Review is only for the self wash, we haven't taken advantage of daycare just yet. Very good products, extremely reasonable. Our white Great Dane and our mulberry tree in the backyard don't mix very well. She likes to sit and lay down back there, giving her purple spots. Their products are pretty good at getting those stains out and keeping our baby super soft. The owner and employees are extremely helpful and welcoming, and our puppy loves the treats they give her. BLOODY WOUNDS & TERRIBLE INFECTION. REFER TO PICTURES. I should've read the reviews first b/c other customers had a similar experience. Took our dog here for grooming a few times and each time he would come home with persistent kennel cough and then started developing sores. We assumed this was just an allergic reaction to something else. However, on the most recent visit, they sent him home with dripping bloody holes on his body and the worst kennel cough ever. He could barely breathe and the cough seemed to suffocate him at night when he went to bed. Soon after, an outbreak of sores and inflamed red skin developed all over his body. We've spent hundreds of dollars at the vet to get this cleared up and it will be many weeks before he's finally cured. My poor baby is miserable. I feel terrible for taking him to this place and now I'm scared to take him anywhere else, so I will be learning how to groom him myself. It baffles me that none of the employees felt the need to inform me of the many cuts in skin that occurred during grooming. Instead, they tried to hide it under his fur. I question the type of people they have working here. This is abuse. read more

I have taken all my dogs to B&B for the past 10 years. They have been groomed, boarded, and had great daycare experiences. The owners are wonderful, personable, dog-lovers and interact well with all the different doggie personalities. I know because I have taken a variety to them and each dog runs in ready to have fun. I love the structure of the dogs playing, taking naps, and socializing with each other. You can tell each employee is hand picked by the owners because they make each dog (and owner) feel special. read more

I feel like I waited forever to get an appointment at this place! They were crazy busy during the holidays but I finally got my two little pekingese dogs in there. One of them has silkier hair and really just needed a bath and a manicure, but the other one has the crazy pekingese undercoat and he was a MESS. The groomer took one look at him and declared that she would probably have to shave him! I was afraid she might say that, but I was hoping she might be able to leave him a little hair because he likes to hang out in the yard and it's super cold. I seriously couldn't care less what he looks like as long as he's comfortable, so it's not about whether he's cute or not. The groomer said that she would try, but didn't want to spend all day yanking knots out of his hair because that hurts and annoys the dog, which I appreciate. I should also add that my dogs are a little "special"...the boy was a puppy mill rescue so he has a bad back and a major lack of social skills. The girl is super friendly and sweet but screams blue murder when presented with a blow-dryer - earplugs are definitely in order! Anyway, when I picked them up I was VERY pleasantly surprised to see that the little fella still had plenty of fur to keep him warm, and all the mats and undercoat were gone! They were both soft, fragrant little fluffballs! Plus they were both very happy and relaxed, which is more important. They'll definitely be going back there for all their future baths and haircuts. BTW, the groomer will be happy to show you the grooming stations if you ask. I was a little nervous when I walked in because there were a bunch of humongous really loud barky dogs in daycare, so she gave me a mini-tour and let me see that the two areas are isolated from each other. read more

We first ran into the owners of Bubble and Bark when they were going door to door promoting their business, here in Ferndale. Very friendly... spoke with the two owners for almost 15 minutes. We were excited that a doggy daycare/boarding facility was coming to our city. We have a 90lb Labrador. We took him up to B&B, for a sample daycare visit and he loved it. He got plenty of attention, was not dirty at all, and had no weird cuts on him. So we decided to leave him at B&B for 5 days in July while we went out of town. We ordered the "full groom" on him, and he was bathed, brushed, nails trimmed, and anal glands expressed. When we picked him up, he was happy, cheerful and looked amazing from his grooming. Our dog requires medication for seizures, and B&B gave him his medication with no additional charge. The boarding "suites" are very roomy. I highly recommend this place for your dog. Oh yeah....price. 35 bucks a day for boarding. read more

If B&B wasn't in my life, civilizations centuries from now would find my remains huddled in the corner of my Ferndale home, delicately preserved in a combination of Dewey's saliva, rawhides & plush toy stuffing, and around me on the hardwood floor would be the worn tracks and skid marks of an endlessly pacing, high-energy dog. The windows would be shattered from the endless barking, and the cat's remains would be found clinging to the beam on the ceiling. My husband would have long killed himself. For real. My reality without B&B would be frustrating, bleak and we probably would have given our previous Dewey away long ago. That's the truth. The daycare services are a life-saver and we can't live without them. We take Dew, usually, twice a week for a half-day each. He gets socialization, excersize and lots of attention. I think he likes them better than me! The prices are reasonable and comparable to other daycares, but the location is fantastic. The owners are also great gals and we love to chit-chat with them about food and wine. They're very accomodating and friendly. Dewey has some food allergy issues, and they do a great job of making sure he doesn't get into anything (within their control). They give great advice on treats, food and training as well. Riley's hair was pretty much covering his eyes, so I decided it was time for his first grooming. I had no idea where to take him, so I decided to try Bubble & Bark due to the rave reviews. I called for an appointment and they couldn't get me in for a couple weeks. This was a bummer, but I figured that just meant they were really good since they were that busy. When the day finally came I dropped him off first thing in the morning. I had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to take care of me and she was not very friendly. When the groomer came out to get him she was super nice and friendly and asked his breed. and how I want him cut. I told her he was a schnauzer poodle mix (a schnoodle), but that we just wanted to keep his puppy cut. I explained that we like his full little beard and spiky hair on top. She assured me he would look great and took him in back. The woman who signed me in said I could pick him up around 3pm. That seemed so long! When I went to pick him up the woman in front was MUCH friendlier and talked about how cute and friendly Riley is, so I was liking her a lot more! But when she brought him out I was a little heartbroken about how he looked. I think the groomer was a little baffled by how to cut a schnoodle because he basically ended up with a poodle head with a small pouf of a beard at the end of his snout. Everything was nicely done (the cut was even, his nails were great), but I wasn't pleased with the actual style. He looked like a doofus. You can't see the grooming stations, so I don't know what it's like back there, but from what I did see it looked nice and clean. The dogs coming in seemed happy to be there and i really liked how they require medical records before taking the dog. I would give Bubble & Bark another try down the road, but I would be way more specific in how I want him cut! read more

This place is one of the single best things about Ferndale. Our dog Carl would go there wagging his tail, and come home nice and tired. They honestly treated him like he was their own, and were legitimately sad when we moved to Chicago. If you have a dog, definitely take it here. Our dogs love it here! We live just a few blocks away and it is never a hassle to drop them off. I actually took them this morning, and one dog squealed in delight as we pulled up. We took our dog to Bubble and Bark this week to use the self washing station and were overall pleased with our experience. Upon arrival, it was not well lit and we almost mistook the location for being closed. Upon entry, the associate was very helpful in showing us around and what we could use. We were able to lift the dog into the tub, and use the built in leash to help her feel comfortable and stay put. There were a variety of shampoos and conditioners available as well as brushes, towels, and dryers. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back. read more

Edited review after speaking to owner. When we started at Bubbles & Bark our puppy absolutely loved it! While it is a minimalist no frills daycare, it is just what a dog needs to be a dog. Our dog always comes home exhausted from playing all day. The staff is always very friendly and even accommodating to circumstances. (Once they stayed almost an hour after pickup time because I was stuck in traffic) Previously we had reviewed B&B regarding our dog coming home with some illness. She did develop some ailments, but it would be unfair to blame it all on B&B. It may have been from the dog park or dishonest owners bringing in sick dogs. Whatever the case, they have become very straight forward about any concerns with our dog or discovery of anything contagious identified with other pets in the facility. My best suggestion would be that this is a great daycare with people that genuinely care about dogs. Make sure you do your research on vaccinations, because it is doggie daycare after all. Issues will occur at any daycare. However, B&B will happily discuss and resolve any of these issues or concerns. Which is more than I can say of any other daycare my furry pals have visited over the 30yrs I've been in the area. read more

First timer at Bubble & Bark... Made appointment and asked to be on callback list in the event of a cancellation... Much to my surprise, I did get a call and I was able to get in sooner to have my yorkiepoo groomed. Yay! Meagan was very friendly, professional and really a pleasure to speak with! Another lady who called me was great as well. I also appreciated the fact that when I asked to see where my little girl would be caged, they were more than willing to show me the area! The only less positive feedback is the pricing. I was told it would be between $40-$45 depending on how the cut went. All in all, great experience. I will be returning. Is it possible to give negative stars? This place is a joke. We took our dog here a couple times and will most certainly not return. We left our pup there for two days and when we came to pick him up, he had urine and feces all over his legs. On top of that, he also had numerous sores on his body after sleeping on the cold, hard concrete after he had an accident on his bed. No one thought to contact us or even give him a new place to sleep; truly heartbreaking. It's pretty sad when you trust someone enough to watch your family member for the weekend only to feel awful when you see the state of them when you pick them up. At first when I started going to this doggy daycare, I thought the staff was wonderful, friendly, and concerned. I'm now not impressed at all. First, after going my dog got fleas. I confronted the staff, who said the "require" everyone to get flea guard. I treated my dog, cat, and bombed my home. There were definitely, NO fleas. I took my dog back a couple weeks later for day care and again, I have a horrible flea problem. Also after taking my dog there, she started developing an aggression problem. I'm not sure why and I never talked to the staff about it. She started being very aggressive at the dog park, and also at home. I will not be taking my dog here anymore, which is unfortunate because it is close and the staff is friendly. It is not worth having to bomb and treat my pets twice though. read more

I get my dog, Henri, groomed at Bubble and Bark. The owners are really nice and the groomer does a really nice job with Henri (he's a miniature poodle). They've got self-washing stations for folks to bring in their dogs and a full day care/boarding service. They also carry healthy treats and foods for dogs. If I ever had to board Henri I would choose Bubble & Bark in a heartbeat. read more

First time I've taken my dogs there for grooming. It is a lot closer to home (within 5 min) so I thought I would try them as my regular groomer is about 15-20 min away. We made the appointment about a month prior and were told it would be $35 per dog. No mention of increases for any matting or whatnot. $35. Per dog. I clarified this with the woman working the counter when I left them. She confirmed. Still no mention of additional costs. I asked that the dogs be shaved with just a little hair left on the tail and ears. The groomer that took my furbabies back was all business. I took them in and there were several other dogs arriving. I thought, if they are this busy they must do a good job. I got the call that the dogs were ready at the time that they had told me they would be ready - that's good. However, I was then told it would be $40/dog. I said, "What happened to $35/dog?" She said, "Well it's actually about 38-40 per dog and there was some matting. So, it's 40." I know one of the dogs had a matt or two. One dog had none. I had already written out a check for the amount given previously with a tip for each dog. I said, "Well, I was told 35 and here is the check." She accepted it and I asked, " So, 38 from here on?" "38 or 40." "Ok." I took my dogs and went to my car. I check them out and the groom job was just so-so. There was choppiness and hair left where hair should have been shaved from. The hair inside the ears had not been removed and barley cut. My regular groomer, Tailor Made Grooming, will be keeping my business. My regular groomer, who charges $35 (no restrictions), does an amazing and thorough job every time. The place isn't as fancy looking but it is way better for quality work and she always seems like she loves the dogs. read more

Even tough the customer service at the front desk was good, I was disappointed with the overall service quality. The grooming of my two puppies took a long time and they were very stressed at the end (left them there at 8:30 and was only able to pick them up at about 1 pm). Also, I've noticed some time later that one of them had some wounds made possibly by the trimmer (that must be the another reason why they were so stressed when I picked them up). Will not come back again and recommend you to go somewhere else too. read more

I deleted the 1 star review-- I gave 3 stars because after two visits we were not pleased with the grooming of my dog (basically shaved both times even though specifically asked for that not to happen), the cost (far more than we've paid anywhere else), and the time she was there. The business did reach out to me to try to remedy the situation however we never were able to connect so we ultimately took her elsewhere. read more

He was happy, clean, freshly groomed, nails trimmed, and wearing an adorable bandana. The people who work there were super nice and really seemed to know what they were doing. I LOVE Bubble & Bark. I've been bringing my own dog here for three years and, as a dog sitter, my friend's dog for many years prior to that. The owners and the staff are wonderful and really seem to know their customers, both canine and human. My dog Penny loves going here, be it to board or for daycare. I use B&B a LOT-- I board her here 2x a year for a week+ and also bring her to daycare weekly. I've had all good experiences the many, many times we've come to B&B and I'm always happy to give them my money in return for a happy, well cared for dog! read more

Love Bubble and Bark. I don't know how they get our dog so incredibly fluffy, but man, it is hilarious. Our dog is an American Eskimo and he is nothing but white hair, which includes a thick, impossible-to-keep-up-with undercoat. He's also an old man dog who doesn't always cooperate. They don't seem to have any trouble with him and he comes out looking great. We had to take him somewhere else recently because we couldn't get him in and then I truly appreciated what a great job Bubble and Bark does. Bubble and Bark charge comparably to most other grooming places but they definitely do higher quality of work. My only complaint is the length of time to get an appointment (especially weekends). Just keep that in mind when scheduling. I have not used their boarding services as of yet, but I would plan on it if needed. read more

Checked this place out at a friends suggestion while looking for a doggy day care for a weekend in the Ferndale area. This is not a doggy day care. This is a garage lined with cages. No toys. 50 dogs jammed in there. 2 staff people to oversee the dogs. No outdoor playing area. Just a bunch of anxious dogs barking their poor little heads off. I had the staff take my dog in for a brief 10 minute evaluation and although he seemed to be ok in that garage there is no way I would leave him there for ANY length of time. I suggest driving an hour East and taking your dog to Doggy Day Care and Spa in Lansing which is what I will be doing. read more
