We had a big list of potential places to try when we came for our weeklong family trip. After an afternoon of being a the beach the family was super hungry. My girlfriend and her mom picked bubba's out of our list of about 20. We got there alittle early for dinner. That was a blessing because it got really busy right as we were finishing up. Our servicer was really friendly and helpful. Service speed was just slightly under average. I wish i took pictures of the food because it was all really good. Kids got the steamed clams ( twice) , clam chowder and ceaser salad. It must of been good because it was gone quickly. My girlfriends parents got oyster rockafeller and the fried shrimp dinner. The oyster rockafeller i was told was the best hes had. The shrimp dinner looked amazing and it was more than she could eat. My girlfriend got the stuffed halibut and frys... fish looked great and she said it was good. Frys were of the beer battered type. I ordered a half dozen of raw local clams... id say above average. She crab soup (first time trying it ... so i have no other to compare too), but i liked it . I also got the greek salad that i would have called average. The atmosphere and weather were beautiful. Bubba's offers one of the best waterfront dining atmospheres in Virginia Beach. Sitting outside overlooking the water was absolutely beautiful and made for a relaxing evening. We started with the she crab soup and the half-pound of steamed shrimp, and both were outstanding. The she crab soup was rich and flavorful, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked and absolutely drool-worthy. My boyfriend ordered the grilled salmon, and after trying a bite, I have to admit I was a little jealous--it was phenomenal! I ordered the scallops with peppers, onions, and cucumbers. The scallops themselves were cooked perfectly, but the cucumber flavor just wasn't for me. That's purely a personal preference, not a reflection of the quality. My biggest disappointment was the coleslaw, which seemed more like lightly shredded lettuce with a drizzle of Marzetti's dressing than traditional coleslaw. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the food or the view. We waited quite a while before anyone acknowledged our table, and after our order was taken, we never saw our server again until the check arrived. There were no drink refills, no check-in to see how our meals were, and no thank you at the end. Overall, Bubba's has some incredible food and an unbeatable waterfront atmosphere, but the inconsistent service and a couple of underwhelming menu items kept it from being a great experience. While in VA Beach we had a craving for some fresh seafood. Bubba's while highly recommended. We arrive a little after 6 and put our name on the waitlist to eat outside on the deck. We waited at the bar and had some great local beer! About 20 mins later, we weee seated. It took about 12-15 mins to get a server after we were sat. The overall service left a lot to be desired (bartender was great). We ordered a half pound of steam shrimp and it was excellent. They shrimp were large and fresh. We also got a cup of their she crab soup, which was absolutely amazing. For our mains I ordered the catch of the day flounder. They didn't have a blackened option so I got it broiled it blackened seasoning non top. The fish was excellent, the slaw was not good. The scallops were amazing and cooked perfectly. Overall, the atmosphere was great but it was amazing madhouse. We never got a refill and the service wasn't great. The food was a 10/10 overall. read more

I had a great experience at Bubba's Crabhouse & Seafood Restaurant when we stopped in for lunch on April 18. The atmosphere is relaxed and coastal, and the food absolutely delivered, fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want from a classic seafood spot. I went with my partner and in-laws and they had a great time too. One of the highlights is their crushes, they really do serve the cocktail of the town with tons of options to choose from. Perfect pairing for a laid-back lunch by the water with views of boaters coming and going. Another highlight is the she-crab soup. It is award-winning for a reason. Just a heads up: parking can be a bit tricky since it's shared with a nearby restaurant and a boat ramp, so plan a few extra minutes. Totally worth it once you're seated though. Got on the list to sit outside, we waited 40 minutes then went back and kindly asked to be seated first available because it was taking long & they took my number so I had my ringer on loud & every thing! No joke a couple went inside came out & sat by us and asked how long we been waiting and we said about 45 minutes next thing you know not even 10 min they get called in. Soooo good!!! We only came here for drinks but because it was still nice out, we opted to sit outside and have a few drinks. We ended up having the whole back patio to ourselves. Had a good afternoon church meal at Bubbas and their food was very good. I got the fried cod and mushrooms stuffed with crab meat. The crab meat mushrooms were excellent with lemon juice. The fried fish was pretty good to and tasted like salty cookies. Service was good, my server brought my food within a reasonable time and was very friendly and nice during my time there. I like the ambience of the place as well because it feels like a nice place to watch the water and see what is happening in the bay. My recommendation would be that this place is good for a nice date or hangout with someone. read more

The service was welcoming and hostess was great, he presented a warm smile and very pleasant and took care of our needs and took his time to go over the specials and everything. The view and atmosphere was beautiful sitting on the water and visual of the boats, the decor was nice. There were so many different choices I didn't know how to decide. I ordered four different things lol but I didn't get a picture of the crab cakes or steamed shrimp but they were okay, the fried calamari ((delicious) streamed shrimp (delicious) oysters (delicious). This review is on the restaurant manager not the servers or food. We had a 30 person lunch pre paid and scheduled there. All appetizers and entrees were already paid for in full. When we showed up 6 people dropped out of our party. Even though the meals were paid for in full already, the restaurant manager claimed it was "against policy" to bring out the food we already paid for since the clients were there. They also stated that we could not take the missing 6 people's meals that were paid for already to go. Luckily the servers realized how ridiculous it was and brought us the meals. The ambiance and scenery are everything. You can sit right on the water, take in the view, and just enjoy the vibes. Inside, the restaurant is spotless (which I pay close attention to), and the service matched the environment, friendly and attentive. The happy hour and drink specials were amazing. I went for a catch-up with one of my homegirls, and we ordered some drinks and appetizers to share. I'm a total sucker for calamari, and Bubba's did not disappoint. The drinks were on point, strong to feel it, but not overdone. To top it all off, I was lucky enough to catch a few dolphins swim by while we were eating. The crab cake sandwich needs work. I didn't even eat half of it. Just had no taste at all. However, my family had the rock fish and mahi. I tried both and they were delicious. Best crab cakes I had all trip! I got them broiled and they tasted so fresh. Unfortunately they didn't have the whole crab Jimmies when we went, so my partner got the soft shell crab instead and seemed to enjoy it. The service was also quick and attentive, and handled our large group (including some kiddos) with grace. We went to bubba's for a work dinner on a Wednesday. There is a parking lot that is shared with other businesses but it was plenty big. It was beautiful outside so I expected the restaurant to be busier but it wasn't. We walked in and got a table by the window. We ordered stuffed mushrooms and honestly they were the best thing I had - full of crab and seasoned well. The cole slaw was really unique - crunchy and fresh. You mix in the sauce yourself so you can adjust as you prefer. The fries were really good (crispy and well cooked), but definitely needed some salt and pepper. The crab cakes were ALL crab which is awesome. I wish they had a little more seasoning but that's just a personal preference. They have a great selection of fish and crab, so if you want seafood you should definitely check this place out! read more

Sat at the bar tonight and ordered a salad then a she crab soup and then a pound of shrimp and bartender brought all 3 out at the same time 3 minutes later. Bartender didn't realize it would come out that fast but any waiter or bartender should know to put in one thing at a time. So I then had to rush and eat all the lukewarm warm food before it went completely cold and then my salad. Will not come back here there are plenty of other great seafood places. read more

The food was scrumptious. This is my first time, trying a soft shell crab, and it was cooked to perfection. I love the crispiness of the crabs and the flavor was exceptional. My waitress was so helpful and professional. I did not have to wait long for my food which was a major plus. Now the food was delicious, but the ambience was perfect. This restaurant overlooks the water and I enjoyed every moment of it. I will definitely be returning because there's so much that I would like to try. My drink was adorable with a little duck inside. Used to have the best drinks and service. Really went downhill. I even had my rehearsal dinner here back in June 2014 since I loved it so much. Got a crush and it tasted so bitter asked for a different one with it still more than half full was told I could have another drink, but still had to pay for both. So how do you know if a drink is good if you can't try it. Really sad even sent the manager to speak to me like a I was a little kid that needs a lecture about it. So sad my favorite place no longer. We took advantage of a beautiful October afternoon and came here and sat outside. They do have indoor dining too. We were sat right away. Keep in mind that if you sit closest to the water the speakers are right above you and the music is loud. Yes....I am showing my age. I do wish it wasn't quite so loud but I am not old enough to complain.....yet. :) Lots of seafood options and lots of fresh fish. The menu is small and not super casual. Meaning that there are no tacos, nachos etc. I had my heart set on fish tacos but there were none. I did get the shrimp cocktail and a baked potato. Others got a meal with 2 sides. She chose halibut. And the other person got a crab cake sandwich with fries or coleslaw. FYI...if you like orange crushes with crushed ice this is not the place. Our waitress was very nice although it took awhile for our food to come out. Everything was good....no complaints. The presentation of the shrimp was mehhhh. But I did love how the coleslaw was served. It looked really nice. Beautiful views. And they have daily specials like Ladies Night on Tuesdays with $3 champagne and on Wednesday they have $6 Crushes and Sangria. Went to Bubba's Seafood Restaurant and had a frustrating experience right from the start. The hostess greeted us, but the guy up front completely ignored us despite clearly seeing us walk in. No acknowledgment, no communication--just stood there. Once a line started forming, he suddenly began seating others before us. When I finally spoke up, he barely paid attention, came off rude, had to grab my own menus, and ended up seating us like it was an inconvenience. Really poor and unprofessional service. It's a random day in the first week of March. The first day that the sun has shown in what felt like two weeks. We walked into Bubbas and were warmly greeted and immediately seated. Desperate for the fresh air and the site of boats on the water we asked for outdoor seating. It's a perfect day. The wind was light and the chill that we had been feeling for the past few months was gone. We ordered drinks; I got a mule that was exceptional. I had asked for extra citrus and the bartender didn't disappoint. My husband ordered a beer. The menu was full of great choices. We ended up ordering lightly fried shrimp, steamed shrimp and calamari. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Our server was very attentive and seemed happy to see us. After we ate we sat on a bench just below the main deck and watched the birds, the boats and the water. We celebrated the beginning of the season and got excited for what was to come. read more

My wife and her friend went to lunch for her friends birthday on 06/15/26 in the afternoon. The manager on duty was very inconsiderate. The crab cake was not feasible and was in a hard shell and had a crust on top and was not edible to my wife.The crab cakes that my wife has always ordered are always shell free and soft and edible. When it was brought to the manager's attention her response was "this is not a taste test" even though my wife just broke the shell and did not even eat the crab cake. The manager insisted on making my wife pay for the crab cake even though it had not even been eaten or tested. The crab cake had not even been eaten. Also, the cole slaw was just shredded cabbage with no carrots and some sauce. My wife simply wanted something else as a replacement, a common occurrence at any restaurant. My wife simply paid for the meal and walked out with no argument or disturbance. This manager's arrogant attitude and unwillingness to oblige a simple customer request will definitely cause my wife or myself to never return to this establishment and to ensure that this is shared with everyone I know that if you go to Bubba's seafood you are on your own if you order something that is not prepared to spec that you are expected to pay for it and either eat it or just leave it because in the words of the arrogant manager, " this is not a taste test." If I could give it less than one star I would definitely do so. This will be my wife's first and last visit as well as mine, even though I have not been to this "house of arrogance" where apparently the management staff feels they are better than a customer making a legitimate request. I have worked in retail sales management for most of my adult life and worked part time in restaurant dine in service and this is definitely not the way you treat a paying customer with a simple legitimate request. Word of mouth goes a long way so stand by. read more
