We stopped here twice on our Breaux Bridge trip. 4 stars is for the dinner on the 1st night. We had excellent service and cocktails from Shanille. The 2nd stop was during the Zydeco Breakfast on a Saturday morning and I would leave 1 star for that experience. People lining up outside before they open at 0800 and then there is a $10.00 cover charge per person. The music was good but a little too loud (if it's too loud, you're too old). Skip the endless mimosas. They're mixed up in pitchers diluted with a ton of ice and then poured into your cup. The food was atrocious - all our orders came out cold and the biscuits were hockey pucks. They automatically add 20% gratuities to all checks. $160.00 breakfast for 4? Never again. read more

Went eat tonight as a family. 4 adults. Arrived at 5:17 pm. We were sat very quickly, then took about 8 minutes for the waitress to come get our drink order. Drinks took rather long to come. Ordered Swamp Sticks as an appitizer. It was cheese covered garlic bread sticks. Pretty good. Waitress came back to take order. She seemed upset or angry about somthing and when asked for opinions about two dishes stated "she was the wrong person to ask." My mother ordered fried shrimp and mash potatoes, myself, the chicken Atchafalaya, my son, 14" Pepperoni pizza, my father fried catfish. We all shared our food, and we agreed. My food review: My pasta was a bland greasy bowl. It lacked any seasoning other than salt and smoked sausage grease. Angel hair Pasta was overcooked and it turned to mush. I ate about 1/4. My mothers shrimp tasted too fishy, like a processing plant, batter was not seasoned but salty, if that makes sense. Potatoes, salty. She ate two shrimp and one bite of mash potatoes. Dads fried fish and steemed vegetables were good. Now to my sons pizza. My 17yo is a pizza addict. He literally eats pizza almost every day. Hunts Bros gas station pizza to be exact. He ate 1 slice. We each tried it at his urging. It was awful. The sauce had a strong red wine taste, the cheese was low quality and the crust was soggy under toppings and break your teeth hard crust. It was the only item we brought to the waitresses attention as it was $30.34 and inedible. The waitress agreed after touching the crust and brought it to the manager. Well, I guess 4 slices missing out of a giant pizza made it not eligible to be removed from the bill, but we would recieve a discount. Over 3/4 still on pan when thrown by waitress. We tried this restaurant out for the first time for my husband's birthday. We visited on a Friday night, so there was live music, which was nice. We were seated quickly, even as a party of 5. We found out they do take reservations, but not online - you have to call. The kids ordered pizzas (2 ordered from the kids menu - cheese pizza- and one from the regular menu -Margherita Pizza ). They all enjoyed their pizza. I ordered a Watermelon Basil drink (delicious!! Light and refreshing!) and my husband ordered a ranch water. For the appetizer, we had the spinach and artichoke dip, which was great. For entrees, I had the crab cakes with a side Caesar and veggies. My husband ordered the filet, Caesar salad, and the loaded mashed potatoes. We both enjoyed the Caesar salad (lots of Parmesan!), but we did not like the veggies or potatoes. The veggies seemed like they were from a bag of frozen vegetables. The mashed potatoes were dry and too salty. The filet was delicious and cooked as requested (medium rare). The crab cakes were good, but a little spicy for my taste. I liked that they did not scrimp on the crab like some places do (by mixing in lots of filler). I think I would try the pasta if I returned. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and my husband got to choose a free dessert for his birthday. He chose the brownie, which was a generous portion that we were all able to share. It was delectable! I think I would come back again to try out their Zydeco breakfast, which they are known for. Had a banquet event for 75+ish people at Buck and Johnny's yesterday 2/28/26. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful this experience was from booking, to menu planning, to set up. The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful! So often at banquets of this size, you run out of food. Not here! The event was extremely well staffed, and our every need was well tended, and our guests raved at how well we were taken care of. After the event, we went next store to the bar and enjoyed the wonderful live music and tremendous atmosphere. I cannot recommend this venue enough! Perfect for banquets or just a good time! Seated right away. Waited on right away. Ordered side salad. Served with rotten small tomatoes. Grilled chicken plate was bland and dry as were the sweet potato fries and veggies. Pizza wasn't bad but it was dry as well needed more sauce. The highlight was the bread that came on the salad. After we told the waitress the grilled chicken was not good, the fries were bland as were the veggies, and she could see the wife was no longer eating it after a few bites, she apologized but when the bill came, she charged full price. It's pretty because it used to be the local car repair or auto mechanic shop back in the day and they've kept the big garage door ! The food is reasonably priced. We ordered the garlic bites with marinara, club sandwich with fries (delicious but the menu says Texas toast and it was actually thin sandwich bread), the B&J burger which was very good and giant (only $10.99!), and the Pasta Breaux Bridge (chicken & tasso cream sauce & penne pasta). Wanted something different from my usual go to restaurant when I'm in town visiting my mom. Restaurant is in a cute old brick building with tons of metal signs. Service was excellent. It was refreshing to be seated promptly and greeted within 5 min of sitting down. I'm so used to staffing shortages and slow service. I started off with soup of day, corn and crab chowder. It was delicious and the roasted corn is a nice touch. I ordered the Étouffée/fried fish wrap with French fries and my mom ordered the special which was Étouffée and fried fish over a bed of rice with a roll and potato salad. They were basically the same dish but we loved them both. We ended our dinner with bobash cake. It was so good it reminded me of a little debbies Swiss cake roll. Now, down to the food - I had an omelette - I'd say stick with the Cajun cuisine as the others having the grits and crawfish Etouffe were much more pleased. This was our second visit to Buck and Johnny's and it was so much better than the last time. We went to the Zydeco Breakfast on Saturday morning. Let me say, if you want to immerse yourself in true Cajun culture, do the breakfast! I had Trouble Water. Grits with crawfish etouffee and my partner ordered an omelette. We also went for the bottomless mimosas. The food was exceptional. Everything was fresh and delicious. To make it even better we were able to dance to the tunes of a Zydeco band. Talk about festive! We went to Buck and Johnny's twice while we were in the area. We had lunch the first time. We sat at the bar as we often do and even though there was no one else at the bar we enjoyed a delightful conversation with the young bartender who was born and raised in the town. My husband was craving pizza so he ordered the white pizza for one topped with garlic cream sauce, spinach, mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes. It was the lunch special that came with a salad and a drink. I wasn't hungry so I just ordered a drink and stole a small slice of his pizza. The pizza itself was delicious and had a light crispy crust, unfortunately they must have been out of fresh mushrooms because there were canned mushrooms in their place. That's a big no no for me. Since it wasn't my pizza I didn't say anything, my husband is less picky than me. We returned for dinner on Saturday when they had live music. The place was pretty packed so we opted again to sit at the bar where we could get seats faster. On this visit my husband had yet another good old fashioned, they are not always made properly. On this visit he also ordered the Zydeco gumbo which he enjoyed. I opted for a cup of the crab portobello Brie soup and a spinach salad. The soup was lacking in crab and portobello for my taste and thinner than I expected. The salad however was very good. Fresh spinach, fresh mushrooms, red onion, candied walnuts, feta and dressed with a cane syrup vinaigrette, yummy. The music was good and I even danced on song before we left. read more

After going on a Cajun Country Swamp Tour, one of the guys had told us that we had to try Buck and Johnny's for their unique cajun pizzas. I ordered the Bayou Blast pizza and the Crawfish Enchilada. I was not sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! What makes the Bayou Blast Pizza so unique is that it contains alligator sausage, shrimp, and crawfish. We lucked into Buck and Johnny's after a long, hot day where we just happened to end up in Breaux Bridge. The first impression is of a great interior design of gas-station chic. We were served by a friendly staff person and had a cold beer and not-too-sweet iced tea. Dinner was absolutely delicious and well above my expectations! The pecan-sauce chicken appetizer was crispy outside, moist inside, and the pecan dressing was just sweet enough and not poured with a heavy hand. My spinach side salad also exceeded expectations--crisp spinach, feta cheese, candied pecans, onions, mushrooms--all with a yummy cane sugar dressing. My husband's gumbo was delicious. We enjoyed an excellent meal, well served and made with expertise and love. Highly recommended! read more

First, head's up, the prices have gone up significantly since the first menu pics were put on here. I am posting updated menus. The restaurant has a fun vibe and they have live music on Saturdays. It seems to be a really fun place to go for drinks and music if you are in the area. We saw the prices were a bit higher than we expected, so we ended up getting a pizza. Being a cheese lover, I never ever thought I would say a pizza had too much cheese. All I could taste was cheese, and it made the pizza too heavy to eat without a fork. The crust simply could not handle it. I cannot imagine why anyone would ever choose the "extra cheese" option. The pizza was okay, but I wouldn't get it again. We'd heard great things about this place, so we were a bit disappointed. We'd definitely try something else next time. It's a cute restaurant though with a really fun vibe. read more

We went to Buck and Johnny's last night at the suggestion of our Airbnb host and were pleasantly surprised. There was live music- country songs- and the customers seemed to really enjoy it, most of the couples were up and slow dancing to song after song. There were two separate rooms- the one with the live music and the one in the back with the bar that was a lot more relaxed and casual. We thought we wanted to be in the room with the music but we couldn't even hear each other after we sat down so we moved to the back room. They have discounts or themes everyday and Thursday's theme is two free glasses of wine per purchase of entree. We ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled shrimp and crab cakes. I was not expecting the pasta to be so spicy but it was still really delicious and not too heavy as Alfredo pasta can sometimes be. The crab cakes were also spicy but less so than the pasta--also very good. We enjoyed the desserts and needed a container to go as they are so filling! You can really taste the bananas in the cheesecake and the hints of chocolate were really tasty in the dobash. The servers were attentive and not overbearing. We were visiting the area and were tipped off about this place by the landlord. Zydeco breakfast? Don't ask just go. I'm not sure of they have it every day but we were here on a saturday morning and arrived slightly before 11 to find the place packed and rocking to some cool zydeco. We had a party of four and were quickly seated in the adjacent bar area after we made the cover charge. Dancing, loud music, good food and a great bloody mary were all timely and delicious. Staff and service was friendly and knowledgable. Facility was well decorated and clean. The crowd was a good mix of young, old and mixed ethnicity. I would definitely go back to this place...
