The reviews of this place absolutely need to be updated , because my experience has been an absolute blast here. Me and my girls came on Karaoke night and it definitely did not disappoint at all. I came today to support the food truck prior to the restaurant opening. The sign was lit and the window was open. However no one was there. I waited around 10 minutes and walked around looking for anyone and nothing. It was hot as hell out and not happy. Went back to my car with AC and gave a few more minutes. Still nothing and left. I debated on whether to write and decided to. All they had to do was turn the light off. Others were coming and going with no one to service. The food truck has been operating a few months and I've seen business. The restaurant will be reopening next month after a fire closed them down more than a year ago. It's taken them much longer than necessary in my opinion to come back after hiring gypsy labor. They have had reported issues for months with city permits. On a side note a gypsy workers truck caught fire in the parking lot yesterday. Hopefully I can update after the reopening, but I'm not rushing. read more

I went 2 weeks in a row on Saturday because I had so much fun singing karaoke with Jesse. However despite the fact that the karaoke side had more people than the other side of the bar, there was no bartender checking on us or cleaning up our empty beer bottles. I literally had to go to the other side and wait while the bartenders talked and were on the phones before I could get another drink. I probably would have spent at least another $30 if they were on top of things. The tables were so full of trash that Jesse was cleaning them up while also running an amazing show. I've been to the restaurant once and the food was decent during that time. I've tried ordering them on Uber eats a few times and the food was absolutely disgusting. The fish soft tacos had this green toothpaste tasting goo on it, iceberg lettuce instead of shredded lettuce, and shredded cheddar and no mango salsa. So the food I received didn't match the description at all. The mashed potatoes tasted like they microwaved it for 15 secs. And they never include silverware. This place flat out sucked. Food was overdone and chewy. Took over 30 minutes to make chicken strips that were like freaking rubber, a quesadilla for my kids and some crappy overpriced side of fries. I made two visits to Bucketheads recently. First visit was in stage 3 of reopening, and honestly I was horrified by the number of drunk young people crowding into the space without masks, but I was completely starving, it was late, and everyone else locally that I wanted to go to seemed to be closed at 8P, so I said "eff it". At least the servers were wearing masks? We ordered wings and the burger special, and both were amazing...then we got the hell out of dodge. Second visit was about a week or two later, after Gov Northam had mandated the in-house sale of alcohol was to end at 10P and restaurants to close at 12a. We had just returned from the Eastern Shore at about 10:30P, and once again we were starving. Expecting more of the same tomfoolery, we walked into Bucketheads and found a completely different situ...ghost town. Drunk young people crowding into our personal spaces were nowhere to be found. We sat at a bar high top, ordered our hot wings (which were super good yet again), drank our ice waters like the understanding, compliant customers we were (even through we could've used a nice cold one after a day of driving), and went on our happy way. Takeaways: they seem to have gotten their act together in the time of COVID, and damn, their food is good. There is plenty of outdoor seating available if that helps make you more comfortable dining out right now. Highly recommend their hot wings along with the plethora of innovative sauces! read more

We tried this place while visiting Virginia Beach for an early evening dinner. Luckily we had a Groupon..: I am glad we did. The food was very basic at best. 1 person ordered a flounder BLT, which was the only 1 who really liked their meal. 2 people ordered chicken quesadillas which were not that great, the mashed potatoes were good with this meal. 1 person ordered a burger medium which was more like well done. The fries tasted like they were fried in the fish oil. The waitress was not good at all. She offered no meal suggestions and acted like she was looking out in left field most of the time . Okay so usually I will walk out of place if it's empty during a normally busy time. We came at lunch on a Saturday and it was empty except for people at the bar. I was hungry so we stayed. The place feels "sticky" and has fallen into disrepair. My waitress had a mask on but it was tucked under her chin. This bar is probably in my opinion the best bar in the area. Best happy hours, the wings are AMAZING. The atmosphere, people, and bar tenders are great. I've only been coming for a week and the bartenders already know what I want before I sit down. Did I mention the happy hour is the best?? You can't beat their happy hour. I'm not sure how anyone can say this is the best food in VB. We ordered waters, and when the waitress refilled mine, she took it to the wrong table and never realized it. We ordered chicken nachos which tasted like the microwave kind I used to make as a kid with just cheese on tortilla chips. I got the steamed shrimp, which were far over done. My husband got the bucket burrito, but it had watery enchilada sauce on top and was filled with nothing but burnt chicken. This was my first time coming to Bucketheads after passing it for years. My friends and I came for drinks and crab legs. They have awesome specials throughout the week and yesterday (Thursday) is when they have 1.5lb of crab legs PLUS two sides for $19.99. Such a good deal and the crab was packed full of meat and soo good. They also have their buckets for $8 which is an everyday great deal because who doesn't love large quantities of liquor and juice for a cheap price! The atmosphere of this place is really fun, it was obvious that everyone, even the staff was having a great time being there last night which is always something you wanna see and be apart of. Went in last Friday night. Best thing I can say about this place is thank goodness the bartender made our second round of margaritas stronger. We were not greeted when we walked in. It's a casual place so that's understandable but a sign saying welcome and please seat yourself would have been helpful. The server was friendly and attentive at first. We both ordered the mango chicken dinner with 2 sides. The food was incredibly bland, the broccoli was unseasoned and barely cooked, and the portion size of both our chicken breasts were laughably small. When the server finally came back 10-15 minutes after delivering the food I asked the if this was the normal size for a $14 meal. She said yes but would bring out another piece which we appreciated. Unfortunately, after taking a bite of the new chicken breast we discovered it was still raw. Please see the pictures for actual portion size and the raw piece. We were told there was no manager on duty (unacceptable for a Friday night) but she would go talk to someone. Thankfully they did the right thing and comped both of our meals without us asking. The server apologized many times and explained there were new cooks working. We did feel bad for the server as she was trying her best. Talked with the group next to us and they had a similar experience and were served under cooked fish. And half their group was finished eating before the other half received their food. It seems like incredibly poor ownership and a complete lack of management is to blame. read more

If I could rate 0 stars I would. We came here for burgers and ordered them "medium"- they were very well done and actually burnt. Our appetizers came the same time as our food and even the wings and mozzarella sticks were not good. The Mac and cheese was essentially ziti noodles in a bowl of lukewarm milk with some shredded cheese on top. On the menu my burger said it came with a pickle and when I asked about it- the staff said it didn't come with one but they would get me one... Well I double checked their menu and it does indeed list it but I still never got one!! We overheard the staff talking about how a bunch of people called out/quit which could maybe explain for why it was such a bad experience. After driving past Bucketheads all summer, we decided to give it a try for happy hour. We love a good dive bar and are really understanding about the limitations all businesses have following COVID, but this was an experience that the ownership should be aware of. First, the bar did not have any fruit for drinks and our drinks were served in plastic Dixie cups. Not sure if this was a happy hour thing, but we've never been served drinks this way. Second, we ordered mozzarella sticks because apps are half off on Thursdays. Not a single mozzarella stick had cheese in them. Without making a big deal, we asked for our check, left without finishing our drinks and left the empty mozzarella stick shells in the basket.
