    Lumpia

Stopped in for lunch after a morning swimming in the ocean at Virginia Beach. I had a 1/2 rack of ribs, the pork meat entree, and an order of lumpia. Sides were fries and coleslaw. The restaurant was clean and neat. I sat inside but the do have some outside seating. The server was quick to come to the table and brought my water and draft beer fairy soon after ordering. There were a few other people eating as well. It doesn't appear that they smoke their meat and lean into brines and topical seasoning. The ribs were nowhere near "fall off the bone" as a knife and strong arms were needed to separate them. The pork was cool when served and again had no smoked taste. Fries and coleslaw average. The lumpia tased nice, but were small and fairly thin. Seems like a nice enough place I was here once before for a John Prine tribute on his birthday). Total before tip for what I had and another 1/2 rack came in just shy of $90.

    $8/ tap beers?
    Dan J.

$8/ tap beers are a little steep for me. They have great live music just always a little loud for me and hard to have a conversation without yelling, but good if you're there to dance a little bit. Fish and chips are great and my go to meal. I'll come here to eat, not to drink with the beer prices. It's a good crowd of mostly 40 plus patrons.

3 stars ONLY for Rueben sandwich... I've been dozens of times, primarily to listen to the live entertainment tonight was the third time I've eaten there, I'm learning their portions are very small. The Rueben would more accurately be described as a sauerkraut sandwich with corned beef flavor...stick with their barbecue or burgers. Service is always 5 stars. Bartenders are attentive. I like the live entertainment at the place, I've seen a good act or two here.

Brisket sandwich and fries as it was served

Honestly, I don't know why I keep coming back. Service was ok when gal stayed off her phone. Ordered Capt. and Diet. It wasn't Captain Morgan nor Diet Coke.....The food..... ordered the brisket sandwich with fries. The bread was burnt and you could count the fries that came out. I can't believe that the cooks would send it out burnt. That sandwich was $15.00. Not worth it.

This place is AMAZING. I came here with a large party (my family) to see the Michael Clark Band and the appetizer's were SO good. If you just want something light...pair a cold Bud Lite alone with their fried catfish bites, lumpia AND flavorful wings. The atmosphere of this place was bomb and our writer was even better. She came and checked on us every 5 minutes and she made sure our drinks were filled. I'll be back for sure!!!!

    Blues band on Wednesday

This is a fun little joint which has great barbecue and frequently has fabulous live music. The interior is clean and open with fun frog decorations. Service is usually prompt. The smoked chicken is amazing--flavorful and very tender. We've also enjoyed the ribs and Beyond Burger. The cornbread is fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the Mac and cheese but my dining partner felt it was heavy. The green beans were a little over cooked and underwhelming. I also didn't enjoy the crab hash as much as I thought I would. They often have good desserts. We've tended to come on Wed nights when they have rotating traveling blues bands or a local blues jam, all of which have been great fun, and they've had some really great bands come through. Occasionally people are inspired to get up and dance. There is a small outdoor patio for warmer weather. We'll continue to come here for great food and live music!

The weather was gloomy, but the vibes inside were warm, welcoming, and exactly what you want when you're trying to escape the rain for a bit. It has that charming farm-to-table feel, inviting, and full of good energy. Service was quick and genuinely great, especially for a Sunday. Our server was friendly, attentive, and kept things moving without making us feel rushed, which I always appreciate during brunch hours. Drinks came out fast, food followed shortly after, and everything felt smooth and well paced. The menu is full of options that really lean into fresh, seasonal ingredients. You can tell they care about quality of their food. Lots of comfort classics with elevated twists, plus some lighter options if you're not trying to go full brunch coma mode. I ordered the crab cake Benedict, and wow, absolutely the right choice. The crab cake was flavorful, perfectly crisp on the outside, and packed with real crab (not bready filler). The poached eggs were done just right, and the hollandaise was rich but not overpowering. Everything worked together beautifully, and it felt indulgent without being too heavy. My friend had the duck hash and couldn't stop raving about it! Will definitely return in the nicer weather so I can sit outside. They have a whole outdoor area, trails down to the water and ducks!

We wanted to sit out back but it was a little cool, so we moved onto the porch. It gives an outside feel without being directly in the elements. I had a cup of coffee and the hunting burger that comes with potato salad and fruit. I also added the green salad. I love that everything is so fresh! The fruit is actually an apple slaw that is very unique but also very good! The burger and potato salad were great! This is not the potato salad you might normally think of. It is red potato chunks tossed in a dressing but excellent either way! The green salad was REALLY good but I do have some recommendations.. when the salad comes with a meal, it is listed as "green salad." When ordered alone it is listed as "house side salad" and includes all of the ingredients listed. The salad does contain almond slivers as well as pesto which are both allergens. I think this should be noted under all of the meals that come with green salad. Many people don't even realize how pesto is made, so I would definitely point out it is made with tree nuts. My only other "complaint" would be their straws sit in a plastic container, unwrapped. I noticed when the waitress brought out straws she was touching where you'd sip, an my sister says this has happened every time she's been. On their grounds they have geese and chickens and other birds. There is also a little path that leads to a cute sitting area on the water. I'd love to visit again when it warms up a bit as this restaurant is very relaxing and has a great setting overall!

I stopped by during their pop up at Farmhouse Brewery and, once again, they did not disappoint. One thing you need to know: their burritos are massive. We're talking "the size of your head" big, so come hungry or be ready for some epic leftovers. The menu is small and focused (usually around four burrito choices), but every single one is packed with quality ingredients and flavor. The Coop spends most days serving on base, but keep an eye out for their local pop-ups. They're always worth chasing down. This time around, I ordered the Pepper Jack Chicken Burrito which was grilled chicken breast, maple bacon, melty pepper jack cheese, and their signature Coop Sauce, all bundled up in a warm tortilla. Every bite was the perfect balance of hearty, savory, spicy, and just a hint sweet from the bacon. Their Coop sauce is one of a kind. Tangy, and delicious. I'm sure adding an egg would take it to the next level (that's an option on all burritos). My friends had the Breakfast Burrito! This one comes with fluffy scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, juicy sausage, more of that craveable maple bacon, herby potatoes, and (of course) the signature Coop Sauce. They raved about every bite. I appreciate that The Coop keeps things simple with their streamlined menu and focus on top-notch burritos. Whenever I see them around town, I make it a point to stop ... even if there's a line, it moves fast and is absolutely worth the wait.
