4 people. My sister and I were greeted by our server whose name I don't remember but she was very sweet. She let us know before we ordered than there will be about a 30 minute wait for our food since they are busy and still trying to work out some kinks. We let her know that it's no problem and proceeded to place our order. We ordered crab rangoon for appetizer. And for dinner, we ordered pad see eiw and their house fried rice. As far as spice level, we opted for a 3 assuming it was a 1-5 spice ratio. As we waited for our food, there was a constant flow of people coming in. There was a wait of 45min to an hour. Seemed more like 30-45min. Any time a table was done, it was seated within minutes. To go orders were about the same wait. Got our Thai tea and crab Rangoon first. Their Thai tea was delicious! Perfect amount of sweetness! The crab Rangoon was good as well. It came with 6 and plum sauce. The filling was just right. It wasn't overwhelmed with cream cheese. About 10 minutes later, we receive the pad see eiw and house fried rice. Upon presentation, the pad see eiw wasn't what we were used to seeing but it looked good. Smelled good too. Took a bite and it was good. A little saucier than we're used to but the flavor was on point. However, there was no spice. The fried rice looked and smelled good too. Again, flavor was good. But yet again, no spice. Maybe they forgot to add the spice? Either way, both were tasty. Just wish we got the spice we were hoped for. Maybe next time! Its intimate in size but Giant in flavours and selections. Our experience is with the Chefs Daughter as Hostess and the Bartender . BUA Thai is (at the time of this writing) less than a month old but the staff is already knowledgeable and the food is fresh, hot, and delicious. They even go the extra mile taking lots of care in their plating and presentation. Even better, they can accommodate food allergies and sensitivities. Many of their menu items are naturally gluten free while many of their others can be made this way, which means I can bring my spouse who has celiac. I had crab Rangoon which was more crab than cream cheese, making it quite delicious. My husband and I shared a Tom Kha Gai, Pad See Ewe, and beef fried rice (all prepared gluten free) and the flavors were well balanced and delightful. While staying in nearby Machias, Washington, it was my car's navigation that found the E/W shortcut on 20th from Everett to Machias; otherwise I might never have found this exceptional Thai restaurant. I've now been back three times, brought quite a crowd along in December. Even those not keen on Thai were blown-away by the flavor, presentation and ingredient quality. Plus it was a fun atmosphere with our hosts. Excellent service, attention to every detail; impeccably clean facility. Most conscientious operation one could hope for. I am honestly baffled by the good reviews. We have been there 3 times and have never had a good experience. The service has been very disappointing every time. We were totally ignored for an almost comically LONG time last time we were there. It got to the point where we just left.
