We walked here from our Air BnB about 100 steps away. It was a Sunday night and we definitely got the 'you aren't from around here' looks. Everyone was friendly and kindly directed us to a preferred outdoor table along the river. Our server was awesome. She knew the band playing a few doors down and she left us, near the end of our mea, in care of her husband who was very funny. He took a nice pick of our family when asked. Super nice people. We started with cheese curds (well what else would you eat when you are in WI). Three of us had a burger and one had chili (who eats chili on an 80+) degree day -- apparently my family. The burgers were yummy. They were served on a ciabatta bun. They were cooked to order and nice and juicy. We choose fries and tots and shared the sides. This place is great -- wonderful location with a back patio on the river. I hadn't been in here in years, but stumbled in during an afternoon spent walking downtown. The decor hasn't changed a ton over the years, which I find quite comforting. There was a good beer selection, and the food people were ordering looked pretty good. There were local beer selections I had not heard of before, and I enjoyed a very delicious beer brewed just down the road in Ripon. I even got carded in order to get my beer... that was a surprise out of left field! There is an outdoor porch with tables and then stairs going down to more tables along the river. We made our way out to a sunny table along the river, and I could have spent the rest of the afternoon there. read more

This bar serves descent food from a small side kitchen. The burger and chicken sandwich we tried were good but simple. The brandy old fashioned was more northwoods than highbrow (a good thing for an old fashioned to be). The fries were extremely good and tasted fresh, we got those in a reasonable amount of wait time. The food we ordered took an hour and a half to get to our table. I ordered the Morning Star brand black bean burger (no meat) on a bed of spring mix. To my surprise the burger was handed to me with no cheese. I never asked for any modifications and on the menu it said it came with cheese. I couldn't eat it because the patty was burnt and the waitress handed me a cold piece of sandwich cheese to eat it with. Not the best experience and I don't think I would recommend eating here. This place blew me away, I don't usually give 5 stars but: .1. The customer service was 5 stars for sure. Everyone was super nice and polite. The chef served us our dessert and was super nice and greeted us. 2. I tried the Friday fish fry sandwich. The bread was so soft and the fish was good. The baked potato was perfect. (Perfect). 3. The local beer (Stagghorn) was served in a very cold glass and was very fresh. Delicious! (I am not a super beer drinker but enjoyed it for sure). 4. For dessert - I usually don't like bread pudding but tried their Peanut butter bread pudding , it was SO GOOD! I recommend this to anyone. Stopped in here for a second time on the way home. I stand by my original 4 star review. I ordered the perch that was 2 butterflies, side of baked potato, coleslaw and went with the Chicken pot pie soup. I stopped in about 8:30 pm . Staff was the same with the waitress and bartender. Both were super nice and helpful. I went with a Blue Eyed Blonde beer from a Microbrewery in nearby Ripon off the bartenders suggestion. It was on tap, cold, and very good. Again, the fish was extremely tasty and I loved the breading. Waitress let me know they bread it on site. Most places bread it too much or fry it too much. This perch was spot on. Coleslaw was exactly how I liked it. Baked potato was warm and melted the butter adequate. It was a baked potato, nothing more nothing less. The chicken pot pie soup was good. Thick and exactly what I would expect from a regular pot pie. They give you plenty of oyster crackers. Tonight wasn't as busy. I sat at the bar. Service was swift. Staff friendly. So what keeps it from 5 stars? The perch butterflies were smaller. Again, willing to sacrifice quantity over quality as they were delicious. Soup was in fridge and had to be re-heated. It came out after I had my perch and not before like I requested. Now I dont expect them to keep a soup warm after their dinner rush. I would like to taste it without reheating because it was quite good anyway. Service was super quick as they weren't that busy. The waitress let me know a different leadership group is taking over at the end of June as the current lease will be up. I sure hope they dont change their soups, perch, staff, or selection of draft beers as they were all good. I guess she said the deserts are homemade and delicious. I was pretty stuffed after my meal. We stopped by for lunch before shopping through town. We were promptly greeted and were able to get a seat on the outside patio overlooking the water. The staff was very attentive. Unfortunately we all selected the same item so I can't attest to other menu items. We selected a pulled pork sandwich and a local beer from Knuth called Blue Eyed Blonde. The sandwich was very lean and well seasoned. All four of us enjoyed the sandwich and said one of the best we had had. I would definitely recommend. As for the beer, it was served in a mason jar with handle, ice cold and a great, easy drinking ale worth trying. read more

This is a great place! The bar is dark and dive-y, perfect for watching the game and drinking some beers. They have a wonderful back porch to sit and eat and stare at the Fox River. We even saw a woodchuck! The food was delicious. Wow, this place was a pretty shitty experience. I definitely would not go back there. I looked up places in the area and this one had good reviews, but my experience was not even close. I'm not from the area but I could tell the place was filled with regulars who made me feel a little uneasy. Both the bartender and waitress never smiled. I sat at the bar to order a drink and the bartender waited on me last after getting all the regulars a round first. I told her I would like to order food since other people were eating at the bar. And she never came back to take my order for food or another beverage. A lady next to me (regular) wanted food and waved a waitress over to take our orders. The waitress didn't answer my questions about their wings. The wings themselves were heavily breaded and small. I'd say the only thing I liked was the buffalo sauce. Then, when I tried to close out the bartender grabbed my glass to make another drink. Never said a word or made eye contact. My husband and I had a fish fry. Not nearly enough food! The staff was nice but very awkward and unorganized as if they were all new. Food came immediately after we received our drinks. Almost felt rushed to get out of there. There were only 4 or 5 tables for people to dine at. Was not impressed at all. The pieces of cod were the size of a chicken nugget but there were 5 of them. Fries were lame. I can usually only eat one or 2 pieces of fish when I get a fish fry. Not here! I ate my whole plate and I was still hungry. Sorry but I would not recommend Buckhorn Bar and Grill. Went into try this place out because I heard dad good burgers. We got there around noon and the place was packed and they wasn't any tables so we left to do some errands and came back around an hour to two hours later. It's an old bar with a lot of Fish and game trophies regular bar feel with some tables here in there my wife had the mushroom Swiss Burger and I had the California burgerand we ordered a side of sweet potato fries. The wait was long but well worth it. The food was exceptional. Both burgers tasted phenomenal and we didn't mind waiting because they had some good beers on tap them have nice laid-back bar atmosphere. read more

Great food with great prices. We filled up and had food left over and it was only $25. The chili was fresh and tasted good without being overly seasoned. The burgers were fresh with great flavor.
