Bubble world is quite nostalgic as it's one of the first bubble tea shop I remembered going to as a kid growing up in Vancouver. Their bubble tea offerings are more standard than those specialty BBT shops nowadays but I think that's why I love them so much, nothing really has changed all that much since I was young. They are one of VERY few bbt shops that offer wheat germ milk tea, a malty-wheaty milk tea, which is my ULTIMATE go-to. Another must order here in terms of food is their spicy beef noodle soup. Their soup is nice and flavourful, good amount of spice, and quite big, great value! My fiancé go-to's are their baked fish on rice and their salty peppery chicken. Had dinner with other 3 friends at this location and we we're happy with our experienced. The restaurant is not very busy for dine-in but very busy with mobile order pickup. The place was huge and cozy. Staff are friendly and acknowledged you very quick when you needed something. All the foods we've ordered are very good. Mostly anyone who loves bubble tea is probably familiar with Bubble World. I was invited to the New Westminster location and the dishes that I tried didn't disappoint. My sister and I especially enjoyed the beef soup. The soup is seasoned well but the beef is the highlight. It was so tender. We also liked the salt and pepper chicken nuggets. They were crispy, delicious and they were not greasy at all. They have tons of bubble tea to choose from and I think their bubble teas are cheaper compared to others but the taste and quality of their drinks can compete with the more expensive ones that I've tried. My sister had the green tea with cream foam and she loved it. I had the pina colada which is so refreshing especially with the additional toppings, of jelly, boba, and pudding. Also, they are one of the few bubble tea shops that still have the coffee jelly topping. They let us taste different toppings and we loved them. The manager mentioned that their pudding topping is made from scratch. If you are in the New West area, try this place. It's a short walk from the train station. read more

If you miss the food in Southeast Asia, this is probably one of the places to head to for something close to it. I love the chicken nugget (or popcorn chicken as called in Singapore). Deep fried and crispy, it goes very well with the house garlic sauce. I also like the simple noodle soup with minced meat and egg. This place will be perfect if they also serve chili like those found in Asia. This will be one of my regular places when I have craving for Taiwanese style noodle soup and fried chicken nuggets. read more

I'm a big fan of this Bubble World location. The parking situation is slightly better here, especially late at night. It's also less crowded and quieter. I've never been disappointed with the food here (or any Bubble World location for that matter). The food is always consistent, arrives quickly and offer good value for the price. I'm a huge fan of the salty peppery chicken nuggets, but so far everything I've tried has been great. I find the service here better than the Metrotown location. Disclaimer: This review is limited to just the quality of the bubble tea. We didn't try any food options at the restaurant, and just ordered take out for the drinks. My family and I drove to Vancouver all the way from Southern California, and back home we call our bubble tea "boba" so the change in language was definitely very interesting. I've visited some of the best bubble tea spots in SoCal so my standards for bubble tea are pretty high... Bubble world was my introduction to Canadian "bubble tea." It was the nearest bubble tea spot near my cousin's place in New Westminster so we decided to give it a shot. They have a pretty roomy space and a very wide selection of drinks. I was actually surprised at how many drinks they had to offer compared to most other shops that I've been to back home. They even had Papaya Milk Tea, which I've never heard of before. Initially, I wanted to try out their green milk tea, but I ended up ordering their Osmanthus Oolong - one of my all time favorite flavors back home. I was surprised they had that option. I was so excited to try their drinks! I gotta admit though, I was a little disappointed with everything. Their Osmanthus Oolong tasted so plain, almost like the standard "gas station" black tea. The worst part was the quality of their pearls. They we're not chewy at all, and I bit through them so easily. They felt more like a sticky mush, than a chewy treat. Their pearls even had this strange "sour" aftertaste. The real test was trying out their original milk tea. My brother ordered it and I took quite a few sips to try it out. Their milk tea tasted nothing like anything I've had before - in a bad way. You couldn't taste any hint of tea at all, and it felt like all I was drinking was milk. For a place that specializes in bubble tea, I expected so much more. Maybe their food tastes better? Maybe I'll have to try out their other flavors? After my first experience, I don't plan on giving it a second chance. read more

mmm, since over 15 years ago, I think I still enjoy Bubble World since its pretty standard across the board, and the prices aren't too expensive. I usually go for my milky green tea, but decided to try a taro oreo slush for $5. If definitely had oreos in there, but, the taro was pretty weak compared to a normal taro BBT *weep*. We also shared a condensed milk toast, though this time, it was a bit more buttery, and less sweet milky goodness on it. All in all, it cost $14 for 2 BBT & milk toast, is relatively close to my home, and I don't think I've ever had problems with them. I *think* their take away menu is slightly cheaper? The service here is awful. If I were generous I would describe it as cold and indifferent. I've had the hostess walk away from my date and I without saying a word after asking for a table of two, servers who make it feel like you're imposing on them when you ask questions about the menu, and I've watched food go cold in the pass while they've chatted on the phone or fiddled with cutlery. You are made to feel like you're a minor irritation in their day. When the food eventually makes it out to you, it's pretty good. Located in downtown New Westminster, this Bubble World location is very similar to all it's other counterparts: decent food, wide selection of drinks and mediocre service. The interior is spacious and good for groups. But street parking outside is kind of limited, so be wary. Also, it's paid parking until 8pm everyday. If you've been to any other Bubble World (or any other bubble tea restaurants) the menu is basically the same. Chicken nuggets with rice, beef brisket noodle soup, dumplings, condensed milk toast, etc. The waitress forgot 2 of our drinks, but she was able to figure it out because we kept giving her glances. The restaurant closes at 12am on weekends, and by the time 11:30pm rolled around, she gave bills to every table (quite abrupt) and told us to pay. I guess they needed to reconcile their till? Anyway, not my first choice of bubble tea places. But if my friends decided to eat here before catching a movie, I wouldn't hate it. read more

I like this Bubble World considerably more than the one at Metrotown. It's surprisingly nice inside - spacious, with lots of booths (the kind of seating I always prefer) and only a few island tables (the kind of seating I dislike). The service is also quite good; attentive without going overboard. And the food is quite tasty - maybe even a bit better than at the Metrotown location. Though probably the number one thing I love about this place is that it's open late. That can be a godsend for a night-owl like me. For food dishes, I love the salty peppery chicken nuggets and the milky mountain yam hot pot. For drinks, I particularly love the Ferraro Rocher bubble tea (although I wouldn't recommend ordering it with a food order unless you're a big eater, as it's very rich and basically a meal-sized dessert unto itself.) read more

First and last time coming here. Horrible place to take your family. Terrible service and mediocre food. Waiters were fairly welcoming at first but throughout our time there, their attitude and service worsened as they messed up our orders. We waited nearly an hour for our food, just to get the wrong order. We waited 30 minutes for sweet tea, which did not seem like it would take that long. When we talked to them about it, they gave us a tough time even though we were only trying to remind them of our order. EVEN ASKING FOR ICE WAS A PROBLEM! I came here expecting a great meal with my family, and received such an unwelcoming experience. My advice to you is to save your money and NEVER COME HERE. read more

I've had a couple visits so far, and my only regret is not having given this place a try earlier! They've got a great selection of bubble teas, that's for sure. Myself and all the folks I'd come here with gave the selection and the teas themselves a big thumbs up. The food was a pretty average. Wasn't bad at all, but it didn't knock us off our feet. Still, it was good enough that both my husband and myself would come back for repeat visits. The service was a little slow, but both times I went were either on a Friday night or right at prime dinner time, so I can't accurately judge with being there while it's busy. When I was there both times they did not take credit cards - debit and cash only. Not a big deal for us, but do be aware of this when you go. I've been a fan of bubble tea for years. Having lived in Taipei for all of 2005, I was seriously pretty much addicted to those loving cups of pearly goodness and had one almost every day of that year. Fast forward to New West 5 years later, my girlfriend and I have been saying for years that a proper bubble tea place was one of the main things this up and coming city was missing - well not anymore! Though they just opened a few weeks ago, we've already been there a few times and I'm happy to report that, as long as you order only drinks, you should be very satisfied. The quality of their drinks is just as good as all their other locations are and something I'll be coming back for on a pretty regular basis. The consistency and flavour was awesome, and the pearls were just right. Too bad the same, however, can't be said about the food. Taiwanese cuisine was one of the most amazing things about living in Taipei and I was excited at the prospect of munching on some nostalgia so close to my place. Unfortunately, Bubble World did not deliver. Having tried a few things now (Kung Pao Chicken, Black Pepper Sauce with Beef, Fried Pork Cutlet) with friends, we all felt that the dishes left a lot to be desired. The black pepper beef was not bad, but quite bland - nothing like the taste bud orgasm I had come to expect from this dish. The kung pao chicken, while spicy, had very little flavour to it, and the pork cutlet was OK at best. With three strikes, I probably won't try any more food dishes, but as far as beverages go, I couldn't be happier. Welcome to New West, Bubble World! UPDATE (June 12, 2012): Ok, I've since gone back a few times and tried a few other things and their beef and egg rolls are pretty damn amazing. The only bubble tea place I know of in New West, luckily it's decent. It's pretty much like all the other bubble world locations. They have a very good selection of bubble tea, as well as food. Bubble tea wise it's pretty standard, but the food can be hit or miss. The noodle soups are delicious, but some of the small dishes can be a little bland and/or texturally odd. The prices are a little high for what you get as well. The servers can be a little abrupt , but not to the point of rudeness. It's pretty easy to catch their attention which is good. Sadly there's no loyalty card like with some bbt places, but it's okay. I'll still be back. read more

Surprisingly good. I got the salt pepper chicken with noodle soup. It smelled like Taiwan when it arrived. Always a good sign. The batter has the taiwanese 5-spice that I like. Chicken was tender, juicy, and tasty. Noodles were cooked at the right al dente level for chinese noodle soup. Service was ok. The ambience is nice. Externally, it doesn't look that promising, basically like the lower level of an office park, but it's quite nice inside. read more
