I ordered some rice dish with Taiwanese sausage, soy egg and pork - it was alright though a little too sweet and greasy for me. The fried rice is little oily for my liking, but it tasted great overall. As for the noodle, it was great in taste and the beef meat were tender and well-seasoned. Decent Taiwanese place in the strip mall by No5 and Cambie. Parking is plentiful in the lot. The inside looks fairly modern with the stone walls. Staff were friendly. They have a happy hour menu which includes a (basic) drink with a main. Not sure what their hours are for this one since the staff told us it as available at 1815. Not a bad thing though. I had the kimchi hot pot. It came with the little gel fuel pack underneath, and a bowl of rice. Decent sized portion. Of course the first thing that came to mind when I saw this was Boiling Point (arguably the standard around town). The hot pot here is decent but simply not as good (taste) as BP. The presentation is nicer here though. As of the time of writing, it is $1 more for lamb. For the drink I had their old fashion black tea (sugar fixed). In other words, can't adjust the sweetness. This cute little Taiwanese eatery is located further away from the Richmond core (no. 3 road) but is worth the trek out! My party and I came for a late lunch after hearing of a strong recommendation for our friends. Their lunch menu has a nice range of classic Taiwanese dishes - chicken nugget, Taiwanese sausage, beef noodles, mini pots etc. accompanied with a complimentary drink! I was feeling slightly under the weather so opted for a comforting Taiwanese fried rice. My plate was more like a serving for two, it loaded with big chunks of sweet sausage and frozen veggies (wasn't a big fan of the veg). The rice was made fresh, piping hot with a nice flare of 'wok hei' and rice cooked to perfect (not overly mushy, nice chew). Super happy they have online ordering so you can just go in and pick up. We ordered the beef brisket with rice - flavour was really good, beef was nice and soft and they serve it with a big portion of rice which is nice! Salty peppery chicken nugget was very good too! The flavour was on point and the chicken itself was very juicy. We also ordered the wonton noodles in soup, however for some weird reason they forgot to put noodles in the bowl... so we just got a wonton soup... we were already home by the time we realized this We also tried their milky tea slush which was good! I personally would've enjoyed it a bit sweeter but that is an option you can choose when ordering! They don't have a huge selection of food on the menu but from the times we have tried their different selection of food, it has all been very good! Price wise... They are quite busy during dinner for a Thursday. Beef noodle soup beef is very soft. The soup is good ,it's not beef bone broth kinda good, it's the seasoning and focus on soy sauce. The Typhoon chicken nuggets was really good. It's garlic marinade and doesn't taste too oily or heavy. The salt and pepper seasoning on there taste very legit like the ones you would have in Taiwan. They are a small restaurant located on Cambie and no5 road in Richmond, and they specialize in a nice variety of different Taiwanese foods. * 滷肉飯 MEAT SAUCE ON RICE ($8.45) ~ The rice portion is huge for the price. There is a good amount of meat to pair with the rice. The marinated egg was perfectly marinated. This is a good cheap and quick option to have when in a rush to eat. Its simple to eat and filling because there's a lot of rice. The have the pickled radish to garnish and its so bomb with the meat sauce and rice. * 6/10 ~ I do wish there was more sauce in the dish to coat all the rice, as it lacked in sauce and I do wish there was more meat In general. I love getting their very unique takoyaki fried rice. It has a lot of octopus, giving it a nice texture. Came here during lunch to satisfy my cravings for some bubble tea. This is a small Taiwanese restaurant with a wide variety of drink offerings similar to other typical Taiwanese shops. PSA: 15% drinks with a student ID!!! I got a mango greentea with less sugar. I didn't really have high expectations going in but liked that they used mango purée instead of straight-up syrup. Pretty standard but for $3.80 (after discount), it was quite worth. The cashier was super friendly and patient as well! I wanted beef noodle soup and bubble tea so we found this restaurant thanks to Yelp. We were seated right away. Menus were offered and we placed our order shortly afterwards. Service was a bit iffy. We had to ask our server twice for water and she dropped off cups of hot water when we were expecting cold water. I guess because we are in Richmond and most people like to drink warm water? The water tasted hint of detergent soapy. At least, the staff are cleaning their cups somewhat, but I rather not drink soapy water. Then my bowl of noodles arrived but not my date's. His bowl seem to have been forgotten as other tables were receiving their orders. We asked our server and she said they were making it. We both ordered beef noodles so why did only one bowl come out so much faster other than the order getting missed. I did enjoy the beef shank and tendons noodle soup. Beef and tendon were both tender. I love thick noodles too and the noodles had a good chew. The soup base was decent. The fresh fruit slush was the highlight. I really enjoyed my raspberry slush as it was made well with strong raspberry flavour and a hint of milk. It was so good that we got a fresh kiwi slush to go for the trip home. My partner enjoyed the slushies. The watermelon slush was refreshing but the pina colada one was a tad sweet and artificial tasting. Typhoon has closed their seating and washroom facility due to the COVID-19 pandemic and transitioned to takeout and delivery only. The staff that interacts with customers is masked and gloved at all times which makes me feel safe interacting with them. I ordered their fried chicken sandwich and milk tea with pearls (half sweet & half ice). I have ordered from here twice through Uber Eats. For the price, it is reasonable. The salt and pepper chicken nuggets is a pretty big portion and even when delivered, it still arrives crispy. I like having the nuggets with the noodles. The drinks are what you would expect at your usual Taiwanese BBT restaurant. Giant beer glass filled with bubble tea is found at Typhoon BBT. Most places now offer the brown sugar pearl milk tea and I'm slowly checking each place off. The one here is just average but you do get more than what you'd pay for elsewhere. I also tried their Typhoon specialty chicken nuggets which has some lemon juice and other spices other than salt & pepper (according to the server). The chicken was deep fried very nicely; light and crunchy but I prefer the regular salt & pepper taste. Also got their Taiwanese sausage to share. I didn't quite like it. It's on the sweet side. I am beyond livid that the white rice I ordered on the side has pork and sauced mixed into it. Nowhere in their menu did it state that the rice would be serve like so and I have never been served rice from them like this before from them as well. I phoned in and asked them what they can do about this and her response was for me to come back now and exchanged it for plain white rice which was not an option for me because I spent half my lunch getting there. Her only other suggestion was to tell them that I wanted rice without the pork next time because asking for a side of plain white rice wasn't sufficient. Came here with the family since my mom was intrigued to see a Taiwanese place open up in the area as she read through their mail-in coupons. The coupons were for ordering a select dish and getting a free bubble tea for it. We came here on the Father's day weekend to try it out and at first they sat us by a table by the window but asked if we could move to another one, which was fine as we were just ushered to our seat but one of the seats at the new table that they moved us to was extremely dirty with food bits all over it which we were going to just sweep off but when we pulled out the chairs for one side, there was food all over the floor; at least a handful of rice grains and pieces of meat all scattered the floor. We asked the staff if they could either clean it up or let us move back to our previous table and they opted for the latter. (This review is getting the two star because shortly after us, another family came into the restaurant and they sat the family at the same dirty table without cleaning up even after we had informed them. Perhaps the family were too busy with their small children to notice the mess on the floor but there must have been food stuck onto the bottom of their shoes when they left!) Pretty gross in my personal opinion but I guess to each guest their own. The coupons are limited one per person and not per table so we used two. We got to try out the Taiwanese beef noodle soup and the Typhoon Chicken Nuggets. Personally loved the chicken nuggets! They put pickled Taiwanese vegetables and lemon on the chicken nuggets so if you're more of a fan of the authentic taiwanese chicken nuggets that are tossed with fried basil leaves, would not recommend trying the Typhoon Chicken Nuggets. The plate size is good for sharing but I was the only one that really liked the dish. It wasn't what my family was expecting. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup is rather average but the meat pieces are very tender. My brother got the chicken fried rice which comes in a small plate. The chicken is just regular chicken as opposed to Taiwanese style nuggets. They've got late night drink specials here as well as student discounts. Overall, wasn't too impressed with the service as a group of people came in near the end of our meal. It seemed like they had a pretty big reservation and that the reasoning for the staff moving us to the dirty table initially was to accommodate this reservation as they pretty much took over the whole restaurant (leaving only two empty tables). Thankfully, we were almost done but I would have felt extremely claustrophobic and rushed to finish my meal as this large group hovered over table. Not the customers' fault but more of how the staff said yes to the booking and did not account for how the table arrangements would be made and they were definitely not ready to host such reservation as there was only one waitress for the whole place. Also, the dirty chair I could have let slide as well as the floor, if the staff made an effort to clean up but the fact that she was just idling for a bit before the other family came irritates me a little as she could have cleaned up the area for them. She was very informed that the area was dirty but made no effort to clean up and even sat another party there... Don't think I'll be back here, coupons or no coupons. Our family actually has four people and we only used two so... this doesn't seem like a newly opened place as I saw older reviews and there are many other Taiwanese restaurants in Richmond that I feel can execute a little better. read more

For only around 9 dollars, this was a great deal and tasty too. Their typhoon chicken is different from others with a distinct taiwanese marinade but a crispy breading crunch similar to churchs chicken! I came here because I was at the Ikea, and picked one of the closest BBT joints. There weren't many reviews, but the ones that were there were pretty highly rated, so I figured,"Hell, what have I got to lose?" I'll tell you what I had to lose... wasted calories on subpar BBT. At least the pearls tasted good, but I ordered my usual - almond milk tea, and this one tasted... weird. This is a pretty new place in the Shoppers plaza on #5 @ cambie. It took over the bakery that was there before. Ambiance: Pretty empty tonight, Taiwanese music, fairly similar to other bubble tea joints. Nice comfy chairs, and it's clean. Really great staff too. Food: I got the typhoon chicken plus noodles. The chicken is like LA Chicken across the street and was a good sized portion. Great breading, very tender and most chicken. Delicious. Noodles were nothing special though. Average at best. Wife got the beef noodle soup. Thicker noodles than mine, tasted great and not too spicy (but we asked for less spicy). Pearl milk tea didn't have enough tea taste but the pearls were cooked really well and were very sweet. Wife's passion fruit green tea was excellent. Didn't even need to tell them to put less sugar. I ordered the milky hotpot, Taiwanese fried nuggets and spicy tofu on rice as well as gyozas, I'd say half of the dishes didn't turn out as tasty as I had hoped. The tofu didn't taste right and I was less than thrilled to finish it, the milk hotpot was nothing special either but not terrible. I've definitely had better ones elsewhere though. I'd recommend the staff to try similar dishes from other restaurants' and try to improve their recipes while tasting what they cook too. read more

Whoever rated this 4 stars or higher is a lier. This is a true review and this place is horrible. When we went on October 30th ( very recent ), my friend had this Chinese groupon which most of the customers use. Before, when the Chinese groupon was first distributed, it was sold for $9.99 Canadian and it included a variety of dishes and a drink. On the site, you can pay by card, but over by Typhoon BBT, they only accept cash. So that's already an inconvenience for most people, especially for us since we often use card. To add on, when we went there for the first time the service was ok at best. ( look in google reviews on google for more service information) We told them that we wanted to use the groupon an they said ok, so we let them scan it. From the beginning, they said that the entire food section of the menu we can order and for the drink portion of the groupon, it was limited to the milk tea section in the drink menu on the third to last page of the menu. So we ordered, then my friends hot pot came while I ate the Taiwanese sausage fried rice. Then our drinks came, we were impressed at first for the price of the groupon and that we can order anything on the entire menu. So we bought a bunch of groupons. Then about 4 days later, we went there again. We used the same Chinese groupon, then this woman came to us with this mean attitude and said that we cannot order anything on menu only the first page, even though on the groupon it said the entire menu. This is FALSE ADVERTISING. We complained, but they turned their head away. Most people only went there because of the groupon. We realized that the people next to us only came because of the groupon too! Also they give the bill to you before your food arrives, shouldn't the bill arrive AFTERWARDS??!!They are a very horrible place any you waste your time there.
